They still have some big wrenches in Cersei, Littlefinger, and Euron. Each one of them probably gets to fuck up at least one big thing for everyone else. And there's always the possibility that something goes wrong between Jon and Dany and they end up fighting.

I'm really hoping they take the amount of time, and focus, they have to build Euron into something more than your average Ironborn dreg.

I don't see LSH happening. I see Arya (given the direction they're taking her) meeting up with BwB and handling some of the LSH vengeance stuff. I could see Arya dying next season, TBH.

Something has to happen with the dragons. Otherwise I agree that Dany is OP. Could be the dragonhorn, or the ice dragon, comes in to mix this up.

I don't see Arya dying, but the rest of this I definitely feel the same about, especially Euron.

Yeah I think something will happen with the dragons. The main book of note in Oldtown is all about dragons, I'm guessing Sam (or Pate/FM) finds that and/or meets Marwyn

I am actually stunned at how fantastic this last ep was, it was like a different show than the last 3 seasons. I wish we could have gotten a show that was this fantastic all the time

Sadly, my lord, Miguel Sapochnik is only available for an episode or two per season.

I dislike the Arya thing more and more as I think about it. In a vacuum the idea is awesome, it's something that I should be cheering for, but I just feel cheated by it.

We watch two seasons of endless scenes with Arya sitting around doing nothing in Braavos, and once she finally leaves, she just magically appears killing Frey as a shock moment? This is a character I want to follow, I want to see her journey! She's had her long and boring magical assassin training, so now I want to go see her go back home, figure out what she's going to do, make a plan, execute it, all that good stuff. Instead all of that is skipped in favor of a "surprise" moment that felt so out of left field I honestly wondered if it was a dream sequence at first.

Agreed. LSH isn't happening.

I wonder if Ep 1 of next season will have Dany landing in Westeros, or will she be at Sea all fucking season.

She can land episode 1, just make it the very last shot of the episode to allow stuff to happen in Kings Landing before it turns to chaos.

I feel like they just tacked on the LSH story from the books to Arya to give her something to do til her endgame arc kicks in. I think she will have a frodo role and end up dying either as Jons nissa nissa or assissinating the nights king or high level lieutenant

Euron will offer his fleet to Cersie, a sea battle will wipe out most of the Dothrakis and some of the Unsullied. Dany will have to form an alliance with the North and head to Kings Landing for the final battle before the zombies attack.

Now I remember there were photos from set with Shae's actress in Mereen, that amounted to anything right? Makes you wonder if they invite previous actors on set just to mess with the leakers and paparazzis.

Taking bets. How likely are these events?

Dragon horn
Lady Stoneheart
Lava arm
Ice dragon

I mean right now it 100% looks like "Dany and Jon team up to defeat the white walkers and rule Westeros. The end." How are you going to stretch that for 14 more episodes? I want to see some wrenches thrown in gears.

Dragon Horn - Likely, as itll throw a wrench into things and keep things interesting.
LSH - Not happening =(
Lava arm - ???
Ice dragon - lol

i imagine theyll also bring in the horn of winter, as the wall needs to be brought down somehow.

Most likely that was just locations being close by. Spain for instance is usedt o film both Dorne and Mereen scenes, so even though the stories don't intersect the actors will be in the same place.

But Shae died three two seasons ago. I think (hope) they invited her just to screw with us. Here's to seeing Michelle Fairley on set next season!

i could see the Night King unveiling an ice dragon at a pivotal moment in the final season. seems like the type of shocking grand event that the show likes to go for.

euron, out of nowhere, breaking out a magic horn to control dragons would feel like such a cheap attempt to de-power dany. i really can't see it happening. i don't even like it in the book's universe, and in the show's it would be even worse

I feel like Euron and Cersei are gonna team up with a dragon horn and take some of Dany's dragons :(

Only thing I can remotely imagine is lava arm, and if it is, it's a watered down version cause muh CGI budget.

Dragon horn ain't gonna happen. They would've shown it during the kingsmoot to give Euron at least something more than just a vulgar version of Yara's speech.

I think Dany will have to fight Euron on the sea. His relatives are still a threat and he has the dragon horn so it's possible he wants them for his own.
Both have a great armada of ships and the battle will cause many deaths, possibly killing way more Dothraki than she can fear which will make her making friends with Westeros people.

I wouldn't be surprised if they invited old actors to help cover for Kit being seen on set.

