No birds?!

Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed.

And to think, didn't they tease the next GT in sizzle reels before the PS4 even launched?

So much for time-to-triangle too.

If you've been looking forward to PS4 exclusive driving games this generation you've had to wait, and wait, and wait some more.

I haven't seen anyone talking about this. Anyone here on GAF pre-ordered and gotten refunded?
I got an email from Amazon about the release date changing and letting me know I could cancel if I wished, which was a bit strange as it's the first time I've seen that happen and I have plenty of games who have release dates change after pre-ordering. Obviously no refund though.

Unusually, I hadn't actually pre-ordered this yet.

I don't think that refunds are that unusual with delayed first party games though as I got a refund when Uncharted 4 was delayed and that was a really short one.

...and then get dry deepdicked by the new legacy wheel policy, which wouldn't have been in force had a PS4 GT been released within a sensible timeframe.

It's a wonderful situation all round. Bravo, Sony.

I was a real "GT fanboy" before the release of GT5, but I got really disappointed and gave up.

2009: GT5 wasn't coming out so I bought an X360+FM3 bundle. Amazing game.
2010: GT5 finally arrived. I played it a few weeks but it was so boring that I went back to FM3.
2011: FM4 arrived and I liked it so much I couldn't play any other game.
2013: GT6 arrived on PS3 (I was so angry there was no next gen GT). I played it a few weeks then I realised that PD dished out another boring title. I bought a PS4 to play some next gen titles.
2015: No news about a next gen GT, so I decided to buy an XB ONE with FM5. It wasn't what I expected but it kept me busy. Same for FM6 that I'm still playing every day. I'm also thinking about getting Assetto Corsa.

Now I'm not "waiting" for GT Sport, I got better games to play. This situation just makes me laugh as the story repeats itself.

I'm not the only one moving to other series and even to other platforms.

Were/are all these delays by PD justified? I don't think so. In my opinion GT isn't on par with the competition, even with all their game updates.
Invisible walls in rally stages (and plastic walls like concrete), boring gameplay, static cockpit view, bad sounds (yes, still), complicated multiplayer, no storefront for setups and liveries (who knows for GT Sport...), no clutch for controller users. And the graphics? From all the gameplay videos I saw it still looks like a PS3 game.
Yes, photomode can look realistic and orgasmic.....but photomode =/= gameplay. I was expecting someting like Driveclub.

It´s almost hard to watch PD struggle. The transition to HD broke them and I don´t think they´ll ever really come back.

GT 3 A-Spec remains my favorite racing game of all time.

I dunno if they are suffering lol...the "struggle" is certainly a term outside media and fans just use for their gripes with the series, it's likely a very sustained studio.

But yeah, I'm rooting for them too to knock one out the park.

Japanese devs in general seem to behind western

I hope they don't refund me because I preordered it when it was 60CDN instead of 80CDN on the Canadian PSN Store...

Don't worry, the whole world will be using renminbi by the time GTS comes out, and I for one welcome our new Chinese overlords.

Well, GT5 was GT all through, so the fact that you thought it "boring" does not make it boring... It sold crazy levels, much more than any FM and thus public has voted what game they like better.

It doesn't matter how much it sold. It sold because of the REPUTATION Gran Turismo had worldwide BEFORE the release of GT5. Then people played it and realised what it really was. Even GTPlanet members and some moderators confessed they were disappointed (same for GT6). Standard cars, black shadow in cockpit view, dozens of duplicates of the same cars, fake cosmetic damage (not like it was shown in the infamous trailers)......and everything I wrote in my previous comment.
Everybody knows it.

