OK I will stop being lazy, a reddit user:

"One of the most major criticisms I can give it is the lack of crazy cinematic moments (like the cargo train/plane) and the fact that right until the end it tries to stick to a more realistic vibe. Not enough combat either littered with (beautiful) cutscenes which I found to disconnect me from the gameplay all too often. These are definitely my biggest gripes. As a plus, the game knows who it's being built for and has an absolute fuckton of fan service. I can't say without spoilers but it's lovely to see such attention to detail (it is naughty dog after all). Without a crappy number review I'll place it comfortably within the same ranks as almost every ND game made to date, though it definitely had less of an effect on me when compared to 2,3, TLOU. While I could play those games again and again, this one I honestly couldn't just pick up and play as and when. This is all subjective to me though, I can't wait to hear what other people think"

Hummm, interesting. Weird though, as I honestly think the E3 setpiece from UC4 (the truck chase) is by far the biggest "WOW" setpiece this series has ever had. Is it more grounded than the plane and train's ones? Yes, but that doesnt make them any less exciting or interesting. Still, seems like he liked it as much as the others, so it is a positive review by all means.

Just completed this wonderful game, It's a return to form in my opinion as I thought UC3 was just a good game and nothing more after how unreal UC2 was I can not describe how much I loved that game so maybe I was expecting too much from the 3rd game.

However UC4 is a stunning game, gunfights are miles better than previous entries and there are many ways to plan your attack and in complete stealth too if you want.

Visuals are mightily impressive the PS4 is a beast for a console and ND are just beyond talented in all aspects of game development and it really shows it's honestly just unbelievable for a console game, The game feels a little more mature and more serious than previous entries in my opinion and the settings of the game are also excellent.

The usual action set pieces are back and they are great maybe could of been a little bit better/longer but it's always nice to play them intense moments in between platforming and snappin necks.

I felt that there was a lot more platforming than previous entries in the series which is a good thing there is also some small open environments to explore by vehicle aswell in the game nothing huge but it was a good addition.

As ever the cast are voiced better than any other game that's out there right now there's really nothing more to say about that.

The hidden treasures are back and I would say they are much harder to find than all previous entries I don't know if that's anything to really shout about but I love treasure hunting a lot so I welcomed this.

For me personally I think this is the best game I've played since The last of us was released, people might read my post and think I'm just swallowed up in all the hype and I've played it with my ND glasses on but honestly no I haven't I just think it's a hall of fame level game.

I played quite stealthy and tried to find as many treasures as I could finding 74/109 so this certainly added time to my total completion time on Normal difficulty which came in at 17 hours and 27 mins.

If I am to point out any negatives.... I can't really mention them as they are all spoilers so I'll not post them not even spoiler mark them, but maybe nitpicking the last couple of chapters could of been a little better and the antagonists were pretty lame compared to Lazaravich and Flynn of UC2, Too many slidey parts kinda made it feel cheap after the 20th time.

EDIT- as a Reddit poster stated yes I do agree that there isn't enough of the classic moments like the train from UC2 or plane from UC3 they are in UC4 but like I say earlier in my post they could of been a bit better/longer. There is a lot of fan service but it's good and doesn't feel tacky or face palm worthy at all - EDIT

It's a 9.5/10 game no doubts about it at all, It's worth buying a PS4 for or going out of your way to borrow or rent a console for a weekend or something, but whatever you do if you like any previous Uncharted games you're gonna love this....

Thanks for the impressions! I also have a feeling this will be the only game that could top TLOU for me.

Great impressions man, if after your negatives it's still 9.5 it means the rest of the game was really really good.

Was little disappointed to hear the villains weren't good, Nadine seemed promising.

About the set pieces, would you say the E3 demo (city chase) is the biggest and best set piece in the game? cause that one is incredible, very long, huge scale, easily high at the top of the best set pieces in videogames list, it's awesome, if there are more like that I can't get the complaints.

Nice impressions, nice to see you enjoyed it. It'll be interesting to see how others feel about the antagonists and set pieces. Just over a week!

It's positive overall but he didn't like it as much as the others, they all thought it was the best Uncharted in the series, some liked it more than TLOU as well, so obviously they loved it much more.

