Earthbound is #3 in the all time best sellers list on the Wii U eShop in NA. And one of the two games above it (Wind Waker HD) had its sales inflated by bundled copies.
I still stand that "The final days of the Pig King" is the superior translation of the subtitle given the
End of the world angle.

With Undertale being a major hit, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo thought about releasing an English version of Mother 3 so they can capitalize on that hype for more unique RPGs people are raving about.
Super Mario World, the other game above it, was available for 30 cents for some time, no?
I think it's funny you believe Nintendo pays attention to what the rest of the market is doing.
This localization isn't an 'oh, we have to do this because game X or Y is popular.' It had to have been planned for over a year, if not more.

It wasn't my choice to, really. This was actually something I was keeping pretty close to my chest. Then a few weeks ago, some other people started teasing it and then Emily made her tweets.
Keep in mind, just because someone told people Mother 3 is happening doesn't actually mean it's true. I only have this from one source, which is a pretty major reason I didn't openly tease it, but the source itself was trustworthy, which is a pretty major reason I believe it. Then again, someone could be bullshitting them. Until it comes from Nintendo, no one should take it as confirmed.

Nintendo pays attention to the rest of the market. Their high level executives, producers, and directors have all mentioned multiple times that they have numerous gaming systems and games, from Playstation to PC. As an example, Aonuma mentioned Skyrim when talking about Zelda U.
However I agree that any Mother 3 localization would likely have been undertaken before Undertale gained popularity. Then again, if this is a Christmas 2016 release then it's a possibility.

A Ninten alt for Ness would be cool.
There's a Starman Assist Trophy as well, but that was also in Earthbound. The Franklin Badge is an item as well, but again, also in several Mothers.
Earthbound Returns seems like an easy guess, too.
Strictly a kid now experience, although you can kiss a merman.

Ninten looks so similar to Ness though. Not that they wouldn't be able to make up a distinct enough design but I'm pretty sure most of the differences I've seen in depictions are based on fanon. The scarf only appeared in some Japanese ad.

I think that right now a simple modified GBA ROM would be pretty lame when we already have an excellent fan translation, with NoA/E putting resources on something that in a way is already done years ago.

You guys seem trustworthy. Which why I'm expecting it to happen 100%.
I'm not mad, but I feel Nintendo is that one Company that likes to surprise people, I just kinda feel bad for them. Besides I've been expecting Mother 3 since that Reggie joke. No one does that to their fans unless it's a Ridley joke.
It'll be $10. Probably still people freaking out that most GBA games cost $6-$7 and call for a boycott
