Nintendo Direct: new presentation announced for tomorrow

There wasn't much that really got me interested, partly because of the leaked list but mostly because I knew about all that stuff before, anyway.

I'm amused by how mad everyone is, though.

It's too bad that horrifically embarrassing Metroid fans made spending 8 minutes on Federation Force necessary. Though it's not like Metroid fans actually buy Metroid games anyway, given that even Fire Emblem is now a bigger franchise than Metroid, so it did seem like kind of a waste of time regardless.

Other than that, I'm satisfied. Any Direct that doesn't contain Zelda news is going to be seen as an abomination by most, but I think there was enough meat in that presentation that I didn't really miss it.

This is...probably the weakest direct I've seen live.

That said.

Project Guard being incorporated into Star Fox is actually pretty cool. It looks fun.

Dragon Quest 7 is a must buy, but we already knew it was coming.

Paper Mario is...maybe!? Think we still need to see if it will be closer to Sticker Star or TTYD.

SNES for 3DS could be good news, but I'm not planning on rebuying anything, especially with Nintendo Account on the way.

Triple Deluxe was looked neat, but does the world really need another 2D Kirby game?

I'm actually bullish on Federation Force overall, just because I trust Next Level. But that clip really didn't do it any favors.

Good:

SNES on the N3DS.
No dub on #FE.
Rhythm Heaven for those that like it.
Monster Hunter Generations.
Pokken.

Need to wait and see:

New DQ7 translation.
How they will handle #FE.

Meh:

Everything else.

The last year or so of Nintendo's output, barring a couple exceptions, has been depressing. It's pretty clear and has been for a while that they have their best teams working on NX, and have commissioned as many low effort/spin-off games as possible in the meantime. Hopefully this is the last Direct until Nintendo decides to start showing off the NX.

For an intermission direct, ok, nothing big or spectacular. But you could have been expecting this, given that a new system is launching and them stating a million times not to expect anything about NX.

But you know what's the worst thing i've seen today?

The crying and ranting from about 80% of the users in this thread since the Direct started. Some of you act worse than a freaking Kindergarten class.

Requesting the image "I like to rant about games i've never played on the internet".

You know, if there had been a way of knowing what stuff the direct will show ... you know, like the statement "Stuff for 3DS/Wii U up to summer" ... or a leak showing what the Direct has in store. Oh wait, there was.

Now, if you excuse me, i'm going to F5 on amazon.de like a madman, looking for the FE Fates Special Edition.

You guys really were expecting NX info on a random direct in March? Especially since we just recently got to know that not even 3rd Parties have any hardware or much info yet.

No, but they really need to start he hype train on it instead of trying to pad things out like this. They should announce the system early, give us some teasers to build excitement and then go all out at E3. Like Sony and Microsoft did back in 2013. It's way past time for them to move on.

I'm sorry, and I'm not one to usually be picky about graphics, but that Metroid Prime Federation Force looks like Gex on the N64.

Shitty 3DS screens coupled with no anti aliasing will do that. The mechs probably have good detail, but it looks like a pixely mess because of the screens. Hopefully NX handheld will at least be 480p like the Wii U gamepad

Here's my rundown:

+ Mario Maker Patch -- so many possibilities have just been added with those additions. Holy shit I'm going to get back into this game.

+ Disney Art Academy -- Great partnership, looks really cool. Art Academy is a solid series.

+ DQ7 -- I hate Toriyama's artwork but this looks like a solid title. Then again my experience with DQ is basically 2 hours of DQ9.

+ Rhythm Heaven Megamix -- RH is always good.

+ Bravely Second -- I'm interested.

+ Monster Hunter Generations -- I'm guessing MH fans will at least like this.

+/- Paper Mario Wii U -- LOOKS nice, but probably isn't going to be the Thousand Year Door sequel we all want.

+/- Star Fox Zero/Guard -- I actually think this game will be fun, but I don't think it's going to be impressive.

+ Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE -- I'm excited for this game, even as someone who is usually turned off by excessive "idol culture" in Japan. Hoping it's good.

- Metroid Prime Federation Force -- this game is going to bomb so goddamn hard. It's just a bad idea all around, and it makes me sad to think Next Level has to work on it instead of another Strikers or something. I'm convinced that Nintendo doesn't understand why people like Metroid at all. And it makes no sense to me that a western-oriented franchise (especially the "Prime" part of Metroid) would be on a handheld instead of a console. Everything about this game is frustrating.

- The rest: meh

Kirby and Rhythm Heaven look pretty cool, though. You can tell Kirby is a "reduce, reuse, recycle" kind of game like Triforce Heroes and Paper Jam.

Yeah I dunno, I'll probably play Kirby and maybe that Art Academy thing might be nice. The Super Mario Maker and Splatoon updates sound good, but I don't play those.

I don't play MH but it looked ok

Might rent Bravely Second

Not really interested in Star Fox but it looked better now to me anyway

Pokken looks like 3D clay fighter

I'm not into Musou games

Rhythm Heaven might be fun

Lost Reavers looks like something someone put together in a weekend for a game maker challenge

Federation Force looks like something that would have been a neat idea a decade ago

Tokyo Hyper Exchange Student Grammy Awards Private Function SHARP FUNK NATION is probably not something I'm gonna play

Talk about disappointing.

The worst Direct I have seen, nothing at all for me, nothing.

I love my 3DS but the games seem to be just stocking fillers.

The WiiU & 3DS should & need to go out on a high, I have all the Nintendo consoles, but there is no way I will be getting a NX it is most definitely going to be a wait & see.

