So I just remote played into some random person's PS4 using my PSN account.

OP a piece of advice, if you filled that form don't wait until you hear back from Sony, just check your PS4 if you can set it as primary. Or check on the website if all devices are deactivated. I never heard back from them after submitting the form with my serial and it was reset after a few hours.

So PS4 Remote Play is giving me a different message now. Think the person completely turned off right now. Not sure what they did earlier to keep me out.

Couple of things happened. I received that email to reset password recently. Also received a Real Name Request from someone I don't recognize. Curious.

Edit: So the user who sent me (and then withdrew) the real name request about an hour ago: RUSSIAN

Also, they have MLB The Show 16 as a game they played.

They can't sign in so remote play wouldn't work.

Yup. I am pretty sure that I have the PSN Name of the person who stole/acquired my account information.

They have DriveClub listed as a game they played April 7th. When I first logged in I noticed that was the game they had last played. Other games I saw seem to line up.

So, this user sent me a real name request about an hour ago and also has similar games played to what I saw in their recent list.

And they are Russian.

Not sure if releasing their PSN ID gets into Detective GAF zone so I won't do that. I am pretty sure this is it. Very confident. Why they are on my friend's list... I have no idea. Scouting my game list?

Please accept the request and see what they have to say

Does it do any good to disable remote play?

If you aren't going to use it, disable it. But more importantly, regularly check the SEN site posted in this thread to see if your account is active on any consoles other than your own.

Finally, it is not a bad idea to check the database dump using all of your e-mails on the site linked in the OP. If you show up in any, change your passwords for your e-mails. Use a unique password for every site you visit and especially on your e-mail addresses and PSN account.

No, if a person has access to your account remote play won't change anything.

Unless they log into your console while you're asleep, use the browser to access your router's gateway while you're sleeping, put a custom DNS server on that acts as a phishing re-direct and puts your PS4 back in rest mode like nothing happened.

Then the next morning when you start browsing the web on your home computers, all your traffic goes to their honeypot.

Just had a similar not so helpful chat with Sony support. Gave me a form to fill out and apparently they'll deactivate everything within 24 hours. Very lame Sony

Do key loggers still work if I use lastpass to enter all my passwords?

Lastpass is an encrypted password vault and auto-fill password system that improves your security, though certain keyloggers would still work as some can take screenshots and intercept data between popular security applications and browsers. Nothing is 100 % effective, but it's best to have a layered approach - use an antivirus, (avoid Norton) a firewall and software like Lastpass plus KeyScrambler. The key point is to start with a clean system. No amount of security will help if you're already keylogged because your master account passwords will be collected while you're trying to set up your security.

Can't get in. I changed my password so that might be part of the problem. They also have their system offline at the moment.

Then, as soon as you can get in, go for it and disable the account. I'm pretty sure you can do it.

All the good luck in the world for you mate, if I were you I'd be angry as fuck.

Same exact thing happened to me earlier this year. I spent like four days speaking to customer support in the most infuriating waste of time where they never did anything. Fucking piece of shit customer service that they have at Sony. The first few times they emailed me forms to request system deactivation only to have them denied each time. Then another told me there was nothing I could do. Then another accused me of game sharing and basically told me it was my fault and to go fuck myself. I tried tweeting Sony support and no response.

I then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against Sony Network Entertainment of America and bam, problem solved. Fuck Sony and fuck their support. Opening a case is super easy and all done online. It takes like five to ten minutes.

Did you do a password reset through the email you got or did you do it by going to Playstation site yourself?

Directly through the site. Then on my phone a second time for good measure.

Yeah this person added me on PSN on Sunday. Russian. Same person who sent me the real name request tonight and their trophy history matches up with the games I saw on their dashboard.

Hi op. Had the same issue a few months ago. It took a bit of nagging but they absolutely can reset the 6 month timer on your psn account which would allow you to set your ps4 as primary again. One phone call should sort it out

OP: it doesn't seem like the person who ended up with your account is the one who actualy stole it. They probably bought it on the cheap, probably from someone who bought it along with a bulk of other data from the original adobe.com hackers. There's a lot of offers to buy various gaming accounts going around on Russian social netwrorks and elsewhere. They might have not even realized the account was stolen, since it's never explicitly stated.

Gaming accounts being peddled on a Russian social network. Yeah, I am not going to give this person the benefit of the doubt. They absolutely know what they are buying and that there is a good chance it's stolen.

Also, they had added me as a friend to their account on April 3rd. Probably to check when I was on/offline. Yeah, they knew what they were doing.

Funny enough, they downloaded my copy of MLB: The Show. Haven't unlocked any trophies on it yet though.

Well, I'm not trying to play the devil's advocate here, just giving a bit of context. It wasn't necessarily a Russian site too, because this stuff is happening everywhere. Here are a few examples from Google: http://www.playerauctions.com/psn-account/, https://www.epicnpc.com/forums/345-Playstation-Network-PSN-Accounts, https://www.facebook.com/PlayStationAccount. Never actually realized how big it was until I read this thread and looked it up.

How can it work for Jez_0 and not for 2 other guys in this thread?
If this is true, what the heck is Sony doing here? No 2 step/factor authentification and some 6 month bullshit that can be used to the advantage of the hacker?!! Contradictory info for their support hotline workers? Hell, Sony... really..

UPDATE: Sony said they wouldn't get back to me until Monday but I just received a message that they deactivated ALL CONSOLES. I have reactivated my console under my PSN ID.

Feels good. I want to thank everyone for their help.

Anyone waiting on this six month shit to sort out might want to give Sony another call.

Good to hear the problem got solved. There's no excuse for keeping the legitimate owner in a limbo for half a year.

Are there any way to see a log of devices using my PSN?

I know I can see the devices that reach my console via remote play... there is a log for that.

PS. That is why I use diferents passwords for PSN, websites, etc... that way even if they were hacked the hack just has this site password.

Good job OP! Now I'm confident I can get mine activated again too.

Was there a specific number to call? I don't see one on their site.

Glad to hear that you have got this sorted out, but Sony really need to address this and get something sorted out, because the problem only seems to be getting worse.
