The gameplay is there but the visual spectacle is not. No patches or DLC that the PS4 got either. It's a pretty bad version.

The first game was originally a Vita title that was recently remastered for PS4. The second game was built from the ground up for PS4. To my knowledge there is no demo yet (at least in NA).

It's so much better than any Infamous game, easily the best traversal mechanics ever implemented into an open world game. The sequel is out on December 1st but the original game got remastered on PS4 earlier this year. It was originally a Vita game that pretty much everyone loved.
The first game has its quirks but it's an amazing overall experience, the sequel looks near perfect.

Has some of the best gunplay and most refined mechanics from the last 15 years of gaming. Plus has a bigger gameplay:cutscene ratio than any of the previous Uncharted games.

This seems kind of like a character action game, how good is the combat?
A lot of people seem to think the game is pretty bad which has so far put me off
It's not that bad - shallow, but fairly solid; with bosses that are decent more often than not. The game itself is okay as long as you temper your expectations and accept it for what it is; being on sale for less than $5 most of the time helps as well.
