I better hope it's not plastic. Plastic scratches like hell and seeing this isn't a clamshell design it would get banged up easily. Gorilla glass or bust.
Smash, MK8 and Splatoon aren't like Hearthstone or Clash Royale. Could you imagine Splatoon's eSport potential with a better account system, better online and spectator tools? It could be amazing.
Is there a Nintendo Switch Emulator?
If not, how long until it comes out?
Probaly it will cost about 20 cents to include...but its way more efficient for Nintendo to sell an adapter for 30 $
But it wouldn't be in the dock.^^
That's not really relevant to the Switch though which is what I was specifically discussing. Console launches are typically scheduled to hit the holiday season and Nintendo is straight up sitting this one out and aiming for quieter a portion of the year.
I've worked retail, Gamestop specifically, and post xmas shopping is just as big as pre xmas shopping. It is absolutely a consumer frenzy. If Nintendo can grab people's attention for that part of the year they'll do well, but they do need to jump on it.

How do you people manage with smartphones, laptops and tablets? Do you live in constant fear all the time??
No? I'm not talking about me. Nintendo won't even sell the Gamepad by itself. I have to wonder if they'll even sell the tablet by itself. How do you people manage with smartphones, laptops and tablets? Do you live in constant fear all the time??
That means nothing to me TBH. This system isn't some kiddy and grandpa advertisement like the Wii and Wii U were. After two home consoles without an ethernet port, I think it's safe to say this one won't have one either.
Capacitive screens can be plastic. I'm hoping for glass--and it looked like glass--but I am wary of Nintendo cutting corners.Capacitive screens need glass to work anyways, and there's no way they would still use resistive ones
I disagree. I expect the Switch to have basic online functionality at the very least. Friends lists, party chat etc. Absolutely no reason it wouldn't.
They can? My bad then, but yeah from the video it looked like glassCapacitive screens can be plastic. I'm hoping for glass--and it looked like glass--but I am wary of Nintendo cutting corners.
Wasted space. They never bothered with one. Also, it'd have to be in the console, not the dock. So = no port.
But it wouldn't be in the dock.^^
If they really want to go after the eSports crowd it should support Ethernet. Splatoon and MK8 were both fantastic without it but still. I'd buy an adapter if I need to.
Yes, because why use plastic when you can use a material that gets spiderweb cracks when dropped from any height? Please. I hope they don't use "gorilla" glass. That shit is garbage
I'm expecting Nintendo work with AT&T and other providers for internet on the go.
The modern glass used in tablets isn't remotely as prone to shattering as you imply. But in any case the old saying still applies: 'Don't drop your shit'.
That's way more cumbersome than just sticking in a HDMI cable.
Nintendo, seriously. Get on this.

I know this may sound awful but I think Nintendo should go after dude bro crowd for launch then go and release more Nintendo like games shortly afterwards. Many folks avoid Nintendo as they think it's a kiddy system but looking at the initial trailer it seems Nintendo are going for that young adult market.
Launch should be something like this
Zelda
Elder Scrolls Skyrim
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered
NBA 2K17
FIFA 2017
Codemasters Racing Game
Tekken 7
Super Smash Bros
Yes I know the above looks quite boring and the only games that would appease the NeoGAF crowd are Zelda and maybe Tekken 7. However the above has the genre variety, racing, Fighter, western RPG, FPS and sports. With all the most popular IPs for each genre with the likes of Tekken, COD, FIFA, Elder Scrolls and etc.
That would be the March launch line up
Then April they can release Mario Kart. May they can release Splatoon then the new Mario 3D Platformer down the line etc. No need for Nintendo to spoil their load with their first party games.
Launch lineup looks fine but why do you think the dude bruhs would want to get a Switch? Were they waiting for Nintendo's new hardware or what? They're on PS4 and XBO already.
I still want a streaming dongle. Maybe they can allow chromecast integration. I don't have any place to put the dock with small children.

Tbh I was surprised how open he was being about the whole thing and thought highlighting him on a big channel like GameXplain was a bad idea. I had a feeling Nintendo might get in touch with him sooner or later... I just hope it's nothing too serious.
I can't wait to see the Nerf case for the Switch. The booming phone case market since the majority have become glass begs to differ. They weren't nearly as prevalent before, and then they were mostly for aesthetics not protection
Didn't they attempt that with the Wii U launch??
Wii U Launch, first two months:
Assassins Creed 3
Batman Arkham City
Call Of Duty Black Ops 2
Darksiders 2
FIFA 13
Madden 13
Mass Effect 3
Ninja Gaiden 3 Razors Edge
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Or... Most of those were old as hell by the time the Wii U came out and we'd already bought them elsewhere...They did, the traditional Nintendo fanbase does not by western 3rd parties, thus they bailed. Since the type of people that will buy a new console at launch is the traditional Nintendo fanbase it will run into the exact same problems.

Hmm you are right their but the huge ommission there is FIFA. Also Wii U wasn't anything exciting over PS3 or 360. There was no reason for.someone to buy a Wii U over a 360 or PS3. The hook with the Switch is that games can be played at home and then taken on the go and also allow local multiplayer on portable mode which is great for games like FIFA. Also the marketing and branding on Wii U was a mess and it still had that Wii name which isn't appealing to the dude bro market. The Switch is where Nintendo can start from scratch. Modern Warfare Remastered, Tekken 7, Skyrim, FIFA and etc are extremely popular games in their genres.
Yeah but without the benefit of active cooling and mains power to boost clock speed
Dedicated handheld devices are declining extremely fast in thr USA and Europe. The Switch will live or die as TV bound console.
And I don't really see Nintendo having a chance against Sony in both markets and Microsoft in the American markets.
At the very least I'd expect to see a "dock cable" or minidock, something that would plug in where the dock does and have a built-in HDMI connection or HDMI port on it, without the full tablet-swallowing size.I'm thinking this thing should absolutely come with a video-out on the device itself, without the dock.
Unless it's a warranty thing and you can replace it directly, I doubt they make a big deal of this. Since the tablet is the vast majority of it, worst case is you buy a new set and end up with an extra dock.Dark Cloud said:What happens if you break the tablet? You drop it and he screen smashes. Will they sell standalone tablets? Because the tablet is the console.
Just because something can be made to connect to a USB port doesn't necessarily mean the Nintendo system will know what to do with it.UnemployedVillain said:Why would you buy a Nintendo adapter? There are dozens of usb ethernet adapters
Those ports in some cases were pretty old. If I were Nintendo I'd concentrate on games that would release in the first quarter of 2017. RE VII, Ni-Oh... those games are with publishers Nintendo is friendly with.
