NI-OH Alpha Demo Available Until May 5 - Prepare to Die A Lot

This. Left a similar remark on the feedback website. The camera feels a lot like NGB's in close quarters combat - zooms right in and the environment gets in the way. When you are getting swarmed by enemies it makes it almost impossible to see who is doing what.

Exactly. They want yo to take your time and parry and dodge at the last minute but your character gets in the way while watching your opponents movements. Not a problem when facing monsters. Seems like something they can fix with feedback for sure.

How long is this demo? I'd like to beat it tonight. Doable?

Today is the last day. You need to beat the first area boss to get the DLC bonus. 2nd area is just an extra, as far as I'm concerned. I don't know what your core stats are so I don't know if its doable. If your good at using Ki Pulse, you should be fine.

Apperently saying a game sounds frustrating is considered " throwing a fit". Good to know.

Semantics, but people have already explained how to not only avoid getting hit properly when starting out, but how you can level up your dude and not die in 1 to 2 hits right off the bat.

Another tip I'd lend you or anyone else finishing up the demo is to fight bloody graves. They drop good loot that you can sell, lots of currency, and you can do them after cleaning out some enemies in the starting area. Great place to get a leg up.

If you are willing to learn about the game, I suggest looking back a few pages and reading the topic a bit. It'll clarify why what it sounds like it far different than the actual practice of such.

By the way, what the hell are the two slots below 'Armor' and 'D-pad Shortcuts' by the way? I could never figure out how to access those after assigning things to them.

One thing to remember for those in a hurry to get the mark, you don't have to fight every enemy. I was in a hurry to finish so I ended up running past quite a few enemies in the last section of the first stage so I could unlock the final shortcut.

The boss is pretty predictable so if you can at least get access to him (a quick run from the final shortcut) I think most people would be able to beat him, even if you end up a little under-leveled.

I don't understand the point of putting up a single player demo and removing it. It's absolute bullshit.
You also don't put up a single player demo for a game that doesn't even have a release date yet. This was put mostly for feedback for a new IP, it doesn't make sense to leave it when it might not be an accurate representation of the final game.

Sigh

Wish I'd gotten to play this, but this week was finals and last week was lead-up to finals, etc.

I really like what I've read and watched though, and hopefully the necessary changes needed for QoL will be made.

I loved playing this. Beat the boss and got the digital MacGuffin, but I refuse to play anymore until the full game is out. But it's so tempting...

Best thing is drawing aggro from, like, four enemies and switching to low stance to dance all around them, tire them out, then switch to a more appropriate stance to finish them.

And these arrows. THESE FUCKING ARROWS WHAT. I got a longbow and really had no intention of using it much because the melee is solid and I only had a couple of arrows so fuck it, but I shot a guy in the gut to lure him, and it was alright. As he was running at me, on a lark I decided to shoot his head.

It's a critical hit

It fucking decapitates

I WANT MORE ARROWS

And those yokai monsters have a nice thing going for them with the ki denial zones they whip up, but then I fall into a random roof into a cramped house and now I gotta dance around a yokai in close quarters with no escape and ki denial zones sprouting up all over the place. Proud to say that I made that fight without a scratch.

This is an alpha, and it already shows incredible promise. Definitely getting it day one.

Only negative is the lack of claw-type weapons, but then again, still an alpha. Here's hoping!

You can also shoot the cyclops in their eye to stun them.

Well that's not exactly true, you can lure him to the other end of the room, then run to open the door and fight him outside ^^ I did it twice successfully without need to slow him down.

I'm concerned that team ninja listening to alpha feedback is going to hurt the game more than help. Can you imagine if from software listened to all the knee jerk criticisms to demon souls back in 2009 particula9regarding it's challenge factor...

^ Team Ninja has history with difficult games, they'll see it through. I wouldn't be surprised to see an easy mode added, though.

I have faith. If they do tone down the difficulty I imagine it will be through a Ninja Dog-esque difficulty mode that you get the option for by dying too much in the first stage.

I haven't played it yet, but from this the camera sounds almost as bad as the Souls camera. Is it at NK levels of jank when this happens?

Ah, well good to know when the game releases.

Wonder if you can play as multiple characters or just the one guy. Can Team Ninja truly resist putting in a playable girl? Because they kinda like their playable girls.

I can't honestly say I have no idea - never played the Souls games.

I have, however, played way more Ninja Gaiden then is probably healthy and it's that level of camera stupidity that you get in Ninja Gaiden Black is certain situations. It doesn't bother me if something kills me off camera that I can't see - but it does bother me when I know exactly what's going on and I can't do a fucking thing about it cause the camera is zoomed in so close I'm staring at the back of the characters head and it fills the screen.

went back to the 2nd mission to take on Nue solo. Beat that ugly bastard in one try. Felt great. And I guess that's it for me with the demo. Now to focus all my weekend attention on Overwatch

I read that while thinking about DoA series..... yeah, that just felt..... wrong.

can anyone explain what I'm doing [wrong]:

I have been playing from midstance with a katana. If i'm guarding, and I click to attack, instead of doing an attack I often seem to do this weird, useless, raise my sword move that delays my actual attack by a second. I know i'm doing something wrong, I just don't know what.

Also, any links to the best 'tip' posts in this thread?

I don't believe you can go right from guard to swing unless you let go of the guard or get an ability that lets you do a guard-move.

Does a burst of ki float around you? If so, you might have a special move activated that blows people back. You can customize what moves you want if that's not to your liking.

So disappointed by Nue - was far easier than the first boss (dont think he has any change up in his attack variation) - he did OHK me the first 2 times while I was working out his attacks :p

Just needed time and low stance spear to chip him to death

Managed 2 lvl 40 characters (one a pure Katana build) in the 9 days the demo was available.

This is by far the greatest demo I've ever played.

NioH is now my most anticipated game of the year and it's not a competition.

Team Ninja gets massive props for making the game I never thought I wanted but suddenly I desperately need.

Once that combat clicks - fuuuuuuck it's amazing.

Day one.

You're doing some kind of parry move. You have to let go of guard to do an actual attack.

Yeah, don't attack while you're guarding.

You're doing a parry.

why oh why can't they just let us play the demo offline until full release :( oh well, I guess it's because the final result will likely be pretty different and this demo will no longer be a fair example
