~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you want to suggest a game that has recently released or that looks interesting, but hasnt released yet, please follow the following formatting structure so the post is picked up by Toma-Bot:
Released games:
TITLE - PRICE (PLAT)
LINK
DESCRIPTION TEXT
Not yet released games:
TITLE - PLAT
LINK
DESCRIPTION TEXT
Copy the appropriate content and add the proper information for the black writing. Please only include 1 link and 1 image. I tried making it a bit failsafe, so it should be able to deal with 2 links or images as well, but 1 is safer.
If the game is free, then put "Free" as the price, otherwise please use $ or € for the price. You can also include more than one game per post (like the Screenshot saturday posts), but please stick to the above format for every entry.
If someone posts a non-proper formatted post, I'd appreciate if you could repost the game with the same info in the proper format.
I noticed there are a few noteworthy, and relatively unknown, projects that deserve a shoutout here because I feel that they share a common interest with the people in this thread. I talked to the guy from Pixabyte and MetaVendetta and both are very enthusiastic about the things they love and figured you might appreciate the shoutout as well. If you enjoy anything here or want to give feedback, let these guys know via their websites or also here in this thread. If you appreciate something, let people know. A heads up can sometimes very valuable.
This one is already out on Steam, but it's coming out TOMORROW for Wii U so I thought this might be a good thread to give people a heads up. It's even got a discounted week 1 price of $9.99!
FreezeME - February 4, 2016 (Wii U)
9jhhlYS.jpg
http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/freezeme-wii-u
A 3D platformer inspired by classics like Mario 64, and even incorporates some of the gravity mechanics from Mario Galaxy! The real unique feature, though, is that your character has a camera that can freeze things in place, like moving platforms and enemies. The Wii U version supports multiple control schemes, including the Pro Controller, the Gamepad (with which you can freeze things by simply tapping on them), and the Wii Remote and Nunchuk (with which you can freeze things by pointing at them).
It had a Kickstarter way back when that was unfortunately not successful, so I'm extremely happy to see that the developer was able to not only finish the game, but also release it on the Wii U as was originally planned.
New thread, nice! This month is going to be amazing. Firewatch will be a nice change of pace between intense bouts of tactical strategy in XCOM. And then SuperHOT later
Can't believe SuperHOT's finally coming out this month. I still remember trying the game jam version for the first time.
I really would love to play this in VR :(
That Scrap Mechanic gif is glorious.
I'd be so bad at it though.
Got some stuff to add to upcoming shortly - just checking work emails and complaining about no-one is backing Consortium.
I'm really excited about Grip, the quality of the work makes me think of how indie games are now approaching the "mid-AAA" development tier. Looking at you too Witness.
It looks awesome in motion.
If we're just going by visual fidelity, I'd say Soul Keeper, Everspace, Naval Action, and a few others too qualify. It's nice seeing indie devs fill that mid-tier gap.
Its not Frozen Synapse, its Cortex, which is a watered down version of the concept.
The headline is Big Pharma, which I really, really like, was in my top 5 or something last year and usually isnt that cheap. ;)
Synapse is in the bundle!
But you're right - didn't like Cortex at all.
Oh, yeah then Synapse should be the headline instead of Cortex. :)
Really positive first impressions of DarkMaus from me. The artstyle still hasn't really won me over but the nimble precise combat is lovely and meaty and very very dangerous if you are messing around. I am certainly getting the same feelings of tension and trance-like concentration you get while deep in combat in the Dark Souls games.
Wanted to post Luis Antonio's artwork retrospective here, too: http://www.artofluis.com/3d-work/the-art-of-the-witness/
Interesting to confirm that the starting house was originally the "bunker", presumably before we ended up with the "greenhouse" bunker we have now.
I'm really looking forward to seeing earlier versions of the mountaintop, which definitely went through several massive changes based on in-development screenshots.
Grats!
I got into the Clustertruck alpha last night. I hope I get good enough to make a fancy gif of me clustertrucking around.
Also, Thomas Mahler posted a prototype for a top down RPG and was asking for feedback. He's part of the team that made Ori, so you know it's going to be good. Thread here
Really positive first impressions of DarkMaus from me. The artstyle still hasn't really won me over but the nimble precise combat is lovely and meaty and very very dangerous if you are messing around. I am certainly getting the same feelings of tension and trance-like concentration you get while deep in combat in the Dark Souls games.
This is definitely on my radar. Thanks for the impressions.
:D
Yeah, I got my hands on the alpha as well. It's solid enough, but it's in desperate need of an aiming reticle or a shadow so you can judge where you're going to land
Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
Oh wow, grats :) I guess we have someone to rename the threads now. :D
There was a brief derail in that thread about which side of the self-promotion line this fell on. I know More_Badass has followed up with PM questions about that subject (jumping right into the job! Yay!) but I thought I'd post here as well just to give some info about our thoughts.
Basically we want devs on GAF and we want devs to stick around and talk on and contribute to GAF. We don't want devs to use GAF's community. We don't allow people to make threads about their own Kickstarters or anything like that, or to incessantly bump threads about their own games or podcasts or anything like that. But the idea of someone releasing something exclusively on GAF, for free, to share with GAF's community and get feedback: that's cool and we want to encourage this. The appropriate venue is probably commensurate with scope; if you're making your first game then maybe it's more appropriate to post it in the indie game thread and then if no one replies move on or whatever. If the thing you're distributing is just a menu test then you definitely shouldn't be making a thread. So we're sort of relying on peoples' discretion to make sure that they strike the right balance. If you have an idea and it's unclear what side of the line it's on, More_Badass, or me, or any other moderator (you can see the full list here) would be happy to help clarify.
I think everyone can appreciate that it's difficult to both encourage people to share their projects and avoid spam, in large part because everyone thinks their projects are worth sharing. But I hope we do a good job and I'm glad thomasmahler shared that prototype! :)
Thanks for the updates on that - was always a little confused about it.
Stardew Valley out soon, Firewatch looking to be good (MB's teasing) and I still haven't finished The Witness.
A NIGHTMARE. (Oh and Oxenfree looks ace.)
