This is from the Media Create thread but I thought it deserve its own thread

What was the point of restricting compatibility with certain titles? Is it just another region locking lol Japan thing?
To make sure people didn't bitch if they played Street vs Juggleken and opened the title menu and it didn't work or let you back out because the entire fucking menu for that section was touch-screen enabled despite being able to be controller worked on the PS3 version.
Bravo Capcom. Bravo Sony. For forcing touch-screen gimmicks where there didn't need to be.
The device was worth getting on clearance once the whitelist patch was applied. Since two of the main games I got it for need that (Ys and Wipeout 2048) mine has been offline since 3.55 came out.
Still worth it in the end for the few games I did get for it.

RIP. Though i Still dont understand why so many people have faith in this
Well damn. I may actually buy this instead of PS Vita, but no touchscreen worries me.
Actually I want this as PS One and PSP box more than anything.
What is the whitelist patch?
Sorry, I am fairly new to the PSTV when I picked it up earlier this year on clearance.
It was basically a trick to unlock all Vita and PSP titles on TV.
With that, you could play even blacklisted games, but Sony fixed it after some days.
I know people who don't own vitas and want vitas. I offer them to use my PS TV which I have never used with a 4 gb memory card for free for any games they want. The issue is- they won't even buy their own ps tv at $25. They'll buy a vita at $80 though!
My my how opinions have changed on the PSVita TV.
It was doomed to fail from the start with a lot of games lacking PSVTV support, no internal storage, etc. I wonder how much time is left for it in NA or EU.
So if I have not update to 3.55 yet, and I able to use this patch? Or am I forced to 3.55 no matter what?
Only a matter of time till it gets discontinued here in the states and the $10-20 sales begin. Can't wait
I don't think it's about region locking. Vita/PS TV are supposed to be region free and a list to block incompatible games isn't necessarily a bad idea since not all games were made with PS TV in mind. But even games that work perfectly are sometimes blocked as well. What was the point of restricting compatibility with certain titles? Is it just another region locking lol Japan thing?
I hope so, too. Vita could really shine once it's no longer held back by Sony.Hope we get some native firmware hacks soon, it would be the best emulator box
The idea and the product are/were great. Sony botched it big time.
It's a shame. I would've bought one if it had Netflix and good game compability for sure.
would of thought that the US/EU branches would halt production first honestly.
It was never a good idea. Here's what could have worked. It was a good idea Vita TV, just so poorly executed. UK version especially, the compatibility of games is pathetic.
hahaha holy shit;_;7
Who says they haven't? Try even finding the product on Sony.com or Playstation.com without using the search bar.
I would be very surprised if they are actually producing more units.
Probably soon in the US too. I wonder how cheap they'll get this holiday? Probably get one free with every PS4 purchase at this point.
Is there many places that still have them? I think Sony sold off a bunch on their online store cheap a few months back.
Did anyone buy this?
If so, why?
;_;7
It was always a great idea poorly executed, like most stuff Sony comes up with.
I would not be shocked if the Vita TV is valuable in the future for speedrunners. It plays PS1 and PSP games, allowing you to direct video capture. The PS1 games allow you to force faster disc read speeds using the fast disc load too.

That thread was just amazing.;_;7
