PAL Charts - Week 19, 2016

Eh, that's a bit of a stretch. No doubt the game will sell big, especially for an indie title, but it isn't strictly a first-party release.

These answers have me convinced that Sony's next big game is a loooong ways away potentially. Horizon is dropping in 2017 for sure. GT Sport? Given long how those games take to be made, a 2016 release is unlikely, but we'll see. There is that event coming up in three days time after all. Fingers crossed for TLG not being delayed to next year.

No Man's Sky is going to be massive for PS4 and even though it's not a full exclusive, I wouldn't discount it from big games Sony has for this year.

As for the sales, damn U4 did great and Doom selling significantly more on PS4 is good news for Sony.

I predicted 185K for UC4. Really nice growth.

It is Ratchet and Clank still holding so well that needs a shoutout though.

Ratchet & Clank had a good second week hold, but sales have halved every week since then.

[Week 16, 2016] RATCHET & CLANK (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) ~ 38,000 / NEW
[Week 17, 2016] RATCHET & CLANK (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) ~ 19,400 / 57,400 (-49%)
[Week 18, 2016] RATCHET & CLANK (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) ~ 9,500 / 66,900 (-51%)
[Week 19, 2016] RATCHET & CLANK (SONY COMPUTER ENT.) ~ 4,800 / 71,700 (-50%)

Yep Ratchet is doing much better than anyone thought possible.

Sony are having a great year for exclusives already. With No Man's Sky they'll likely have three no1 games in the first half of the year.
Indeed. A really strong first half for Sony.

Now, if they can just do the same for the second half. :p

Mhm, that is fair. I guess I was more focusing on it still charting in the top 5 or what not given how most exclusives usually plummet down the chart after launch.

No Man's Sky has been promoted alongside PS4 for a good long while now.
It's pretty similar to the original Titanfall situation except that the PS4 has a huge market to back it up. Expecting it to do same numbers as Bloodborne (so 2-3 million on the PS4 by end of year).
Uncharted 4 will probably do ten million by end of year.

I can see No Man's Sky doing 'indie good' but can't see it achieving 'AAA good' numbers. The average punter hasn't a clue what it is, if they've heard of it.

Man some of you have really high expectations for no mans sky. I think it will do something similar to an until dawn or ratchet. The reviews will probably dictate the sales.

Anyways great sales for uc4. It might not hold onto number 1 for too long since over watch will probably beat it

It would do great to do r&c numbers

Agreed. Looks promising but the whole concept of the game still feels quite nebulous. Some spectacular reviews across the board at launch could push it up some, but its all sounding a bit too smart and off kilter for most people.

Also depends on marketing and Sony have been very non-committal outside their big franchises. Until Dawn took them by surprise with no adverts. A lot of it will depend on how much they get behind it.

I think Sony will put alot behind it. They've been supporting it for awile now.

Either way it's going to be an interesting one to watch.

There's no way Gearbox can expect any kind of Borderlands legs with Battleborn now.

It's funny, who ever shout those sales PR loudest actually sold the worst.

I wonder if we'll start to see publishers put the brakes on MOBA's after Battleborn's performance? Particularly those that aren't F2P. I think people were expecting it not to do well, but these numbers seem to be even lower than that. This is the type of performance that could potentially sink a developer if they didn't have something like Borderlands to fall back on.

Unfortunately a lot of them are way too down the line to stop now.

It's exactly the same as the MMO fest we endured after World of Warcraft's success. Everyone and their dog hopping on the bandwagon, and most of them aren't bringing enough to the table to justify players swapping games. In some ways it's even worse than MMOs, because most MOBAs are using the league of legends system for obtaining characters which makes it very, very hard to swap games after you have sunk a lot of cash into your character pool.

Ultimately, I only see LoL, Dota, Heroes of the Storm and probably Smite surviving. None of the others is fresh enough to justify its existence IMHO.

Almost 200K for U4 huh? Not bad.

France Week 18

01 (01) 3DS YO-KAI WATCH
02 (02) PS4 RATCHET & CLANK
03 (NE) PS4 BATTLEBORN
04 (04) PS4 GRAND THEFT AUTO V
05 (03) PS4 CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS III

Yokay Watch is killing it in France and Spain. :D

Waiting for the neo to drop so I can get a ps4 and play uncharted.

Thinking the same.

In 2015-early 2016 I was all set to buy a PS4 and Uncharted 4 and GT sport, which ever came first. With the Neo news I really don't want to buy a standard PS4 now, too excited about GT Sport on Neo.

Seems a bit odd to buy a standard PS4 to play GT Sport for a few months and then sell it and get a Neo, might as well wait. Maybe I'll give in if GT Sport looks great and drops very soon and also buy Uncharted 4 but the Neo is a real curve ball.

Have waited 2.5 years for something to play on PS4 in order to buy one, might as well wait a few more months for Neo

Why did Sony give this game significant time at their PSX presser again?

U4 did really well. Well, my prediction was 50k off.

Ratchet hold strong, even against new releases.

[Week 19, 2016] DOOM (BETHESDA SOFTWORKS) < 75,000 / NEW (less than Wolfenstein: The New Order)

PlayStation 4 (56%)
Xbox One (38%)
PC (5%)

Holy shit about Doom PS4/Xbone split. Didn't expected that.

It did less than TNO, so it's not a good debut. The word of mouth seems solid for DOOM, so it could have legs.

Just going to reiterate here, TNO was a Tuesday debut and DOOM was out on a Friday. I have the numbers for both games and if you were to count an equal number of days, DOOM would very likely have the higher number. Because of the way GfK reports are done, it only counts the days since release until the Monday when the charts are posted.

I don't think it would matter materially. your only talking a few thousand 3 extra days isn't going to suddenly double the sales.

Dooms has had more PR, Advertising and E3 spots, to get Wolfensteins numbers +-20% is an under performance IMO.

It wouldn't need to double the sales, the gap isn't as big as that.

As I've said, I get GfK charts, I have the numbers. Three days extra sales is more than enough for DOOM to overtake TNO, albeit not by a huge margin.

Wolfenstein actually had a longer marketing campaign.

Quantum Break legs seem... broken.

Is there a price drop for it already? Will be interesting to see if that reverses its fortunes.

Ratchet & Clank had a good second week hold, but sales have halved every week since then.

Makes me wonder what's going to happen between Sony and Insomniac going forward, still the most success with a publisher Insomniac has had despite them lusting after the big Respawn/Bungie money and wanting IP ownership.

In terms of debut week sales ‘Uncharted 4’ is by far the most successful launch in the series beating ‘Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception debut week by 66%.

01 (NE) PS4 UNCHARTED 4: A THIEF'S END (SONY COMPUTER ENT.)

There were well over 1000 copies of UC4 available second hand ON THE DAY OF ITS RELEASE here at a well known store (nationwide). Wonder how much the "pre availability" of it affected sales.

So Only CoD, GTA and FIFA above UC4.

I wander what will be the next week drop.? I will be impressed if its less than 75%. I expect it to be around 80%. can you give all the above games week 2 sales and drops? especially SW:BF and Desting & WD?

Thank you. I think SW:BF movie released in the second week or is there any other reason for low drop. But if we see less then 70% drop for U4 then that will definitely be impressive

Not second week for the Star Wars movie. It did lower than expectations first week, but ended up having low drops and legs to make it a great seller.
