Now I know this is a silly question, but did the referendum contain wording that excludes further votes in the next two years to call this off? Like maybe when the people wake up tomorrow and realize what they have done?

nope, the vote was very clearly worded. No mention of further votes on the matter. It was : remain in the EU or leave.

I asked earlier and got a few responses, but I'm seriously wondering. Can an independent Scotland support itself economically?

From my limited understanding, Scotland's economy is significantly subsidized by England.

It will be tough but we are a small nation with some decent export and will swiftly get rid of Trident.

Nope situation has changed, we were told our EU status was protected if we stayed, we had no choice on this vote we had to accept it.

Look forward to the next 24 hours of the same Scots who were scared into voting No getting called morons and told you made your vote, no going back on it.

And the Labour Party probably trying to blame us for Brexit.

Can someone help with my questions?

Okay, couple of questions.

1) What happens when markets open?
Absolute carnage, sell everything and invest in Gold.

2) What happens if it's 'bad'?
I'm not sure there is an if. When it is bad, the global economy will be sent spiralling into recession, Unemployment is gonna go up, many businesses will stop being businesses, but hey at least we can stop the mass immigration of eastern Europeans who have actually had a positive impact on our economy.

3) What is the likelihood of inflation and recession etc?
Recession is all but a lock atm.

I'm American and I barely followed this at all beyond doing some minimal reading and figuring out I wanted remain to win, so sorry to all the Brits who are gonna get screwed by this.

It's wild scrolling thru this thread and seeing like 80 upset posts in a row and then a random turd-in-punchbowl post like "yasssss #freedom #celebrate" lol

The British chose to be the shadow of a failed empire over being a part of one of the biggest trading blocks, one that could leverage it's size against the likes of USA, Russia and China.

Nobody ever said people were smart. A large majority are idiots at best.

Ok, I can work with these, we manufacture export goods.

I am shocked at how devastated this decision has made me feel.

yup exports are good, unless your raw/source materials are mostly exported

that is why Japan doesn't like a strong yen, they rely on exports

The Irony of a bunch of Idiots Parroting about making England great again when in the end all they have done is finally kill off the United Kingdom

So as a Canadian what does this mean long-term? If Great Britain somehow dissolves does that mean the end of the commonwealth? Will that shape how our own government works with the queens involvement?

Either way, European jimmies seem rustled to the extreme because of this.

So as a UK Citizen (scottish) with a UK passport that is due for renewal early next year...a permanant resident in australia and getting my citizenship here this December.

WTF does this mean - I cant travel to the EU/US this year??

Agreed and if they had said, we refuse to vote as we don't want to leave...would have more sympathy....but they wanted to make Scotland's voice heard...well we heard and still lost...

I don't know any legal reasons if they could of blocked the referedum in Scotland, so I might be talking shit
wouldn't make a change

For you.
You will also make political decision that your future children have to live with.
Its really disgusting to me that some now insult old people for using their democratic right they are much longer here, have seen much more and have had much more experience.
In the past old people were a seen as a treasure drove of knowledge and experience today they get insults if they dont vote "right".
There's no knowledge or experience here. Just fearmongering and bigotry.

I love how people don't get the irony of my Braveheart pic. I do agree with the UK leaving the EU, as I hate the EU and what it has done to certain countries. Specifically, I think Merkel is on a power trip and carrying on the history of Germans controlling other nations.

However, the use of the Braveheart pic is hilarious to me because Scotland has been dragged into all this because of England. Maybe sad for some but the irony in it was just too good to pass up.

On another note, that was the most epic FREEEEEEEDOOOOOOOM scream I could think of.

I think Scotland and Ireland will be having the last laugh.

So if this result encourages Northern Ireland and Scotland to break off from the rest of the UK, we could be witnessing the beginning of the dissolving of the UK as we know it...

Kind of ironic that the Leave supporters wanted to make a stronger UK.

Nikkei 225 is already down over 7%, will be interesting when the markets in EU and NA open.

Fuck.

At the least that means that the DOW will probably be down less than that. It doesn't move down much as other indexes in times like these.
