There was a picture of a permanent ban the other day here..

These go out in waves. Hopefully all these cheaters will soon be banned.

That was fake, sorry.

Speaking of gyms you guys talk about what is legit or what isn't but how do we know for sure?

Maybe they are just hardcore gamers who have no life or spent a lot of money buying lots of lucky eggs...

I saw this secluded gym at my side of the woods and although I like to think they just did it because they are hardcore but then..... could they really have hacked this stuff? They are all in the same gym and I just thought no one is going to take it down for a long while..

I guarantee you those are all bot accounts. The only remotely possible exception is the lv.33 account, but even that's unlikely.

Funny how they are so fast to ban these apps but not a single cheater has been permanent banned yet.

There is not a single legit gym here in São Paulo. The game is out for 4 days and there are a bunch of 1k-2k Snorlax/Dragonite/Lapras from level 25+ players.

People upset about Pokeadvisor, check out the app GoIV. Uses screen capture to retrieve the IV information. Not as good as Pokeadvisor but it works a lot faster than typing everything in on PokeAssistant.

Got out for first time since my birthday last week. And ugh. ;_; Hopsital next to where I live has had all its PokeStops removed.

Edit: Yet they won't move the gym from the asshole neighborhood by the park. Cmon guys, move that thing to the park.

I turned on my game earlier tonight and saw a Dragonite silhouette for the first time. I ran out of my building so fast and spent 10 minutes trying to track him down by constantly restarting the game to refresh the nearby list. I finally found him by a soccer field and went to work. I berried him up and gave him an Ultra and he jumped out instantly like, "nope, lol". I tired it again with a great curveball and got him. 1838 CP w/ steel wing and dragon pulse. So he should be a good gym defender. It was also badass seeing the silhouette's of the legendary birds and Mewtwo when he was added to my Pokedex.

that's interesting, does it also determine a Pokémon's exact level from the arc?

Awesome lol

man Dragonites are strong but they get kind of wrecked by ice Pokémon :D

love when I see a Dragonite in a nearby gym, means I can get some nice xp by taking it down with much lower CP ice-types

It'd need to know your trainer level to do that, wouldn't it? Seriously, I wouldn't even use scripts and services to scrape IV from the server if the calculators could do it without resulting in 10 possible results.

Caught a shit load of Pokémon today in order to check with Pokeadvisor and transfer those who weren't good. I hate this, it was a great and accurate way to check stuff, IV calculators are not a 100% accurate, and they take way more time.

Which would you keep?

Arcanine with fire fang and bulldoze

or

Arcanine with bite and fire blast

I've given up trying to get fire fang and fire blast on the same mon.

I will think about some good solutions, but I need a good nights rest. It's been a crazy two weeks developing this little site.
Just FYI, the code still works. The issue is with cloud hosting. All major cloud hosts that I know of are banned from hitting their servers.

From the maker of PokeAdvisor.

From the maker of PokeAdvisor.

So maybe the change wasn't intended to break PokeAdvisor but just a general change they did.

Will wait and see if the site gets fixed, if Niantic makes changes to break it again then fuck them. They should be working with the community, not pissing them off.

That's insane, especially considering there are so very few counters to Snorlax (Machamp, and ???). As to if they are cheating...well, it starts taking millions of XP to level up in the mid 30's as I understand it. My inclination is some of those guys, if not all of them, cheat. I don't know, maybe if you live in New York City, London, or Hong Kong and have done basically nothing but Pokemon Go AND you spend money on lucky eggs and incubators, maybe you can get that high.

More likely they cheat though.

Yeah it does. You type your trainer level into the app before you start it. Just checked it out and it seems to work pretty well (compared to the other OCR IV app I tried at least). Good alternative if you don't want to risk your account.

Niantic IP banned AWS IPs to block scanners. It sounds like they expanded the IP ban to hit other VPS providers and pokeadvisor got hit. This seems like a cat and mouse game they can't win.

They already banned a bunch of cloud hosts intending to knock out scanners. They probably initiated another wave of bans with the intention of taking out things like Pokeadvisor. If not that, pre-emptively making sure cloud-hosted scanners will continue to be blocked.

Nice. Will give it a go. I hope it'll allow analysing live from the camera instead of having to take screenshots, if it doesn't already do that.

An Arcanine with Bulldoze is rubbish unfortunately. I'd take one with Bite and Fire Blast with 0% perfection of one with Fire Fang and Bulldoze at 99%.

Yeah what I meant was that they want to get rid of scanners, which I can understand why, even if I'd like to use them.

We'll see if they actively go after Pokeadvisor specifically later on, because checking IVs is really just a convenience thing, and blocking that would be a dick move.

Yeah I evolved my Growlithe and got bulldoze :( Thankfully it wasn't great IVs but getting 50 candy to try again is a pain.

I'm really hoping my 96% Magikarp turns out well, because 400 Magikarp candies will be depressing to waste.

Yeah it reads straight from the screen. It's actually a really slick implementation. On the pokemon detail screen there is an overlay button that matches the style of PoGo. You hit it and it does OCR on the screen and lets you verify the numbers then you calculate. Probably the best implementation I've seen so far (including actual MITM/logins) since you can view the possible IV range then transfer right from the same screen.

Still need to find a Growlithe :'|

It feels weird when it seems like the area I live in is saturated with them.

