Just thought of this, with the rumoured rebranding of macOS, do we think it'll also stop being 10.12 and become more just like iOS? So the new OS will just be 12. I think for consistency, it will change.

It makes sense, but I think that from OS X (OS 10) it should go to macOS 11.

Although I guess both work.

macOS 11 if it takes into account all the Mac OS legacy and the new brand is a return to basics.

macOS 12 if it starts counting from OS X and if macOS is just seen as a rebrand of OS X.

I reckon they'll just drop the 10.* prefix so it'll start from 12.0 and then follow their other OS version convention, so 12.0.1 for small bug fix releases and 12.1 for some new features with a bunch of bug fixes, etc.

I doubt they'll make it 11.0, it would've made sense to make that move by rebranding when Yosemite came out with its major UI changes, but I think that ship has sailed. It's possible though. I wonder if they'll still keep the nicknames going.

Got here about five minutes ago, and there're at least a couple hundred in line. Growing fast!

Are you sure?

WWDC is all about software so we'll see the new OS that will go on the MBP but rumors (read Mark Gurman) continue to say no hardware at this event. If by surprise they want to announce it, it'll be another "one more thing" type reveal or they'll wait for a special Fall event

Hopefully its a complete overhaul of Apple Music. The client is shite on iOS, Android and on iTunes. Apple have the music we just need a better UI/UX. Plus get rid of Connect its pointless and have emphasis on shared playlists - Spotify still have the edge with following other users.

If they do that I'll switch back especially after the student offer.

I hope they overhaul watchOS. I hardly use the apps on it, so it's mostly a fitness tracker, notification and calendar device.

iTunes UI is shite. Apple Music can be a very viable product for a streaming service but they put too much emphasis on buying the tracks/albums instead of just streaming. IIRC they're thinking about getting away from sales so hopefully they mention something about that later today.

Obviously we won't see anything today, but this dark blue iPhone 7 that is going around the rumor sites looks beautiful.

Hopefully Apple shows some cool stuff today. Like iPad Pro running the full Creative Suite...

Rumors say it will come out in Q4 2016 - which is before or in September for Apple. If that rumor is correct they have to announce it tonight?

Yeah, well history doesn't dictate the future.

Yes, but you can make a pretty good prediction on what's going to happen.

It's not impossible Apple shows a new iPhone today, but it's very, very, very, very unlikely.

But the same thing happens every year. WWDC rolls around, and people start asking "New iPhones?"

After trying to watch E3 and follow gaf at the same time, I realised it would be great to get some sort of PiP mode on Mac. I know I can split screen a fullscreen video, but it just wastes a lot of space.

Most products Apple announce ship like a week after announcement. At least new generations.

If Apple decided not to unveil any new MacBooks today, when would they? I would have thought due to them having big updates, they would want a lot of exposure, ruling out a silent update, but they don't typically have conferences between WWDC and the September iPhone event. The iPhone event will presumably be focusing on the iPhone and Apple Watch line up and I can't see them waiting till the spring conference either.

I want an upgraded Airport Express. I imagine that would just be a soft launch at some point though. Not sure it's WWDC worthy.

As someone with no serious complaints about Apple Music on iOS, I'm curious to see what this redesign will bring. Are there things I don't know I'm missing? Possibly.

As is though, it works well for me.

Look, buddy, I don't know what game you're trying to play here but it's not working on me.

Siri, turn on dark mode.

"Sorry, I'm not able to change that setting."

Awh yis.

Update: Siri also now appears to be hinting at another OS X feature that doesn't currently exist in iOS: asking the personal assistant to "turn on dark mode" results in the response, "Sorry, but I'm not able to change that setting."

Don't get your hopes up. If you ask Siri anything with "Turn on..." she responds "Sorry, I'm not able to change that setting."

Most looking forward to iOS 10, Apple Music Revamp, and macOS.

Hoping for any hardware related announcement but doubtful on it.

Same here. I find outside of the occasional problem, Apple Music is fine. I welcome any changes to the better.
