3D Mark releases new DX 12 benchmark - TimeSpy

Yep, Mercury's Fermi Paradox is FAR more impressive, AND is 64KB...

They've really lost contact with the scene...

Benchmark software and the demo scene have very different goals. Benchmarks are designed to saturate feature sets. The demo scene revolves around developing efficient algorithms, that happen to be pretty.

Skull Canyon + 1070 External (Razer Core) = 5044

CPU = 4140 (no OC)
GPU = 5247 (OC 2088 Core Clock and 4533 memory)

Considering the Thunderbolt 3 is supposed to take off about 10% I think its a good result.

That's true, but the 3DMarks up to 2001 had really quite scene like demos included. Hell, I can't remember how many times I used to watch them. 2003's was less interesting, and since 2005 the demos have been pretty perfunctory graphics demonstrations; not an awful lot of stylistic flair or artistic direction to them. IMO, that's a shame.

A couple of general bench mark questions:

For comparison to other systems, does 3dmark disable driver settings (like anti aliasing)?

When people post their results, shouldn't the display resolution the tests were run at be shared? Or is there something about the way the tests are done that negate the need?

If you don't mind me asking, how much was your NUC and external setup all told?

I have a 290X / i5 4690k

Default clocks:

Score: 3746
-GPU: 3879
-CPU: 3139

290X OC to 1.1GHz:

Score: 3986
-GPU: 4188
-CPU: 3134

Surprising jump for the OC I think? My CPU score seems a bit low, maybe I should OC that.

Got 5476 off of a 980ti with a slight OC and an I7 4790k running stock. Was wondering if that was good or not, but it seems to be in line with what similar specs are getting.

I bumped up my CPU to 4.3 and pulled 10,134 but I keep breaking 3DMark upon completion and it reports invalid score. Guess I'll roll back to 4.0.

Graphics score: 5945 GTX 1070 MSI G1 Gaming

CPU score: 3784 AMD fx-8350 OCd 4.7 ghz

Combined score: 5475

That's good right? Holding out till the next wave of CPUs from both before I upgrade. Figure it will last till early next year. I do get a score of 11 of the steam VR test

What was the situation with Sky Diver a few years back?
I don't recall ever having to pay extra for the Sky Diver stress testing. I believe it was a totally free addition. But I bought the upgrade for Time Spy anyway.
Now I also can't wait for GFXBench to add their own DX12 and Vulkan tests.

So anyone here running into problems with SystemInfo occasionally failing to run and rendering the test invalid? Or time measurement inconsistencies? Seems like I'm running into it on both my laptop and my desktop.

970@ 1507mhz

Only SLI is working for me. Disabled it and second GPU is not used. I thought they support native DX12 mGPU features?

Is the "demo" version updated as well? IIRC, it is just the full version with features locked-out that open up when you purchase it.

Sure is.

OK so I re ran the test, I had those pesky rundll processes hogging cpu time so I killed them and gave it another go.

Score 6155
Gpu score: 6221
Cpu score: 5810

Much better. I'm at a loss why those pesky processes keep on starting up.