To the Niantic servers, there's no difference between a scanner and a IV checker logging in. But there's no legitimate reason for a cloud host to access their services, so the easiest option for them is to ban logins from those IPs.

so many arcanines lol

of that entire list I think I have seen beedrill twice in the wild. maybe 3 times.

and this is over like 100+ hours of walking around with a chunk of that being someone in my group using something like pokevision o_O

Geez and 2 Golem's too, I'm only at 30-something Geodude candy since release, and that's with hatching one.

Ones I'm still yet to evolve: Venusaur (caught a wild one, but not the best IVs), Charizard (only on 11 Charmander candy lol), Blastoise (nearly there), Raichu, Nidoqueen, Nidoking, Clefable, Ninetails, Wigglytuff, Vileplume, Dugtrio (nearly there), Machamp (11 candy since release), Victreebel, Golem, Rapidash, Muk, Gengar, Hypno, Marowak, Rhydon, Gyarados (nearly there), Omastar (have 1 Omanyte), Kabutops (have 0 Kabuto).

So now they really blocked IV calculators? This company man...
Can't fix their shit in the first place but waste resources on shutting down harmless calculators of all things.

https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongod...ossoms_pokemon_go_manager_xpost_rpokemongoiv/
Still seems to work though, fortunately =)

I'd be really careful about using stuff like that. At least with pokeadvisor you had numbers on your side. Would be crazy for them to ban 500k people for checking IVs.

With this app you're on your own. It doesn't even look like they updated to the newer pgoapi that generates a signature (even though Niantic isn't validating non-map calls they could still be seeing if it's being sent with requests). It'll be really easy for Niantic to see that this manager isn't a legitimate client and if they just flag all those people and ban them in a wave you're screwed.

The fact this manager can perform automated actions much faster than a regular user is a red flag as well.

Well the only way to stop people from running things on their own computers is to either detect if a login isn't from a legitimate client and reject the request or ban accounts who do use them.

The former is a cat and mouse game, the latter is gonna make a large number of the player base mad.

I could see them out right banning bots and GPS spoofing.

but if they go after people who have run some sort of personal pokevision it's not gonna end well as most people I know who are doing that are only doing it until there is a working nearby tracker.

same with an IV calculator, it's just because there isn't a good way to find it in game.

if there was even something like a potential with a terrible, bad, average, good, great Excellent gauge in game I am willing to bet a lot of people who deal with IVs wouldn't bother using something else.

Problem with the IVs is that it's obfuscated by design, as it is in the main games. The difference is that in the main games, they're values that go into making each and every Pokémon unique, and you can happily play without ever caring about them. Mostly only the competitive battling scene care about them.

In this game, however, IVs are the only thing that differentiates Pokémon and there's almost nothing else in the game for long-term players that maintaining a team with good IVs is the few remaining incentives to continue playing.

Ask yourself, what has Niantic actually done to help make the game better for long term players? Them going after botters because of gyms is so that new players aren't put off by that op dragonite sitting in the gym. Long term players likely have good enough legitimate pokemon to take the gym over. If anything Niantic has shown they don't care about the hardcore and want to milk them for all they're worth. Shitty scaling meant that catching crappy pokemon becomes harder at higher levels. So what do they do? Make pokemon even harder to catch by making them attack and jump more often. Oh lets not forget the "bug" which has pokemon break out of the balls easier as well. So now its even more frustrating for high level players. Oh you want to catch something besides those thousands of pidgeys and rattatas? Welp sorry the tracker is broken and don't you even try to use scanner to find something new and exciting to catch. Oh you want to get serious about your pokemon and check their ivs? Nah we can't have that either sorry. Good luck wondering which pokemon are actually good and which are trash.

I'd never bother with IVs in the normal games, since it's hard to level stuff in Go though having some sort of indicator in game telling you if you have a good one or not would be great, and far more n00b friendly then needing an IV calculator.

Pretty much sums up my feelings. I was so geeked about this game right up until that stupid patch and the nerfing of the trackers. Now I'm playing out of obligation to the money I've spent on incubators, and somewhat because it's still fun to play at the Santa Monica Pier. Definitely not obsessed anymore, and I won't let any company milk me of my money and time by mismanaging the game for players like us.

Basically the only thing is do anymore is sit at a triple pokestop location so i don't run out of pokeballs because theres no way I'm spending a single cent on this game in its current state.

Pokemon go! Go and catch wild pokemon in your neighborhood and explore the area around you!

More like sit at stops and farm the same junk over and over. I honestly miss the days of broken servers because when they were up at least it was fun going out and finding new stuff.

I'm not using the automated features but if they really feel like banning me for using a simple manager tool, so be it. I won't get overly angry, I'll just try to get back the few bucks I spent on IAPs and be done with the game (until maybe they do a major update that fixes tracking, introduces trading and new pokemon, improves gym fights, makes the pokemon menu more useful etc).
I enjoy the meta aspect and comparing pokemon stats with friends and people I get to meet at gyms/stops and the mapper utilities make the game vastly more enjoyable as well (obv the mapper runs on a secondary account). So without that, I'd have dropped the game a while ago anyway - especially since I live in a rural area.

Going from my experiences here, most of you are just collecting Pokemon and not doing the other stuff right? So why do IVs matter?

Nope, worked for me. Apparently it only works 100% the first time you do each one. And I cannot confirm if they 'fixed' it last patch either, I haven't tried one since then.
