Who knew that showing skin has always been part of cosplay

The base of cosplay is dressing like your favorite character... and the amount of almost naked women a long time ago was proportionaly bigger than today's amount.

If you want to accurately represents the character there is nothing you can do if the character is part of a sexist media

It's super common for cosplayers to take characters whose outfits aren't remotely revealing and turn them into something revealing. You can see that with the popular Slave Disney Princess cosplay or cosplayers that make sexy versions of male character costumes.

Part of a sexist media.

It is also common for the opposite, like the Owl pokemon and Rainbow Mika cosplays from DTJAAAAM post... but Kinyou is talking about the old cosplays which includes kinda accurate representation of characters like

Not that this is even remotely related to the thread, but the first thing I saw was Wendy Pini's name. I had no idea she wrote Red Sonja stories! I think I need to turn over my Elf Quest fan club card. :(

So anyway, I'll get back to lurking...

Amazing theme, and some great pictures. It's sort of funny how pale most of them are despite the pool-party atmosphere.

How was it aside from the Cosplaying?

I'm not the best judge since that is pretty much all I care about, haha. Resort itself was very nice, I even took off a portion of Sunday to actually swim in the water park instead of focusing on pics. I can see why the at-con hotel rooms are in such high demand.

Speaking of, found it ridiculous that the "easy" way of reserving a room for 2017 was standing in line for hours during this year's event. Heard many got shut out after waiting 5-6 hours, and the Monday phone reservations also went quickly.

Other than that, dealer room and Artist Alley looked tiny and lots of parties at night if you're into that scene, which I'm not.

Will definitely go again though, even if I have to stay at an overflow hotel!

Do you like to party, drink, and swim.

-Yes go.

Do you like great costumes, paneling, events, etc.

-No don't go.

It is the most party orientated con. I have a blast every year I go, but typically all I do is the former. Not the latter.

You had to be in line before 3pm it seemed. Friend who got our suite for next year was in line before 12pm.

The amount of sticky spray needed at the venue must have made somebody a mint. Someone needs to set up a booth.

Great photos as always DTJAAAAM!

HOLY SHIT that Happy Mask Salesman !

When I grow up I want to be that guy.

I can't even IMAGINE the amount of trouble he went for that cosplay. And all the masks are PERFECT
