They were not. Johto is pretty much loved by most Pokemon fans. Sinnoh usually gets the unnecessary hate and some also complain at Unova for being too big.

Johto > Unova > Kanto > Hoenn > Sinnoh > Kalos imo.

Then again, maybe these two games are Gen 7 and won't come out yet and this year we get Z. (Or they could be a Z-style expansion on Gen 6.) (Or they could be a sequel to Gen 6 with only a few new Pokémon and not a whole new gen.) Unsure really. But I would suspect these games are the ones coming this year if the copyright leak is true, based on the timing. But I don't know much about timing of copyrights so this is just speculation.
