Nintendo OFFICIALLY Confirms SNES Games For New Nintendo 3DS!

Why are people handwaving M2's 3D Classics efforts?

Those run in 3D and have extra modes and features. They're also only $7

Nintendo wants to keep re-releasing games while retaining the prices, so it's a bit frustrating

Yeah, having Genesis games remade for 3D at a cheaper price doesn't make Nintendo's barebones offering look very good here. Especially when those will run on an original 3DS.

No cross-buy? And not even the Wii U got Final Fantasy VI yet, I just couldn't care less about this announcement.

The lack of cross-buy is ridiculous but guess what? I'm buying a bunch of these, because playing SNES games on my 3DS is going to be awesome and I'm a sucker for these classics.
And then you'll buy or upgrade them again on the NX handheld next year, too?

Guys, the CPU in the original 3DS hardware isn't powerful enough to emulate SNES games. We have a developer in this very thread saying it. It's as simple as that.

The PSP could emulate/run PS1 games and yet the 3DS can't emulate SNES? Hell, PSP could emulate SNES games no problem.

SNES to 3DS = 20 years
PS1 to PSP = 10 years

Ridiculous.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
Exactly. Isn't the older 3DS powerful enough?

EDIT> Others are saying that's it not. Shame.

It's not even powerful enough to run Nintendo's GBA emulator, they said right back in 2011 that GBA titles would never be available to buy on the OG 3DS.

The PSP could emulate/run PS1 games and yet the 3DS can't emulate SNES?

SNES to 3DS = 20 years
PS1 to PSP = 10 years

Ridiculous.

It's almost as if they are different pieces of hardware!

My N3DS has been running homebrew for quite some time now, and in addition to letting me play my SNES collection in an emulator at a smooth 60fps with many other options, I also can play 3DS games from any region. So why on earth would I, or anyone else, give all that up just to pay extra money for a dozen or so SNES games that trickle out over the next weeks?

Because the majority of 3DS owners doesn't know homebrew exists and a good chunk of those that do would rather not "hack" their 3DS hardware to play games they can already play on a dozen other devices if they really wanted to.

To be fair, some of those people said it before Mr Dev came in and confirmed that.

Of course, and their words are no less important, I just figured Beril's words would hold a bit more weight since he's familar with the hardware on a first-hand basis.

Are you for real? 99% of 3DS owners don't have homebrew installed. 99% of 3DS owners don't own original SNES carts and the ability to rip them to play on their systems.

Obviously "or anyone else" referred to anyone else with homebrew installed. Context!

Yea, not buying these games again. I already have a million ways to play Super Mario World. Portability isn't enough of a reason to buy this game a 4th time.

Still no Crossbuy option and making customers pay for the same Game again and again and again since the Wii is laughable to say the least. Charging ¥800 per game is where the joke really kicks in. They can go ef themselves.

So Japan is getting more titles? No surprise there.

Can anybody tell me if Secret of Mana is on that initial image?

If so then maybe there's a hope that they'll bring it to the US 3DS VC.

Wasn't that obvious, you could've said "homebrew users".

And how many people with homebrew installed do you think have legit access to SNES games?
Yes Rich I know you fucking do
Either way you're talking about a tiny group of people. Probably not even in the five figures.

The EU direct said Super Mario World and Earthbound were coming 3 March. Still nothing on the eShop. You have just over one hour, NOE. Make it happen.

No discount and I already bought all the ones I want out of these on Wii U. Maybe I'll buy a few, like Zelda 3 and Super Metroid, but that's it. Not even a few bucks off? C'mon.

Because the 3DS CPU isn't powerful enough. I swear a mod needs to put this in the OP or something.

"Mods please help me damage control"

It's not. Titles in Japanese are Mystical Ninja, Super Ghouls'n'Ghosts (or whatever the SNES one is called in English), Super Castlevania IV, Zelda III, Contra III, Kirby Bowl, Fire Emblem.

I already have all three of today's releases on Wii U and there's no discount.

Extremely disappointed at that.

What an absolute hit. Shame about the lack of cross buy, Nintendo really needs to sort this shit out. I already have Super Metroid on Wii and Wii U. Heck, I have it on my PAL home brewed n3DS and can play via Retro Arch.

All the above said, I can't believe that crazy rumour posted on here that looked obviously fake turned out to be true, haha.

Edit: we'd better be getting those Street Fighter games!!

The existence of this is perplexing. There's not really much of a point in releasing these now if they're not going to have cross-buy.
