For what it's worth; I have the OLD camera and have never had a tracking issue. It all works perfectly.

I have the OLD camera and have had similar tracking issues to giant bomb in regards to the controller tracking (moving backwards and forwards of its own accord despite it being held still).

Only time I noticed headset swimming issues was on the grabber machine on Playroom VR (I think I only noticed because it was so close and supposed to be static).

I solved most tracking issues by placing my camera a foot or so closer to my seated position (had to put it below the tv now)...useless for Job simulator sadly, due to them forcing you to stand in a specific spot (thankfully I didn't purchase it).

Noticed a lot of weird drift in Super Stardust in the VR mode that I've not had in any other game...my seated position in game actually drifted (so basically it looked like my right arm was lined up with my stomach and my left arm was about a foot further to the left than it should have been. Very odd, I couldn't re-centre either (if anything it made it worse when I tried).

I have the old camera as well, I have still noticed drift to the left whilst playing Driveclub for a while, but all the other games seem to have worked fine all week.

damn.

the tracking is a huge problem, how the fuck did sony think this was good enough to go to market with.

I wish they'll update Journey for PS VR. The sand surfing section and the sequence where you're flying up the mountain at the end would look amazing in VR. Seeing the flying snake coming at you can be pretty scary too I'd imagine.

It's not a problem for everyone.

I've yet to experience the tracking issues I've seen people mention on GAF and other places. I did experience the drifting to the left issue one time after a long play session, but restarting the game fixed it right away.

I mean, it just seems way more widespread than I expected from the preview coverage. And you may not have had tracking issues, but you have had drift issues.

Just makes it hard to buy in - I've been obsessively reading this thread since launch. Yest I walked into a best buy and had a core headset in my hands, ready to go, and couldn't pull the trigger. Just not knowing if it will work perfectly is super frustrating.

Have had my unit for a week now. Not a single tracking issue.

I have my camera mounted on top of the TV, headset and DS4 are tracked perfectly. Only time I had slight issue is during london hiest gameplay when I went out of playing range with my move wand, issue fixed itself immedialy after coming back to range.

Outside of turning around in Job Simulator, no tracking or drift issues at all. That particular game is just asking too much from the technology.

No tracking issues.

M2. Using Philips HUE lights too without any sunlight. Sitting about 3m infront of the TV. I had the camera on top of the TV for a day and that was horrible. Camera just beneath my TV has been flawless. Sitting away about 2,5 - 3m

I haven't had any tracking issues either aside from the occasional drift. But as mentioned, restarting the game fixes this, so it's no big deal.

I haven't had any issues *knocks on wood*! I'm sitting in my room though, and there isn't really anything to obstruct it.

It's a great demo. Super happy go-lucky. Just an all around great time. Give it a shot!

Yep can't recommend it enough, showed my girlfriend it, she was expecting to have to clean it, but she had a great time anyway!

No tracking issues since day one.
Camera at the bottom of the tv (knee height)
I sit about 1.5 to 2 meter away from the device.

Yesterday I adjusted the camera to play Batman.
And when I returned it to it's original position I noticed some irregularities.
Image didn't feel straight (could be the headset wasn't straight on my head) and ad a feeling I had to turn my head to the left a little because it was slightly off-centre.

Restarted the ps4 and used the demodisc to readjust my position and all seems well.
I still feel it's not quite thesame as before the camera repostioning, But that could just be me as well...

Love my headset, but it's a bitch for slight neurotic people like me.

So unless we're missing something this seems Sony may have actually lied about the specs on this, because it's clear there is a dramatic difference between the two. I can't confirm that, because I havent actually seen Sony officially release specs anywhere, just heard through gaf specs are the same. The whole thing seems odd to me, almost as if they realised the old camera wasn't up to speed to track clearly. Probably didn't anticipate the new camera would experience the same issue.

I have the old camera and never had any tracking issues with my headset

Chili Con Carnage!
I definitely won't be looking forward to any PSVR game that wants me to stand up but other than that I'm really pleased with mine, I completed Headmaster yesterday which is a really fun title and I'm still excited to play Thumper every chance I get. I've definitely seen the issues you guys are talking about but other than having to restart everything once or twice I haven't found it that much of a problem.

I think there are a lot of types of games that could be greatly enhanced by the true 3D experience and the 3d sound, but it will take some clever developers to get the best out of it. In a lot of ways it's a shame something like Job Simulator even came out because all that game does is highlight the limits of the tracking.

My immediate worry is the release schedule for more games, I hope we see a lot more titles announced soon.

Same. My camera is even right under the bedroom light.

It's the old camera though, if that matters.

Ugh, this just makes me super jealous.

How far back do y'all play from? My wobble/worbble issue goes away at 3 feet or less. But that means grabbing a chair from my dining room whenever I want to play :-/

Also, no matter where I sit, the controller tracking is terrible in nearly everything (haven't tried move yet). And if the controller is brought past my face, the entire image will momentarily shift around.

Fuck it, I'll ride it out. Maybe Sony releases a camera FW to fix it.

