Final Fantasy IX now out on Android and iOS

jshackles

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I don't understand why this isn't compatible with Android TV. Surely the game has controller compatibility like most smartphone S-E games that rely on virtual buttons. It makes no sense.

It says it's compatible with my Nexus Player, but not my Shield TV. That's just weird.

Are the battles still 15 fps or whatever it was?

The ATB is fundamentally broken in the game. Where it keeps filling while characters are casting or doing anything, so everything ends up queuing up and makes the ATB completely pointless.

Game is a cake walk so at the very least it will help random encounters where you just mash attack and will make casting spells bearable, so it's better than nothing.

You could sort of fix it by setting the ATB option to Wait and going into a submenus in battle to let everything resolve but it's still really stupid when this problem didn't exist in the other two PS1 games.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Still can't find it on the store on my iphone, and don't want to deal with iTunes and a physical sync.

Congrats on mod status.

I'm downloading this now, but my work internet is making it go really slowly. I wanted to test it out and see how it compares to FF9 on epsxe, but I might miss the refund window. Crossing my fingers that I don't get burned.

$24 Canadian dollars. Hoo boy.

I want this bad. But that's a little high.

If I buy this for use on my iPhone/iPad, can I also play it on the TV with Apple TV?

I might wait for the Steam version...

it's discounted now
$16.99 is the standard price of all of the other FF games Square has up. And it even says in the description the discount goes from the 10th, and considering today is the 9th...

Search Final Fantasy. Then click the first one you see (probably VII), click Square and search through all their apps. It will be the very last one under Squares list (at least that's where it was at for me)

Are we really back again with this thing where emulation = piracy? Really?

Emulation doesn't = piracy as a rule but for many I've seen and heard of, my opinion has come to be Emulation = piracy for a hell of a lot of people.

Yes GAF has a great, genuine emulation enthusiast crew but I don't get mad when people come in here saying Emulation = Piracy because it may well be their only exposure to it.

Android TV apps are curated, so it may have to pass that first. NEVERMIND LOOK BELOW

Is it the same for Adventures of Mana? I have a Shield TV.

FF9 is definitely listed as compatible with Nexus Players. Adventures of Mana is not. They may have boned the meta data.

Awesome! Thank you - downloading now!

Steam today please!

My XBox One Elite Controller is ready.

I'm supporting this in hopes that the FFXII port is actually happening. I think we just have one source from the composer saying this and it is an old source right? Hope we hear more soon.

Waiting for feedback first. The world map crawled to a slow on ff7 iOS. Plus I want to know about battl speed.

I think the Google Play Store mentions that this will gets a 20% sale on the 10th (●20% off from February 10 to February 21, 2016!) so don't buy this until tomorrow.

ITunes too. Wait people!

I'm guessing Steam release tomorrow. There is supposed to be a deal on GooglePlay for 20% off on the 10th. Which I'm going to guess is going to coincide with the Steam release (which will also be 20% off at launch).

Bah, I'd buy this is a heartbeat if it was compatible with the Shield TV.

Then again, given SE, I might wait until the first bugfix release.

Good job on the characters.

Nasty job on the background filtering.

Nice framing on the high res speech bubbles aside from the tail joint misalignment

and the background tile edges don't match up right, presumably from how it's upscaled.

I just bought Adventures of Mana for my phone two days ago, and now I got this as well. Have just played 1:08 hour of the game, and I think it is fantastic. Such a rich atmosphere, and it really draws you in. I like the whole premise of the start, the whole scenery and characters. I do like this start more than I did FF VII - which I am currently playing on PC - and FF X, so it bodes well for me. First time playing it too.

Controls is great, with a virtual stick but I have no problem with those, and the menus are easy to navigate by tapping or swiping, like the other games. You can also tap to make the character walk, instead of using a virtual stick.

I paid $18.

Eh, I'll wait until tomorrow to see if I really want it. Emulation on 3DS isn't that bad and I can't stand the touch screen inputs. If I buy this, then I'll need a controller too.

Oh nice

But since my phone can barely run Record Keeper, I guess I'll have to wait for the PC version..
