Shigeru Miyamoto: Pikmin 4 still on-going, hard to fit on the list of priorities

If they're converting it to NX, I hope there won't be a Wii U version.
I understand that Nintendo doesn't want to piss off current Wii U owners, but they need some exclusive games on NX to sell some units.

They can release both versions, but focus on the NX version on ads?

Funny how much drama can be created out of so little. The quote basically says nothing. The game could be 100% done and it's just waiting to go through external QA.

Because these two statements, this statement and the previous one about the game mostly being done, seemingly contradict one another, surely there is either a translation error in one or both of these statements, or as speculated above the additional development load in wrapping up the game is significant. Still, to those maligning the idea that a delayed game is good, I think it's a philosophy that has almost always done good for Nintendo over the years. Additionally, to those losing faith in Miyamoto in general, I guess I would just mention that all responsibility for game development at the macro and micro level cannot possibly be on his shoulders.

I understood that Pikmin is a low tier priority for workforce programmers finishing the game...

like those projects that are on 90% but nobody works on it to actually finish.

We don't know anything about their NX software output yet and there isn't any info in this statement either. Stop stating unfounded speculation as fact.

We know that a game "almost done" as been indefinetely delayed because they had to prioritize other games.
If a game near completion had to be delayed to the point that he doesnt even know when they will be able to re focus on its development, that sounds simply as the usual nintendo in terms of ability to manage a plurality of software outputs

Totally forgot this was a thing that they announced. I guess it's not pretty much done (or whatever they said).

I don't think we have enough information to draw these conclusions, especially from translated statements. See below.

To elaborate, it was fast tracked as a Wii U sequel, and then we saw how bad the hardware sales were so we sealed it in a vault for a few years.

I'm not sure why any rational mind thought an uannounced game in 2015 would be for anything other than the next console.

I really hope they go the Pikmin 2 route and remove time limits. I really do not like the feeling of being rushed through those games.

Something is happening.... Something sad.

I think... I think i'm starting to lose faith in Miyamoto...

You might be reading too much GAF.

Nevertheless, I don't know why this thread or anything he said about Pikmin 4 would change any opinions one could have about Miyamoto and his work.

I was beginning to think Miyamoto was just having a senior moment when he first mentioned Pikmin 4 being a thing, so it does still exist.

Is this the I have no faith in Miyamoto or let's shit on him thread?

It seems like people are jumping to conclusions on minimal based information.

The order for our Pikmin amiibos are still processing. They will have full AI just like the Pikmin in the game, but in real life. Each Pikmin Amiibo will be $35 and stands a a centimeter. Please understand.

Or they could make games for the ground up for the NX and not artificially kill their own console even further?

Might not make year 1 of NX then. I was hoping it would. I assumed it would when he said it was a pretty much done.

Sounds like this happened for more than one Wii U title. Luigi's Mansion 3 and Retro studios project could fit that bill as well.

I don't think it's anywhere close to finished. He probably meant the gameplay system is done and it's in a playable state from start to finished but still needs a massive amount of polishing.

Or we could have baseless conspiracies about "troubled development" but whatever.

Secret best Nintendo franchise. I have no problem with them saving it for NX to give the series the chance it deserves. I just hope it wasn't clearly developed for Wii U and then held over for the next hardware.

As for controls, nothing beats IR pointer on a full HD screen. Great for the beautiful environments and handling lots of tiny creatures. I'm fine with regular dual analog though if they go with a more conventional control scheme this time.

I'd also prefer they bring back some more of the combat and challenge from Pikmin 2.

Pretty sure Pikmin 4 will come after two years of NX release

It's a great series , have all the games since Cube era , but it's no a killer IP that can change something.

Nintendo at this moment needs the big guys and Zelda is the best example , NX needs to succeed and other games like Pikmin will need to wait.

Translation: ''It's for the NX so we kinda can't talk about it''

Translation: "We have an internal list of games and their order of priority. Now that the teams on Star Fox and some key NX launch titles are freeing up, hopefully it'll be easier to shift resources back to Pikmin. Launch title unconfirmed."

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
Miyamoto is always incredibly vague when he talks about projects that are not officially announced, I wouldn't read too much into this latest statement. It seems like they are having to spin a lot of plates at the moment but hopefully Pikmin 4 is one of them and will be ready sooner rather than later. Hopefully before the end of 2017.

I lost faith in Miyamoto a long time ago. It's been obvious for years that he completely lost it and has no business making games anymore.