GT5 http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/gran-turismo-5

FM3 http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/forza-motorsport-3
Metascore 92 - User score 8.0

GT6 http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/gran-turismo-6

Don't keep replying turning this into another useless GT vs FM thread. I'm just stating facts and providing real scores. It's all clear and PD is going downhill. GT6 is nothing but a polished GT5......a GT5.5.
The so-called next gen GT looks like an old gen GT. Even with the "latest" build, that showed something very very similar to the OLD GT5 and GT6 rally stages.
Everything looks the same, even the unbreakable barriers. You check the comments on GTPlanet...people are laughing about the video of the latest build. Do you get it or don't you get it.
We are in 2016, almost 2017, and PD is still stuck in the past. Kaz has a vision...he keeps talking about that vision. It's all old, old school.

Can you please post the facts then? The only thing I've seen are reviews and user scores.

Aren't reviews and user scores the PROOF something else is doing better and delivering what was promised?
I'm talking to you as an ex Gran Turismo fan (until november 2009). GT is losing even at home (GTPlanet). There are meme threads to make fun of the disappointment the GT series has become.
There's even a threads with the title "Is Gran Turismo Sport still the racing game it once was?". Fans are asking themselves wtf is going on, they see there's something wrong with PD.
It's all around you, and you don't see it.

Proof is that Forza hasn't got any better than Forza 4 and has released 2 sequels since than.
It really doesn't seem like your posting facts but just trying to start a forza vs gt fight.

Delays suck but in the end it won't matter if they game is great.

It's not GT vs Forza....but what else do you want to talk about since THERE IS NO GRAN TURISMO TITLE FOR THE CURRENT GEN?
I can even talk about AC or PCars if you want!! Forza or not, Assetto Corsa or not, Project Cars or not, these are the titles we can play.

Where is GT? It.is.always.the.same.story. Everybody knew it would get delayed.

Damn these threads have been pretty shit as someone buying his first gt hope the damn It can be a helpful good time

I recommend going back and playing 4 and or 6 at least. Heck, I've been playing GT1 for kicks lately. Unfortunately I've had to do it using an emulator because I can't find the power cord to my PS1.

Does it play vastly different from driveclub? I'm pretty good at that. Or are you recommending I go back to get a feel of how gt plays

If you can play DC on hardcore, you will do fine in GT with traction control and ABS on a low degree ...and very eventually stability management if the controller sensitivity isn't to your liking.

But why did they cancel the stupid pre-orders??!? They kept my pre-order for Driveclub up for almost 1 1/2 years and I don't remember it being delayed in short succession again and again. Will it be December 2017 or what is this?

again it doesn't matter if it's delayed when it comes out as long as it's a great game. That's the ultimate determination.
I would agree, but I've been disappointed by their last couple of games despite buying a PS3 specifically for them, so I'm holding back my excitement for GTS until I've played it. I'll buy it, but I'm not expecting to be blown away.

GT 3 A-Spec remains my favorite racing game of all time.

Amen that, brother. I don't care for the real-life tracks, dashboards and stuff. I wish we could get a PS4 version of GT3. I miss tracks like Seattle, Tahiti, Smokey Mountain and Citta d'Aria and Amalfi Coast from GT4. And GT3's Arcade mode.

Do we have any idea how many cars/tracks will be in the game? I am under the impression that someone said that this title will be focused on the multiplayer, no "carrer" and stuff, bit that could be my mind just playing me.

January 17 seems really soon, especially since they didn't even give a rough window for the delay.

If true, I guess maybe they'll reveal dates for that and Horizon at PSX?

Another update from Paris Motor Show FIA Booth.

Hold tight...Gran Turismo Sport direct-feed sound update!

first GTS clip that actually DOES sound better...(unlike the other videos that supposedly had better sound). If it's not just tied to that one car, they've reached Driveclub and the lesser Forza cars sound levels now.

While they're at it, why not step it up another notch and give the world's biggest racing franchise a sound that WOWs its fans like its fotomode graphics.

Gran Turismo games as PS2 classics NEEDS to happen. I would love to be able to play GT4 again.

Relicensing cars and tracks would be an issue.

MS doesn't have any forza games backwards compatible besides Horizon 1, which is being delisted due to licensing. I imagine it's the same issues for Sony to put up older GT games..