How do I get those 40 minutes of life-time back?
So sad :(
Nintendo drecks are not like wine, getting better with time, no, they are more like
cheese sandwiches you put somewhere and forget about them. Then after a while only the biting smell will remind you of their existence.

Apart from the abscence of Picross 3D 2 in the West, it's really gonna be a great year for 3DS. Totally unexpected.

Wii U, well, is really dead. Paper Mario doesn't look too good, and the biggest news for the console is the (awesome) march update of Mario Maker. Obviously the big shots are (hopefully) on NX.

I thought Splatoon, Mario Maker, and FE Fates have been some of Nintendo's best games in the last ten years, honestly.

But I guess I'm not seeing it from everyone else's perspectives.

My impression was "meh" as far as new games to look forward to. The updates to their big games (Mario Maker, Splatoon) look great, and I'm excited for that.

Federation Force still looks bad, and now they're stuck dealing with the bad initial impressions, making them shift some of their focus to just gain back the Metroid fans they thought they would have by default.

Unsure what to to think of the new Paper Mario. I hated Sticker Star, so I'm definitely cautious of this one.

Kirby looks like more Kirby, but the RPG mode actually looks really cool and interesting.

nintendo is doomed etc etc

Not doomed since they have all the money in the world in a bank account. However their strongest assets are their IPs and they are continuously de-valuing them with releasing new products that look very out of date and are just the same thing over and over again since they wait with the innovation for their next console release.

If Nintendo would have the fans best interest in mind they would stop doing hardware and release their games as third party titles. That way games wouldn't get delayed constantly to "the next nintendo console" that is out of sync (generation wise) with other manufacturers. That way their fans get's burned twice since third party developers (EA, Activision etc.) don't find it profitable to develop custom versions of their titles for a sub-par console.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Monster Hunter, Kirby, Rhythm Heaven, Dragon Quest 7. Sounds like a solid reason to stay in to me.

Yeah I don't get the complaints. 3DS looks absolutely solid this year. One of its best years yet, actually.

Bravely Second
DQ7
MH Generations
Kirby
Rhythm Heaven
Hyrule Warriors

All this year? That's plenty for me.

I didn't care enough about MPFF to be upset, but I really hope Retro's making a Prime game at this point. Six years since a console Metroid game, and it was the worst one of all time.

This direct was a solid B.

But I grade on a curve (expectations).

Bravo. If only 95% of other people wee half as smart as you lol

This was a terrible direct but we all should've known this was gonna be about filler games. I'm no mad about the direct, except for Paper Mario, because my expectations are with NX.

Get your asses in their people and thumbs the fuck down now!

I did my part.

Yeah, YouTube ratings, that'll show em.

Thumbs upped it because of that post and I don't give a shit about the game. They're not going to stop because some people on the internet clicked a thumb pointing downwards so I'm not sure what it would have achieved.

I got what I wanted, except for Mother 3 and Undertale (which were unrealistic anyway).

Rhythm Paradise: FUCK YES
Paper Mario: Looks good graphically, gameplay-wise it looks too much like Sticker Star which reaks of bad stuff, but I will bite the bullet and buy it anyway.
Starfox: Looks awesome and I want it because I'm a P* whore.
Kirby: Looked amazing and I want it because I have probably never played a bad Kirby game in my life.
Monster Hunter: MONSTER HUNTER! Thanks to my friends I'm totally addicted to this series and this game will not leave my 3DS for a looooooong time.
SNES on N3DS: Gotta buy Earthbound again (which isn't a bad thing at all). The rest I already have. It's still sad to see that I would have to buy the games again, ALTHOUGH I already own them on Wii U. Hopefully Nintendo will go with the times and realize that cross-buy is a thing, so yeah. But Earthbound is a must-buy for me all day every day.
#FE: Fucking stupid name, but MAN, am I hyped for this game. It looks right up my alley and I wanna play it now.
Metroid FF: It's such a disgrace to the series. Nintendo, just let them do another Punch-Out. They totally knew what they were doing. This doesn't look to be the case with Metroid FF. I don't want to badmouth the game, but what we have seen for now just doesn't look good or even remotely interesting.

All in all I found the Direct to be decent. Could've been better, but overall it was okay.

My thoughts, even included games already known:

1) I still have to play Bravely Default, but excited for Bravely Second
2) I'm still playing Awakening but excited to play the new FE.
3) Starfox will be fun to play, from a nostalgic POV and to check out how it has evolved.
4) Monster Hunter Generations looks great, even though I haven't touched MH4U yet.

So many games to play, so little time.

Not bad at all.

With the amount of 3DS titles on the way, it has a pretty good year ahead. From Dragon Quest VII to Monster Hunter Generations, it has a very strong lineup.
Wii U looks barren now though. Paper Mario looks amazing, but it seems to follow one of the titles that are not liked in the series.
With that it's pretty much updates for Mario Maker and Splatoon, Paper Mario, Star Fox, #FE and Zelda for the rest of it's live.

Star Fox looks nice and Guard looks fine too btw.

I'm glad they seem to make the transition to their next gen better then last time, considering their Wii U lineup was good quality wise but didn't have much quantity regardless of the year and the 3DS seems alive and well from a software standpoint.

Paper mario u
Star Fox looking good
Project guard bonus
Lost reaver localization
#FE localization
MHX localization
Rhythm heaven localization
New Kirby game

Yeah totally sucks lol

No Zelda or nx sux lol

I mean it depends on the person or what they are interested in. I won't be buying a single game you listed, so yeah for someone like me it was awful. Doesn't mean it was for you though of course
