Can someone explain to me why they always put the actor's name above another actor? It's consistent in pretty much every poster.

Photoshop posters were a mistake.
Yeah it always bugs me. I think the order in the billing is controlled by SAG or something? But why don't they just compose the poster to fit the bill?

I'll never understand why this is considered among the 'the worst ever' in these threads. Sure it's a head swap but you see this in all kinds of media all the time, it's far from the worst compositing.

Order of importance: we read from left to right, but we see an image first from the center, then the sides.
So the most important actor has the name on the left, but usually is put in the middle of the poster.
Just has to do with contractual obligations on credit billings. Many actors stipulate in their contract where their name must be placed on a poster/promotional material, even going so far as to demand the size of their name. That's why names don't line up oftentimes.

I am pretty sure it's intentional. It forces you to spend more time reading the poster, which is what they want.