I still think it's pretty stupid that all those Martell and Tyrell ships sailed to Meereen, only to turn their ships 180 degrees so they could sail back again.

Tyrion specifically says they have "almost" enough ships with the Ironborn and Slavers fleets. The Martell and Tyrell ships were needed for the rest (and to set up a season-ending cool shot).

True... But if he revealed he had Dragonbinder, what would stop Yara and Theon telling Dany about it. I kind of like the idea of him keeping his secrets for now, and revealing it at a more opportune time.

Or we won't see either horn at all haha. Also possible.

The source material in books 4 and 5 don't really allow for that unfortunately.

Im really looking forward to the next 2 seasons now that the story is firmly pointed to the end.

Where is this "Lava Arm" bullshit coming from?

Victarion Greyjoy's charred hand. Since Victarion doesn't seem to be a show character, perhaps they'll have Jorah run into a red priest or priestess, and he'll end up with the charred hand/arm?

Victarion's wound and Connington's greyscale combined, etc.

"As his crew gathered, whispering and trading glances, he raised a charred and blackened hand. Wisps of dark smoke rose from his fingers as he pointed at the maester."

"Sometimes when Victarion closed his hand the skin would split and smoke, yet the arm was stronger than it had ever been."

But the show heavily diverted from the material in books 4 and 5 anyway? I don't really see your point. It hardly followed those plotlines.

The best parts of the past couple episodes is that they involved events of direct consequence to the core story. Books 4 and 5 don't have much in that regard, way too much travel, mediocre world building, and extra characters . It's like the writers knew they couldn't directly translate that material so they took it in different directions to try and fill episodes and it didn't work out. Best course of action would have been to just combine those books into one season and get through it but I'm not sure if that's what HBO wanted.

Hopefully that is all done and we get nothing but pure story going forward.

Do we have any confirmation that the director who worked on the last two episodes is signed on for more work?

Is still think that the series get a happy ending despite what the author has said.

Well, given that the television show and books are telling different stories, it doesn't matter what Martin says about the ending for his books. D&D are doing their own thing. I think you're right, though. I don't think the showrunners have the guts to have a "bittersweet" ending. People would be upset.

Just look at how people bitch about (unrelated book series! don't click if you don't want to be spoiled!)
The Dark Tower
because it didn't have a happy ending. That's what most people want and that's what the show will deliver.

Ha!

last I remember Euron doesn't have the dragon horn in the books, he gave it to Victarion, who is on his way to Dany

it will probably just be used by dany to tame the 2 dragons she has locked up, in the show they just kinda get out and decide to follow her, in the books she will use the horn Victarion gives to her as a tribute

I'm almost convinced that Euron gets recast for Season 7. Somebody has to fill the void Ramsay left behind, and it's not this Tormund looking dude.

The writers said in the "Inside the Episode" of "The Door" back in May that GRRM gave them three "Holy shit" moments that were going to happen in the story. One was Shireen's burning, the second was Hodor's name being a derivative of "Hold the Door", and the third was something that would be at the very end.

I think for some characters, it will be a fitting or satisfying end, but I think a lot of characters are not going to find such happy conclusions. I except things to be both triumphant and also devastating, when all is said and done.

I think the TV series gets a happy ending (well, with some bittersweet elements), but the books will get a completely bittersweet ending (with evil being stopped, but most things left in ruin, and many dead).

The show literally didn't skip a scene between killing Ramsey at the end of episode 9 and revealing Mad Queen Cersei at the beginning of episode 10.

I feel like, since they have Dorne ships and Varys in that last shot, its meant to be them already sailing up to KL from Sunspear after picking all them up.

Did anyone bother to point out that Tyrion let Daenerys ally with the people who killed Myrcella? An innocent girl who did nothing?

Does he know who killed his niece?

Don't think about it too much

Not sure if he even knows yet. Perhaps that will get explored in season 7... Or perhaps it won't/doesn't affect him all that much.

There's absolutely no way Varys doesn't know, Myrcella had a public funeral in the beginning of the season.
Varys for sure. Tyrion I doubt.

But I'm leaning towards this not being a point of contention in the show. Tyrion's loyalty/fondness to his family name ever wanes.

Right

But the parallel potential there you could have with Jon sending away an ally because she murdered an innocent young girl and Dany refusing Dorne because they murdered an innocent young girl seems extremely obvious to me.