Have a look round some cash converters and the like, they usually have stuff like that on the cheap.
Thanks. Got some overpriced ones from CEX in the end.

Just set up the PSVR, played some Playroom VR. Holy fucking shit, this is the real deal. The headset is incredibly comfortable, I have tried Oculus and Gear VR and the discomfort stopped me wanting to continue on those after a very short period. And damn they have done a fantastic job with the screen and optics.

Colour me impressed so far, and I haven't even tried anything beyond Playroom.

Plinko

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
I have been kind of meh about this experience outside of maybe Thumper so far.

However, then I played games where I use double-Move controllers. Total immersion. I need more.

Joining the club of old camera and no tracking issues and no drift.
I put the camera below the TV, and I'm sitting about 1.5-2m away from it.

Sorry to add to the pile but I've tried two complete setups (different headsets, cameras, and controllers) and haven't had any issues outside if leaving the play area. I sat fairly close on both except for job simulator, which seemed to work fine minus the small play zone

Old Camera and moves on one. All new ones on the other

I sit away 3 meters. I have the new camera. The camera is a shit of piece (technologywise) so it doesn't surprise me that people have problems when they sit away too far. At demo stations the camera was never more than 1,5m away from me.

I had some massive drift problems in Robot Rescue last night. Tried plugging the headset directly into the breakout box and turning off the living room light and went into Rez...worked nearly flawlessly. I'm going to have to try keeping the lights off and use the extension cable again from the couch (about 5~6 feet away from camera) but I'm wondering if the cable itself might be the problem.

I have a long list of posts here now where I have echoed the same experiences. I haven't had really any tracking issues or drifting issues. My only drift comes in Cinema Mode where the screen slowly starts drifting and turning to the left. It happens gradually, so you dont really notice it has happened until you recalibrate or notice you are slightly turning your head. This is a problem I believe nearly every person has had, and since Cinema Mode doesn't use the Camera, this must be a Gyro Issue.

For what its worth, I am too using the Old Camera. I dont necessarily believe it does a better job than the new one, but it has worked near perfectly for me.

Yo now that you mention it you're right.

At Best Buy and GameStop I was always pretty close to the camera.

Well shit.

I think what I may do put the camera at the base of my entertainment cubby so that I can continue to use my gaming chair.

Wanted to chime in on some cool things that I did in Vive that are totally possible in PSVR. I'm looking forward to Sony somehow acquiring these experiences.

For the record, now that I've played games that take FANTASTIC advantage of the VIVE controller, i'm probably going to buy the PS4 PRO (after the enhancements to VR are actually verified). Also, if Sony decided to release an improved VR controller and camera for $200.00, I'd buy it on the spot. VR without MOVE isn't the same at all. The MOVE functionality changes everything.

Listen GAFVR, if you guys get the opportunity to play/watch Accounting by Scanchtendo, it is legitimately mindblowing and awesome. More, I think that it's totally doable on PSVR. it doesn't HAVE to have full room scale.

Also, there's another game called ONWARD which is incredible. Slower paced tactical action is what i'm thinking would excel on the PSVR. Something like Hitman? get into an environment, think things through, spend time assassinating ONE person instead of hordes and waves of enemies. 1 to 1 motion controls with MOVE controllers that work would be...let's just say that I was speechless after playing these experiences.

Used two cameras, two houses, above and below the TV, and hot swapped between three players, standing and sitting. Apart from going out of range (sitting and dropped my hands too low) and losing the ds4, I've had no tracking problems.

Not having any tracking issues. i place my camera on a coffee table about 4ft in front of me rather than putting it under the TV (which is at an angle from my couch).

If you need to get really close then it may be the camera isn't focusing properly, give the lens glass a gentle clean with a micro-fibre cloth, or that your room is too dark

The DS tracking is the poorest of the three, the light needs to be towards the camera and not by your face, its acceptable for what it is

Other than that the rules seem to be:
  1. Camera securely mounted with no movement, ideally at about 4 feet height (say on top of your TV)
  2. setup Approx 6 feet from camera
  3. room with OK light levels (so cameras can focus), but no direct light onto the camera lens
  4. No lights or mirrors in sight of the camera
  5. Each new setup will require re-calibration
  6. If the tracking becomes fubar'd turn off the headset leave for some seconds then turn it back on

The extension cable came in yesterday, and it looks like placing the camera on my desk did the trick: I was able to play Batman with no issues (also worked up a sweat doing the target practice, making sure I was posing like an idiot with every throw), and I didn't have to adjust it when switching to Until Dawn.

The only issue left is the jitter I get from some games: What's the term for it? It's the thing where the virtual controller or HUD that's below you is moving up and down on its own (it plagued Giant Bomb like crazy, but hasn't been quite as extreme for me)? Has there been any working methods to reduce/eliminate it?

Also, is Battlezone generally accepted as the most nausea-inducing VR game? I barely played half an hour and felt like shit for an hour afterwards. The 180 degree turns really did a number on me.

I'm sure someone mentioned that on Redditt (camera extension cable)

Can any of the Move compatible games be played with a single Move controller or a Move + navigation controller combo, or do they all require dual Moves?
