God Eater: Resurrection |OT| "You have three orders..."

How did Toukiden turn out on PC out of curiosity? I only played the PS4 build.

Watch this video from TotalBiscuit.

Summary if you are at work:
- One patch caused framerates to drop during hub areas.
- Framerate is tied to physics and animations. Running game with G-sync causes game to speed up.
- Doesn't support 16:10 resolution.
- Poor mouse support for menus. Also, can't press any key other than the Enter key to continue after starting the game.
- Requires internet connection to play the game.

I really want this now, but worried the pc version will turn out like Toukiden. Any ideas?

Rather than Toukiden which is handled by Omega Force, shouldn't you look at other Bamco published games as reference? Afaik their latest Tales of played just fine on PC, with all the bells and whistles.

Thank you for that summary as I am in grad class hahah. :D Not that I think God Eater will turn out like this, but I do have a G-Sync high refresh rate monitor that while amazing can not always get along with each game that doesn't go all in on supporting that tech. Kind of happy I went for the PS4 GE2 pre-order package now. That's what it was on originally in Japan anywho. PC ports are new I believe.

This is true, although I could have sworn there was something weird about that Tales port.

Right I had to look it up but it was locked 30FPS. Didn't that have to do with the battle engine though that if pushed higher would throw the physics out of whack?

Why no reviews yet?
It's a remaster of a well established franchise within its fans, but niche to everyone else. Plus there are so many releases this week... this is my best guess.

Tales of Zestiria, seems like it has some weird issues with its framerate limiter, but was mostly a decent port.
Tales of Symphonia though was a pretty lousy port (especially at launch), that port was handled by Other Ocean though, so no surprises there...

Exactly what I was thinking of. Thanks man. :D Not a HUGE issue although I mostly prefer 60+ fps.

Yeah, I remember this situation very well. I was super excited for that Symphonia port too. How is it now?

Kaldaien's mod fixes alot of stuff and Namco got rid of the lousy anti-tamper thing the game had. Still 30fps locked (and internal resolution locked without Kaldaien's fix), but nothing much can be done about that.

Took these pics a while back, without and with Kaldaien's fix:

What on earth is the button for lock on? (PS4) Tried everything I could think of last night but couldn't work it out. Been so long since I played GE2 as well.

How's the Vita version of this? Deciding if I'd play it more portably or on home console

Yes it is, just no preorder for it as far as I understand.

Played GE2 on the Vita Japanese version and it was fantastic, runs really well and looks crisp and clean.

Looking forward to seeing it run on the PS4 with this remake.

:D :D :D I'm tempted to double dip for Vita already and I've barely had time to play my PS4 copy.

EDIT: Oh wait, that post in specific doesn't really answer your question. That's about 2. Let me find the post I was thinking of.

EDIT 2: Here we go...

I haven't gotten too far, only played for 2hrs last night so I haven't gotten to any of the missions with multiple enemies on screen. Game ran just fine.

It works great. Framerate is good so far and stable. Controls are not an issue since we have the right stick for camera. I can't compare to ps4 if they use the extra shoulders for blocking but on vita you will need to use the r1 in conjuction with O to block and triangle for link burst. Not a big issue and easy to do.

They use the same controls on the PS4, at least for the default control style.

Just got into a urgent mission with multiple zygots and orgetails and full squad. Game took a noticeble dip in framerate when firing bullets so it isn't perfect on vita.

Hm. I'm debating picking this up, but also MHG comes out in a few weeks and that will probably scratch the same itch.

Having a blast with it so far on PS4, hadn't heard much about this series. Is it supposed to be a "poor man's monster hunter"?

Is there somewhere online that explains the weapons in better detail? The way the game's database is not done very well and segments terms and abilities exclusive to weapons making it a chore to go through and it's not very thorough in the explanation either

And trying to create bullets using online guides is confusing since they are using the jp version.

Added my name to the list.
How does online mode work anyway? And like MH, is it best to focus on a single weapon type?

http://godeater.wikia.com/wiki/Equipment

found the section that explains weapons in better detail.

