All I want to hear to be there day one is an account system that gives you discounts for upgrading to Switch versions of WiiU/3DS/VC games.
I realise I'm being dumb here, but can somebody please clarify the trigger switches.
Do we know for sure there's an R1 and an R2?
Is the R2 round the back that we can't see?
Also, when taking the joy-cons out to play local multiplayer and you have to hold them horizontally, are we assuming R1 will now be on the 'curve' at the bottom of the controller, with R2 on the top? (the button in the red circle I'm assuming will be R2). It will be weird having a trigger button underneath on the curve.
I realise what I'm saying might not make sense as it's early.
You can see in the images that there is an R1 and R2.
I don't really get what you mean, but if you look at the trailer you can see that the detachable controllers have shoulder buttons that are hidden when not detached. I hope it makes sense as it isn't easy to explain.
Virtual Console sounds reasonable.
Wii U and 3DS tho..
IMO it's the first thing that'll get dropped - barely any third parties will do it, and first parties will try but then slowly stop doing it. It just seems the one gimmick from the reveal to be mostly pointless. If you play with friends regularly, just bring along another controller or let them bring one.

Hmm, no, but there's millions of Wii remotes in the wild.
No, if they weren't swapped that's what would happen. I actually think this is one of the main reason they are swapped. But the analog sticks and buttons are swapped on the joycons. So if the shoulder buttons are always on the 'inside' (flat edge) - one player will be forced to have the analog stick on the left and the other player has the stick on the right.
This. I'm in already, obviously, not this would freshly make it a sweet deal. Transferring ownership from Wii U, too. If they could include disc haha that would be sweet too, but I don't see how they'd do that without involving a Wii U.All I want to hear to be there day one is an account system that gives you discounts for upgrading to Switch versions of WiiU/3DS/VC games.

Ah, you're right. I hope they aren't compromising controller layout for single player for the sake of something I don't think will ever get that much use (shared controllers). But then their pro controller is asymmetrical so maybe they're trying to replicate that, and are limited in horizontal space so can't stagger and it ends up being quite low down.
Wat about digital Wii games? Will I be able to play my wiiu bought metroid prime trilogy on the nx?!
I'd sell my Nintendo stock.I just had a idea last night:
What if the next handheld to replace 3DS Nintendo talked about was a Nintendo Smartphone?
Just think about the possibilities. A Nintendo Phone, with the same tech as NS (just smaller and more elegant) and a custom Android OS on it for around 500-600$ directly compete against Apple and Samsung. Why would people buy a Apple smartphone when they can have a Nintendo Smartphone with all console games on it? I can totally see that in 2018 happening.
A Nintendo Phone which can run every Android game, every Nintendo game and every big AAA game third party developers have on the NS. Like the NS, you can hook it up to your TV and to go you can hook your NS controllers (or smaller versions of them) It would be THE place fo play and replacing regular smartphones as main gaming devices to go.
It would totally make a revolution in mobile gaming. Instead of these half assed mobile games, you get full console experiences on your Nintendo smartphone. It would be exclusive, because it runs only on the custom Android hardware and on the custom Tegra Parker chip.
How does that idea sound to you?
Almost certainly the carts will be read-only.

Looks like the Switch has some new technology:
Haven't see any screen capable of doing that before.

Of course it's obvious, just funny to see they missed something there.
Has anyone noticed this yet? I was wondering where those shoulder buttons on the joy-cons were protruding from and then found it on the sideways image.
I doubt that most people will make use of the portable aspect of the console, just like most people preferred to play Wii U games on their big tv's and not the controller.
Its confirmed that the shoulder buttons aren't scrollable right?
Sorry if this has been touched on already, but just for my own curiosity, has Nintendo themselves mentioned inline multiplayer even once yet? The trailer seemed to show local multiplayer exclusively. I don't think Nintendo would be dumb enough to not in use it, but...it's not the most unbelievable thing in the world.
What's the price point for this thing? Have they revealed it? What is the expectation?
I hope it's cheaper than the PS4.
Unlikely. One of the reasons Wii U had native Wii backwards compatibility was the fact that Wii U processor was built on the same base as the processors for GameCube and Wii, and the console just rebooted into Wii mode. Besides, how would you control it without Wii Remote, Nunchuk and Sensor Bar?
NVIDIA Shield can run Dolphin. There are a fee slowdowns but I'm sure a Nintendo made emulator can run it. Plus the NS is more powerful than Shield. As for controls you can just use a Wii Mote and a old sensor. Nintendo can also repackage a Wii Mote and sensor with 1 VC game in retail.
Is there anyone else who is going to miss the 3D feature of the 3DS
