PS VR Aim Controller -- Designed for PS4 shooters, 1:1 precision, no PSMove required.

Neat idea but seems a bit superfluous given the majority of early VR adopters will already have a move and nav controller. That plus the original sharpshooter is only around £15 anyway.

It it also a fully moulded unit or can the move controller part be taken out to use in other games?

Looks interesting, but most FPS games I've seen for VR actually use handguns, rather than 2-handed machineguns.

They really should use the 2handed grip unless the second han is used for something else because the floating hands destroy my perception of games like that.
2handed grip would decently simulate holding this controller imo.

can't believe they didn't consider a shoulder stock. That seems like a huge oversight to me. It might not be necessary for this game, but it would have made it much more flexible for future games

also in the impressions they say you can't rotate using the controller, you rotate your body (head) to turn in the game. But you can't turn 360 degrees and still have the controller track, so how will they handle that?

Am i the only one who gives absolutely 0-fucks what it looks like as long as it works well?

And that "ball" is pretty damn important.

Nope. I'm with you.

You're standing in front of your tv with a mask over your face looking ridiculous AF already. It's obvious you don't care what you look like so why does the appearance of the controller matter?

Yeah, I think it's a nice update to the Sharpshooter. That said, already have that, so I don't want to have to buy this.

Not a Jellyfish

but I am a sheep
I think that looks awesome.

The joystick placement is perfect. Just looking at it I already know how to hold it and it makes sense.

Really interested in trying it but I am not going to be an early adopter on PSVR. Price is too steep.

Not keen on the colour but that looks like it would work well in shooters. Prefere the look to the old version. it's for VR games, you're not going to see what you're holding so a imple design that does what it's supposed to seems appropriate.

I've still got a couple of these. :)

Hopefully it's not broken like the Sharpshooter. That thing fucked up the wand's tracking every time for me. It was also far too heavy to use for long periods of time.

Why does it have to be white and pink? If it was designed in part by Farpoint's developer why does it not match the game stylistically?

I think they purposefully tried to make it as different from a gun as they could, what with the things that are going on nowadays.

Both from a political and social point of view, having your product, that you are aiming (no pun intended) at children and teenagers, resembling a gun might be a little hard to sell, even if thats exactly what its mimicking.

Even though this picture is supposed to be funny, it actually brings an interesting point, "security". Especially with some many terrorist attacks and gratuitous violent incidents, I wonder if some developers/manufactures are trying to make devices like this that are still ergonomic and precise, but don't have the looks of a real gun, to avoid any necessary comments like "videogames are evil", etc etc etc.

It's 1:1 tracking for position, which you don't care, but it seems it's still gyro + magnetometer for aiming, which is bad for shooters :/

They really should have put a camera sensor on the gun and fixed beacons in the room...

As long as it works better than PS Move. That thing had more noticeable delay than Wiimotes and constantly drifted away from its calibration.

If this is more accurate and responsive, I'll definitely grab it when I get a PSVR. I just don't think I'll be getting a PSVR until they streamline and integrate the external processing box, because I'm not going to run that many wires across my entertainment center.

Fuck, so much for my hopes.

Why are you guys saying that the ball is pink only?

You do know that Move's rubber ball thingy changes color depending on the game, right?

A single Move can change into any of these colors:

"no move required" seems like an odd bulletpoint when it seems to be that exact tech shoved into an irremovable plastic case...a plastic shell would actually be more versitile like the original sharpshooter.

I'll pass on this for now though I do wish they had a normal move with an analog. Really have to wonder why they didn't just leave a light orb on top of the nav controller.

It's just clarifying that it's not a shell that you shove your own Move into, which is how a lot of these motion controller variants work.

Looks like a Move Lightgun, which I am totally cool with.
Nyko made a gun controller so I got that, but this does look neat.

The most important piece of tech on this unit is not the LED at the front, but the IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit ). IMU's are used on more advanced motion controls such as the Hydra, Oculus Touch, and HTC Vive. This is what gives it the more accurate 1:1 mapping in 3D space.

On the bright side no police is ever going to mistake it for a real weapon and kill you for carrying it around.

While people are saying it looks uncool. I think the whole point was for it to NOT look like a weapon. We don't need gaming peripherals that can be confused for real firearms.

Two things people:

1. No matter what you're holding in your hands, with a glowing screen strapped to your face, interacting with a world that no one else can see (or that they can only see in 2D) you aren't going to look cool.

2. You won't give a shit. Because you'll be exploring an alien world while protecting your life from strange creatures. Or fighting off zombies. Or whatever. You're going to feel like an awesome badass.

But you won't look like one.

Seth Luisi is behind this right?

He was behind the original Socom launch and I bet that similar to how that was bundled with a headset that every copy of Farpoint will come with this for $50-$60.

well i guess that explains my only question with VR. How you would move. I Guess there waas the nav controller, but i think this option is better

Some people seems to be missing the fact this has 2 analogue sticks, which can't be replicated by Move + Nav Controller in a shell.

Allows for full range of movement within the game.

Seems like PS Move and Navigation controller is built-in, so no extra accessories required when playing VR Shooters.

I don't think this is true at all... Specifically the NavCon looks like it can be slotted in.

It all looks pretty flushed to me. Click the photo and zoom in.

Looking better at it (and the new pictures), it seems I was wrong... Man, they better find a way to support the sharpshooter (would miss second analog) because I don't want to plonk down another $50+ while I have basically all the accesories needed for this.

Could be fun to buy these kind of things... still I don't have space to have these kind of controllers, like the wheel for driving games...
They should also think about being able to "close" these kind of gadgets when you have to put them away.

Maybe if it become a standard in vr games I will buy it (hope it will not be always that expensive)

I hope that the classic sharpshooter still works!

Me too and I don't see why it wouldn't work in most games, since it just triggers move controller buttons. Also, I think I recall seeing pictures of it being used in live demos at other psvr events in Europe this year. It's a great peripheral especially if you add a shoulder strap for comfort.

"We need something for shooting that increase the sense presence".

Never mind using the analogue stick for moving around. How is that doing to the sense of presence? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
