Looks really nice. 2TB seems overkill though.
Ahem........

Never. You plug it in in the battery compartment like normal AA batteries. And you're done.

Plug in the USB cord that comes with it, or any standard micro-USB cord for that matter, and it'll charge just like you had a internal battery.

https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Play-Charge-Kit/dp/B00DBDPOZ4/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1465801724&sr=1-3&keywords=xbox+one+battery+pack
Damn you, now I remember that this argument was seriously used by people who defended the shortcomings of the DS4's battery life when it first become known.
So why the controller not come with one??? Why I need to buy a battery pack???

About your other part... think about that... I was saved in a lot of competitive online matches or even Dark Souls play because I can change the constriller in less than 5 seconds.

It is really great to shift controller fast without need to change batteries. It can be a non issue for a lot of gamers but it is for others.

The use of a battery like an internal one with recharge via controller USB is fine for me like the Xbox One controller... no complain but it needs to come with the controller without any add cost.

Xbox sales collapsed even at < $300, in their biggest region. No way this thing will make an impact unless it'll sell for 250, that is, if ps4 doesn't drop in price.

It should make an impact as long as it's no more than the current price of the Xbox One ($299) simply due to it being a new model; Some current Xbox One owners will upgrade. Some who want a 4K Blu ray player will buy it if it's that price too. This is also outside of the fact that Gears of War 4 will more than likely have a console bundle with a slim model.

So yeah, it should do well as long as it's not over $299.

But the UHD-BluRay drive is still a rumor isn´t it?

I just think it is too expensive and they just mean 4K for streaming apps.

They can put in the UHD drive into the scorpio. By then the price will be not that big of a factor anymore.

There is almost no chance MS recalls perfectly working and sellable consoles.

What recall? If Microsoft has any competency in operations they have planned out their production and inventory of the current Xbox One such that current Xbox One stock will sell out reasonably shortly after the new model is introduced.

Anyone who claims to want an integrated battery has to be trolling. No other explanation. Truly.

If you don't like eneloops turn in your gamer card.

Well...obviously.

2TB Slim is probably $450. 1TB for $400, 500GB, which I don't see getting phased out at $349.

They'll have to put a price drop on the current models, so $250 for a original 500GB model sounds a lot more realistic

The integrated battery eliminated the need to buy an extra accessory is the big selling point.

That and the reduced weight is absolutely a selling point for me.

I've gotta turn in my "gamer card" apparently for this opinion good lord.

Seriously game controller batteries are the single worst aspect of NeoGAF. Its as if people here don't understand that not everyone has the same preferences or use cases when this discussion comes around.

If the controller come with the battery recharged pack (via it own controller) it will be all good... the best of the worlds I guess.

BTW the weight is a selling point too.

Wut? You can buy the old controller if you wish lol

There is only one option right now.

MS is finally giving another better option.

And "I like" and "I don't like" move the world and makes all the difference.

Well take me less than 10 seconds to put my controller on desk and get a new one...

Before my controller battery ends my other controller will be ready again.
I kinda feel like it's 2013 all over again but "yay I can save money on rechargeables... All I have to do is always have a spare controller " seems illogical 😁

Edit: you can probably get a play and charge kit and some superglue cheaper than a spare controller and make.your own internal battery!

Tbh unless you really care about cables and stuff, there is no reason to get a high HDD capacity Xbox One, you pay for way higher price for the additional storage where you can simply add by connecting an external HDD, which is also faster than the internal HDD's SATA2 interface.

Not sure if real but there seems to be a GameStop list floating around showing the price of $449 for the 2tb model, placeholder release dates and of a few other products.

The 1TB unit has to start around 300 USD , otherwise it´s DOA
But I honestly can´t imagine that they charge additional 149 just for a 2TB HDD

Has SATA2 been confirmed?

Xbox One controller can be used corded without batteries as well. Unlike the 360 controller.
You could plug in the Xbox 360 controller and use it without batteries.
I think you're mixing up the fact that the Xbox One's controller switched to a wired transmission mode when plugged in whereas the Xbox 360 continued to use wireless even when plugged in.

It's always been a strange argument. Like having more options is somehow worse than having an integrated battery especially when you end up with a pretty poor integrated battery in the DS4's case.

Want an integrated battery? Play and charge kit.
Want to stay wireless? Eneloops.

Don't want to do either? Hook up a micro usb cable.

As for weight that's purely down to preference, you get people here on Gaf who want their controllers to feel heavier. Myself I'm not fussed either way.

(Sorta) speaking of controllers, has MS ever tried selling a bundle or SKU with a smaller controller? I have pretty small hands (like, small for a woman) and ever since the OG Xbox I've had issues with the controller. Obviously, since I was even younger and smaller then. I know It seems minuscule for most people but it would really be something I considered in the Neo vs Scorpio internal debate.

Integrated batteries on Phones / Laptops / Whatever are generally considered particularly consumer unfriendly.

Until we get to a PlayStation controller, when it suddenly becomes the best option.

It's definitely in. I can vouch for it.

A new console SKU with a smaller controller is probably too niche to justify. No reason they couldn't just make a smaller controller as a separate item though. I've heard plenty of people wish for one. Just don't know if that would a console seller for enough people.

I may pick this up by the end of 2016, not sure if Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Horizon and Sunset Overdrive alone are worth it, but maybe Microsoft conference today can help me a bit. ;)

There are plenty of games that are a few dozen GBs in size though, can add up for ppl who are all digital with moderate libraries.

Also may help with storage for 4K video for people who'll do it? Is streaming 4K a viable thing now?

Netflix and co offer it, it's been the only simple way to get 4K stuff for a while

I dont think you will see an actual 4k blu ray drive in there.

Definitely think it will be just 4k streaming and Scorpio will maybe have an actual drive.

Not sure what the point of just adding streaming support would be.

Surely all TVs with 4k and HDR will already have a NetFlix and Amazon app native. I assume the One S will have a UHD BD drive.

I know its fun to position this as Playstation bias but enclosed batteries haven't been a problem with the wider consumer base for a very long time. It became a non-issue when Android phone manufacturers started to use huge batteries where daily battery life became more or less a non-issue. When it is an issue for the odd day you need to run from 6am to 12pm, power banks are often just as good of a solution as a spare battery as you don't need to turn the phone off to use it. No one offers removable batteries because consumers don't care about this feature seriously.

If it was a serious selling point in this day and age, the LG G5 would be a wild success but you just have most people pretty unimpressed with it.

Are people unimpressed with it BECAUSE it has a removable battery? Or for entirely unrelated reasons that don't actually have any bearing to this argument.
