I like this idea...but it would need a lot of balancing to not make the game too easy. If I pooled together all of my "water type" candies, I'd probably have well in excess of 500.

Scyther seems to be a rare one for me - I've only caught one so far. Pinsir, on the other hand...

The candy by type wouldn't make it too easy. Some areas don't see certain types at all. Like I don't see Fire types in my area hardly at all. And I have yet to see a fighting type Pokemon in my area. It would be just like the Pokemon themselves.

And I think I'd welcome it being a little easier. As it is now, I feel that it can be too hard to do somethings, and lately it's really getting too boring. There's only a couple of more weeks before the deluge of fall/holiday games for 3DS and consoles starts rolling out.

Niantic is going to start hemorrhaging players big time if they don't make the game a little more exciting and tone down the pidgeys and rattatas and let players see more different Pokemon.

I finally hatched a Pinsir!

I regret I didn't find the Growlithe again though, it was so nearby. Got an extra Squirtle and Charmander, who are ready to evolve though.

candy by species is also going to become a LOT more cumbersome as the Pokédex increases in size. I definitely think by type is a good idea, they could re-balance it by making you need more candies to evolve / power-up anything.

Geez all of my highest CP pokemon have the worst movesets ever. It's completely useless to try to defeat gyms. The reason is because I evolved them when I didn't had an idea that IV's existed so I simply choose a random pokemon to evolve and now I'm suffering the consequences. Sigh.

10k eggs are the absolute worst anyway. Especially if you are in an area where Eevee are in the top 10 of most common. I only want 5k eggs anymore.

Ughh then I'm screwed. Eeeves are pretty common around here :( All that walking for an Eevee! Come on Niantic, don't do that.

IVs and movesets are not correlated.

I think on paper the candy system seemed really great. It's a relatively simple mechanic to understand and can easily be comprehended by anyone.

Personally speaking I'd love to see it completely overhauled. I definitely like that idea with candies given by element and then rebalancing for evolution. I still think that some evolutions are totally insane like needing 100 to get a shitty nidoking or something and then others, especially for rarer Pokemon like Meowth and especially Pikachu are lowered so I don't have to hunt down a ton to evolve.

I'd honestly love the mechanic to revolve around CP levels just like the game's revolves around the Pokemon's levels. So for instance, you get a Meowth. You have say 50 "Normal" candies and it's CP is..lets say 100. You power up that Meowth and each time it rises until it gets to CP 280 (This is just a joke because Meowth evolves into Persian at lv 28 lol ). At that point Meowth would evolve. However, in the wild you could find Meowth with CP 300 and then it'd need one candy to evolve. Similarly you could still find say a CP 100 Persian in the wild, but it'd be rare. This way the game parallels the main series a little more closer.

And speaking of other parallels, I'd kind of like to see the implementation of Evolution Stones. You get a rare chance of getting them from PokeStops, but then you're guaranteed to evolve say your Eevee's into the correct one, and then you could even use them on your Pokemon that also use them without the need of candies.

So a Ninetales showed up on the Liverpool waterfront yesterday, only problem was it was on the Mersey Ferry jetty which was closed off. It was just out of range for most people but a few managed to snag it.

I don't really bother with IV and moves, my pokemon in gyms are always kicked out of it before I reached the next gym. Maybe I'll start using my stardust after lv30, or wait for gem3 to train 6 Slakings.

You're right! Then I guess I simply choose the pokes with the lowest IVs to evolve. My highest CP is a 1376 Arcanine and is at 60% IV :( Currently trying to sustitute him. Good thing Growlithes are pretty common around here.

Goddamnit, I finally hatched enough poliwags to evolve a poliwrath with good IVs and it's stuck with submission as its special move. Fml

At least u got Bubble right? Spend 125 candies on one Poliwag and ended up with stupid Mud Shot. 😫

This super useful, thanks! Also, I like how the different attitudes of each team leader shows in this. Mystic and Valor being painfully honest when your Pokemon sucks but Instinct is all like: "Nah man your pokemon is ok you're da best!"

