Remove flagship feature if old.

This is turning into a Super Mario Bummer. No online level sharing and no 3D feature? The "only" appeal is building levels on the go.

Uh.... people are surprised by this? I thought it was a given. Nintendo would have said it in the direct if it would.

This port feels so cynical. It's cashing in on Mario's name to milk more money out of a project that had its sales potential capped by WiiU.

I mean, to kill off the Mario Maker community and limit sharing to your real-life friends... What the hell? I suppose there'll be a school playground somewhere in the world where kids might meet up and share levels, but I think they'd sooner play Pokemon Go on their iPhone.

UGh as expected no yellow box for NA. I bet EU will get the nice matching yellow box and maybe even the artbook the Wii U version had.

This is why sometimes I fear for the NX.

Nintendo makes some interesting choices now and then.
It's a dumb decision, for sure, but I don't think it's indicative of NX. NX will be a fresh start. Right now they're just treading water, getting extra value out of games they've already made while they wait for the new system to arrive.

This game is becoming more and more a quick port to pad out their holiday lineup. I'm now wondering about Woolly World.

Just think, making this version took away from time the development team could've been adding new items to the Wii U version. (I don't think this was ported by an outside group, personally.) We haven't gotten a new level editor feature since March.

A bit ironic how it reads "Super Mario Maker for 3DS Plays Only in 2D". :p

It was a bit expected. I remember some talk about how the 3DS couldn't be able to run it properly (the 4 visual styles at any time with whatever you throw at it and no slowdown, at 60 frames)and it seems they cut corners.

I already figured that this was pushing the n3DS something fierce when they announced that not every level from the Wii U version would be compatible, so 3D wasn't happening. Still, it is really weird how this product is available to exist in the form that it has taken in this transition.

Well that's getting an amiibo

This feels like Part Beta/Part Japanese Streetpass Heaven Edition to me. I cannot see this doing well in NA/EU at all.

I'm confused by what you're saying lol

They were talking up how you could make levels locally. So if they wanted another thing to tell us why it's better or unique on 3DS, I'm sure they would have wanted to mention 3D. Anyway it wasn't something I was counting on anyway.

what a shame, i got a n3ds and now that the 3D feature actually works I have the effect on most of the time when i play ever since i got it. only time its on 2D is on the bus.

Seems like a pretty shoddy port...

Does anyone find it a little bit annoying how nintendo keep putting "For 3DS/WiiU" on the actual title of the game?
It's like they think potential buyers are too stupid to realise what platform it is for even though the logo of the system is already on the box.

I'm clinging to hope that they'll patch in online sharing sometime down the line. If not, this is gonna be such a huge disappointment.

This just in, Super Mario Maker 3DS opts to leave out the ability to play levels. Nintendo decided it wasn't a key aspect of the experience, but don't fret! You can still look at as many custom-created levels as you like in the beautiful slideshow viewer.

A multilayered side scrolling game on the 3DS in 2D? Fucking why? I would look great in 3D, I mean, look at how good Sonic 1-2 looked in 3D.

Considering some people are too stupid to know the difference between the Wii and Wii U...

never expected it. seemed like a simple downport from the beginning.

i guess this means NX will get a sequel proper instead of a port. unless nintendo really wants to cheap out
