It would be cool, but I doubt it. But I would bet that this could be a re-release of the game with all DLC included.

If the announcement is at E3, it will be MK8 DLC though. (Which would almost assure an MK8 DX port for NX platforms).

I guess I didn't say it in this topic, but didn't Kimishima hint at more DLC was coming in general? I could see Mario Kart 8 DLC coming and for a few other Wii U games since the system is pretty much dead.

They hit it out of the park with the DLC on this game already. If they come out with more, it'd be the cherry on top of an already amazing package. I hope they aim to outdo the previous DLC output even! It was already amazing, but I hope they aim even beyond. Even if it's more money for more content, it'd be worth it no doubt.
Also, if they put out more DLC, it'll reawaken this year on Wii U even just a little bit. I'd love a reason to go back to Mario Kart 8. Easily the best entry in the series.

Then why would they specifically use #mk8 instead of just #mk or #mariokart.
This would be very strange since its been so long but maybe they are doing this cause it would require less development and resources and its an easy sell since they know wii u is winding down.

I'd even buy Mario Kart 8 Complete Edition (Wii U, all 3 DLC's in 1 disc) and make it my GOTY.
This is a good selection of track ideas. But with regards to Mega Man, I think it would be better if a remake of the City Course track (and his main theme) from 'Rockman: Batlle & Chase' would be a more fitting inclusion.

I hope so, because another DLC pack would almost assuredly have a Splatoon track and characters, and that would be inkredible.

Ideally, it's a tease towards an NX port with extra content (like they've been rumoured to be doing with Smash), but I don't want to look into it too much. Still, I don't see why they didn't just use #MarioKart if it was a joke in relation to the series. I really can't blame anyone for having their hopes raised by this.

If they plan on making MK9 in the future, I wonder how it will top MK8? The only problem I have with MK8 is the battle mode other than that the game was/is fun to play. I like some of the tracks in this game. Especially the dlc content. Mute City, Big Blue, Rainbow Road SNES, and Excite Bike are my favorite tracks.

Starting that several month lead-up to revealing my main man Funky Kong is BACK I see. In all seriousness, I'd take even just a lot of cut characters like the Kongs, Birdo, Bowser Jr., etc. being brought back. Games too good to have so many cut character's.

Its about MK and MK8 is their active mk game. Thats how social media marketing works. The idea is that someone checks MK8 tag and sees stuff like this. Then MK8 seems like an active trend. At the same time, fans are encouraged to post tweets like that with MK8 tag to make it trending.
Mario Kart 8 won't get an NX port. On average it takes 3 years to make a new Mario Kart and Mario Kart released 2 years ago in May. Mario Kart 9 is very likely going to be an NX launch game
Unfortunately the NX was meant to launch Xmas 2016 but it got delayed. So Nintendo are just trying to quickly put togeather something to sell over the Holiday period. And DLC for their Pre Existing games makes the most sense