Team Instinct is weak and unable to face reality. "Your Pokemon has room for improvement" when it has no IVs. You can't improve IVs, Spark. You know that. Why create false hope?

I'm probably gonna pop my third lucky egg today. Just to get a few new registrations. My Ponyta, Ekans, Squirtle and Charmander are ready to evolve.

Hello Porygon. Nice to meet you. We've been waiting for you.

The bling:

I had zero egg luck through the very end. Every rare spawn had to be caught in the wild. The only one I would consider "lucky" of all my catches was Lapras, which was found at a lure. Even then, I was at the location because I knew Lapras spawned there and it was my second day there.

Now to never leave the house again.

Holy cow, battling in this game sucks and it's glitchy beyond words. I was fighting on a gym and the actual floor were the pokemon stand suddenly dissapeared and they looked like if they were fighting in the air ala Dragon Ball Z lmao!

Truee hahah. That type of positivism doesn't help in this game, Spark! Should I transfer this damn pidgey or not!? Geez. Lol.

This some random app you're using or what? I haven't been able to make any sort of actual "hunt" with the in game one since it shows no sort of clue as to where or how far the pokemon are.

It's a website run by gaffer jellies_two. I don't depend on it because it doesn't always show everything that's there, but when it does show up on the website it is definitely there.

Starting to hit my limit on this game.

Level 23 bordering on 24, 130 in Pokedex. Just added Gyarados, Wartortle, Dragonair, and Raichu in but I don't have any more motivation to get the next 12. Catching random mons also doesn't do it for me anymore.

I've not spent a dime on this game although I spent so much more on gas lol.

Re: candies, I was thinking some kind of candy exchange where you trade in candy types you have tons of for a lesser quantity of ones you don't. Probably makes balancing a lot more complex, though.

I have over 40 Pidgeys+Rattatas to evolve and I'm running out of Pokeballs. I'm starting to get antsy. I want to evolve them now, but I'm so close to having 60.

Is size & weight irrelephant to the IV stats?

As far as I'm aware, size and weight don't do anything. Except maybe make you chuckle when you actually think about the numbers.

I live in the capital and I find it incredibly hard to catch them all. I only got a new one today because it came out of an egg.

Although I know there's a Growlithe and Magmar somewhere nearby.

I'm basically just filling in the pokedex, but I'm still not sure whether to evolve my Bulbasaur with better moves or the one with better IVs.

Started using that one website... and it's breathed new life into the game for me.

I was in bed and my friend opened the website and exclaimed, there's a Growlithe nearby. Opene up Google Maps, jumped in the car, and drove over to where it was.

We both caught it.

Flashback to last weekend when a Snorlax showed up in the Sightings section of PoGo. We got in the car to go look for it and after a few minutes we were yelling at each other because he said I was going too fast and I said that he didn't have any idea where to go.

Moves change on evolve. IV's every time.

Also i have never even seen a dratini, let alone a dragonite to capture where i live. The only ones i see are sat at the top of Gyms.

Had a dream that I had 3 10k eggs ready to be hatched! Sadly, just a dream.. Though, I did pick up a 10k egg while doing errands today, so success!

Good day for me so far. Found a 1200ish Pinsar in front of my house this morning. Already had one, but gives me a new higher CP version. Found a Bulbasour, Squirtle, 2 Bellsprouts, 2 Oddishes and a Gastly while out too. Just need 1 more Gastly!

Also, found 3 Dratinis yesterday. Just need 5 more to get my Dragonite. Was crazy, found 7 combined in last 2 days.

I have long contested whether the catch rate is actually worse (I only buy into Pokémon jumping / fighting off / fleeing more often)

but just now I had a ~400 CP Eevee escape from roughly 6 Poké Balls, 8 Great Balls, and 3 Ultra Balls, many of them with Razz Berries. I wanted to kick it in its dumb face by the end of it

I ended up leaving the encounter then coming back in, and I caught it with my next Great Ball...
