I just saw the DRK Yokai Greatsword... fuck guess I'm going to be fate grinding cause that's a good looking glam .
Reminds me of one of Aurons weapons in FFX. Lukcily most of the other weapons look ugly(BLM's & MCH's look passable I guess. Ok maybe I'm a bit biased).

I'm still mad about that ridiculously ugly SMN book but the DRK weapon looks amazing so it evens out. Looks like a serious crossover, I'm excited.

I really want SE to reorganise the order you learn abilities (as well as the usual buffs, fixing Noct sect, etc) because the lack of an AOE damage spell before 50 makes level synced roulettes a drag. Maybe that'll be something they get around to doing eventually.

Got the game + heavensward yesterday. New player guide is pretty damn good.

Is there anything from heavensward you can experience as a new player? Or is it all post-ARR content?

I don't think so. Everything in Heavensward is tied into the main story as far as access goes.

Considering how the race was 100% shoe-horned in and the official explanation for them was, "They came over with Yugiri, you just didn't see them," they aren't spoilers nor are they going to be important to the storyline any time soon. The only time I can really remember them coming up at all is during the Dark Knight stuff, and even that apparently took place years ago. Raen stuff is touched on with the Ninja quests but it's nothing we weren't already explicitly told when their naming conventions were released.

Don't get me wrong, I think the design is pretty aight but they really flubbed up the introduction of a new race.

Yes, I'm a little bit salty. :<

I'm trying to buy FFXIV for a friend through steam but it's still pending after I "buy" it. I cancelled the transaction in my account details through steam today after it still didn't go through overnight and used a different payment method (still trying to gift through steam) and it's pending too now. I have not been emailed or charged at all for anything either. Does anyone else know what could be happening? I suspect it's on SE's end after googling the issue and only getting a few cases with the same issue, all tied to FFXIV and SE

If they finish floor 50 they have to start back at floor 1, where it's much harder to get upgrades. They're vote abandoning so they can try 40-50 again without doing 1-40 again. It's smart, it's just a really dick move when not everyone's on the same page.

I think I'd rather just actually go back and try and beat Nidhogg EX (stopped caring after I kept getting burned by static groups) than to keep doing PoTD.

Lost a few runs to negligence. People can't stop walking into traps highlighted by Sight. Excuse is always the same - "didn't see", but really you just didn't look.
That kinda thing makes me disappointed in people a lot more than somebody messing up actually difficult content.

I finished PoTD tonight finally and we got really lucky with drops and had manticores to use just to rush through the last 3 floors. :lol

And then a succubus to use on the boss

PoD really does feel better if you run it with less then 4 people and/or no healer. I'm running it duo with a friend with him on Smn and me War and on floor 40 atm. It's slow as fuck, but I like how you need to be careful about how much you pull. We also had to activate extreme kiting maneuvers a few times due to traps.

It's a lot more fun with less people, yeah. Shame about the time limit enforced tho. I can survive anything on my Tank/Healer, but I can't kill fast enough for the later floors even with a powered up weapon.

Yeah i was rolling through the heavenswards quest before stopping because my lvel wasn't high enough.

Go solo. People have done it on SMN, AST, and NIN for floor 50 (probably others by now too). It sounds like doing D3 rifts, where you are going to need some pylons, luck, and skill for those top times.

I really want to get floor 100+ since those are supposed to be 4man challenge, so hopefully people that only want to grind gear will not care by then.
Also I want to see how far people can go when trying 200 (If its like D3 rifts then it will likely be near impossible to solo to 200. Would need that perfect storm of skill/experiance/mob luck/item luck. Basically power conduit fishing lol).

While PoTD can be a bore, there are ways to make it fun if you are into solo dungeon crawlers. I just hope they can somehow have gear like D3 with BS crazy augments even if only in PoTD. I'd never leave cause I love breaking shit like in D3

Was there like a graphical update in the past few months or so? Some of these screenshots look better than I remember the game to look.
Probably gonna see what's up during the free login campaign, since I didn't even finish the story in Heavensward yet. Was a bit burned out after going through the core game.

To be honest I'm kinda burnt out of PotD after just one run. I have no motivation to go back in there a second time.

Floors 1-40 were such zzzz. Started getting more fun once I hit level 60 but even then. 90% of my experience was just wanting access to all my skills.

That sounds like a great way to miss a whole lot of silver chests and lose time in the long run because you can't possibly kill as much alone in the alotted time.
Plus, you know, it's an MMORPG. We may complain, but boiling it all down to "just discard the people" is a terrible, terrible thing.

Well i mean if you want a good challenge.
If you are still leveling up your PoTD gear then do 4man.

Don't think 4man will get difficult till later levels.