Brigandier please don't answer this here, or if you do please put it in spoilers. I don't want to know the length of other set pieces in relation to this.

What some people consider the negatives (fair enough, that's their taste) is one of the reasons I'm excited. I was praying that they'd take what they'd learned from TLOU and apply it to UC4 and I include a more grounded experience in that. I'm going to love this.

Don't worry I won't post any spoilers not even going to post spoilers in any way until release its too tempting to press them black bars lol and it can also be done by mistake if on mobile.

I will say this though don't worry about anything this game delivers big time.

I agree. The Uncharted games are great, but The Last of Us is a masterpiece, and it had no crazy set pieces. I'm hoping that Naughty Dog has taken the criticisms of Uncharted 3 and the praises of The Last of Us to create another masterpiece. They've proven that they can create a memorable experience without relying on over the top set pieces.

What are your thougths about the ending? Did you like it? Just yes or no if you feel explaining would be somehow spoilery.

Honestly?, You will have to answer that one for yourself as my opinion might be very different to yours if I was to offer my opinion it would be major spoilers all around.

How's that for giving nothing away??? lol

Hahah

It is okay. Druckmann did say the ending would be divisive. I am excited to play it and make my own mind about it anyways.

Another question: about the "dialogue choices" we can make. Are they nice? I mean, I know it wont be too relevant to the overall plot (in fact I dont think it will have any impact at all), but is it well implemented? Fun? Was it a good idea? Thanks!

Haha edited my post as I do agree with the Reddit quote that the action cutscenes were not as good or "wow" moments like the train or plane but they're still good just not long enough tbh.

Another part of the game I could criticise is sometimes the AI is kinda stupid lol it's better than previous games but it could still be better but I am nitpicking with that one, Maybe that's a good sign lol.

Nothing major stood out for me and I will be playing through this game again I've platted UC1-3 so time to add another to the Drake collection!!

Is the motorcycle tank chase that's already been shown the most elaborate and crazy set piece or are there others that top it?

For reference, what games would you give a 10 on your scale? Thanks for the impression btw!

The Last Of Us, Uncharted 2, MGS3 (Subsistence),FFXII, Halo CE, Half Life 2, Shenmue 1, Shenmue II, MGS1, FFVII, Mario 64, DKC2.... Not many more but it's always hard to give anything a perfect 10 when not being biased.

Uhh. you gave UC4 a 9.5.. that means it's fucking shit and nowhere near as good as UC2, a 7 year old game :/ ND has FAILED to match UC2 7 years later. I think I'll just youtube this game.

One thing I don't think has been answered in all the impressions, how is the weapon variety? thanks

Yep completely forgot about that, the weapon variety is much better than previous games. The weapons are more advanced than Ak47s and M4s that's for sure.

I'm not on the game right now to list or give names but there's plenty of new weapons to obtain.

I feel that the weapons are really responsive and shootouts feel fun and are a little more tactical as previous games on normal you could run around shoot shoot bang bang with out dying but if you do that in UC4 and don't use cover well and you're a poor shot you will get owned.

Personally I really liked this as it made me think about my plan of attack and which enemies were getting neck breakered and which were getting thrown off cliffs before I started shooting.

And maybe I should watch posted videos before replying to people's sarcasm 😂

EDIT - The guns sound amazing aswell if you got surround sound it's just awesome, I also have to say cutscenes are presented/acted so well they look almost real and movie like in parts, I'm dying to elaborate on this as there is a crazy scene near the beginning.....

I'm going to play on hard the first time. The previous Uncharteds and The Last of Us were so much better on hard. It'll probably prolong my playtime as well (I have a feeling I'm not going to want it to end) and it'll force me to think more tactically than if I played in an easier difficulty.

Sure it's not a 10... This reads like a 10 not 9.5 haha. :p

Glad that it seems like they upped their gun sound game. The AK was so wimpy sounding in Uncharted 2 that it sounded like it was dry firing. TLOU did a great job though.

Agreed. The plane is ok, but the climbing section, fist fight, and shoot out is pretty lame. Only cool part is when Drake gets pulled out and parachutes down like a boss. The train has better gameplay compared to the plane, but it was long with a crappy boss fight.