So far the game is interesting, but I'm curious why they unlock clothing for crafting and listing but I can't find any of the items for it.

when you reach a new chapter it unlocks everything that will be available, I think. So if you see something you haven't found yet just progress the story because it likely will be found on a new monster introduced later in the chapter.

I'm interested in the franchise that it's now in HD. But despite that, the game (Resurrection) seems to be looking like a PSP game still. I can deal with the graphics, but they can't hide the PSP-based character animation.

How is GE2 compared to this? Will it scream a handheld game as well?

Yes. It's less archaic, but GE2 was released for the PSP as well. The limitations of that platform still hold back GE2.

We've gotta wait till GE3 if we want to see a "from-the-grounds-up PSVita GE" game.

This looks practically identical to GE2. Heaps of the assets are identical.

Maybe Rage Burst will look a bit better? Because I don't think it was released on the PSP. But I wouldn't expect much.

Personally I thought GE2 looked great for a Vita game. Crisp and clear with great colours on the character models and native resolution.

With online multiplayer, do you just choose online game, and people just populate it, or are there rooms / invites?

online is dead and the game has only been out a few days. :(

I would expect most people to just be playing the campaign on their own. The game being story heavy and all. Game isn't available outside of the US (and the East obv) as well. Also, do not forget just how many games released on the same day as this. I for example am playing through ZTD and this at the same time. Then there are others playing Star Ocean, Technomancer, etc.

Fully agree with this. & it seems super niche, which is fine with me. I think the numbers will increase in August as well. For me, I'm focusing on single player and grasping all the mechanics, which I imagine a lot of people are.

Yes this has been a strange situation all around. I get that it's free with a digital preorder of 2, but most people I know buy physical games, and/or don't preorder, and anyone "in the know" knows this comes free in August with 2. I expect it to be dead. And even more, once 2 is out, won't everyone want to play that first? Haha what a weird thing.

They should have just released this now at $20 and if you own it digitally, you get a $20 discount on God Eater 2, making it $40 when it releases ($60 total for the package, same as it is now). Would have been a better promotion IMO, play through the first one now, ready for part 2 in Aug, building more hype. Hire me Bandai Namco.

It is a bit sad to me that they seem to have put quite a bit of work into the game yet they just treat it as a freebie for GE2. They totally redid the script and recorded everything from start to end. Localization of the text was mostly done from Burst, but it wouldn't surprise me if they brushed that up as well to fall in line with what is a part of the second game. But oh well. Burst is a game that a lot of people have played already so it had that going against itself. They knew the game people wanted was the second one.

I dont think Bandai Namco should hire you. Your idea makes no difference so you're just as terrible as they are right now.

Everyone already got this for $20 if you whether bought a $60 'pre-order' in advance or $20 standalone.

As for online portion;
It's not going to be that much of dead by the time God Eater 2 comes since it has yet to release in Europe and english version of Asia. They'll have to pick one of the games for to be the to-go online play. Unlikely it's GER but it never had a chance of being well active online. Sabotaging the vita version in US is really one way to go out.

I agree! That said... I preordered GE2 on PS4 a month back, knew I was getting GER packed in... broke down and bought GER yesterday for Vita because. They got me good.

Exactly the same for me. PReordered GE2 on amazon for PS4. Bought GER on vita right now. downloading. Im also going to end up buying GE2 physuical for vita from EU / Asia and giving away the code.

That's exactly what the sheet and this thread are for. GE2 will most definitely see the highest population in terms of online stuff, but if folks ever want to organize a few hunts before then, they are more than welcome to!

Crazy how much of GE2 is recycled from GE1. Maps, outfits, Aragami... It's all practically the same as I remember in GE2. Only the main characters are different and the story (And no blood arts). Would be hard to play through both back to back due to the repetition.

Hey so, how does online actually work? Choose continue online, and then we can create a lobby ala Monster Hunter, or differently?

I'm unclear on skills in general. A lot of them reference a level, "+1% per level" or "activates at level 10," but I can't figure out what the level refers to.

Is there a reason why God Eater: Resurrection is only $20 and God Eater 2: Rage Burst is $60?

I know Rage Burst will include Resurrection, but it's still triple the price.

Is Rage Burst that much bigger/better?
