If you could only have one system between PS1, N64 and Saturn...

If I had my time over again I would still pick the Saturn. The only thing I would do differently would be to get into the import scene.

Saturn, assuming I can play imports on it. No hesitation.

N64 is probably my least favorite Nintendo console (I know I know, blasphemy to some but whatever), so that's easily excluded. The PS1 is a classic but for the types of games I really love - 90s era 2D, especially Capcom fighters - the Saturn is the way to go.

It would be a PS1 , no question. However if Saturn were to have translated Japanese library it would have been a tough choice. Unfortunately we didn't get quite a few games.

God I don't know if I could pick. Both N64 and PS1 had some of my favorite games of all time.

You have:

Mario 64
Conker's Bad Fury Day
Monster Truck Madness 64
Destruction Derby 64 (yes I know this was on PS also but loved the N64 version the best)
South Park (same as DD)
Battletanx
Twisted Metal 1,2,3, Small Brawl
AKI wrestling games
AKklaim wrestling games
Jet Moto 1&2
Fur Fighters
Re-volt
Spyro the dragon games
Crash Bandicoot games
Smash Brothers
MTV Snowboarding
Tony Hawk games
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Donkey Kong

I could go on and on listing games Between the two. I just can't pick.

Nintendo 64, not even a contest. Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, F-Zero X and the Zeldas are better than all other games released that generation together for me, so why would I choose anything else.

I think this is a pretty easy PSX choice for me, despite my love of the Saturn. There's just so much depth to that library, lots of mid-tier games I could spend a lot of time with despite them not being A-tier classics. N64 doesn't even come into the picture for me, despite having a decent library itself.

Saturn because I never owned one and there is a lot there to play through... There are a ton of games for the ps1 I haven't played but it would be nice to play something totally brand new to me.

N64. The fact that the Saturn is nearly tied with it is embarrassing.

Yes it is. The Saturn should be light-years ahead.

The N64 is a distant third place. "Embarrassing" is probably the word I'd use to describe the N64's library and controller, certainly compared to the Saturn's.

Would definitely be the PS1 but the Saturn would be second. N64 a distant 3rd. It only had Mario 64, Banjo and Goldeneye I really loved.

I'd not have been able to pass up on such greats such as FFVII (as well as IX), Resident Evil, Rage Racer, Micromachines, MGS, Dino Crisis2 etc. Classics.
Add Resident Evil 2, Ridge Racer 64 and Micro Machines 64 Turbo to your N64 "love games" then ;-)

I had this choice in the 90s and picked PS1. Right choice then, right choice now that I've went back and bought the other systems and played their libraries extensively.

I'd have to say the Playstation, as it was the system I played the least first time around. I adored the Sega Saturn - its lineup is incredible, there will never be a console library like it ever again - but I have completed the very best that the system had to offer. The Nintendo 64 had less titles but of nonetheless magnificent quality - but again, I've played them all.

The Playstation has a ton of games I'd still love to play one day, absolutely loads of JRPGs and others that I've never experienced.

Despite that, the Sega Saturn will always be my true love of that generation. Such a tragedy that so much if its incredible library has never again seen the light of day. Seriously!

N64 all day. It's where many of my favorite games were; Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, Smash Bros., Rare games, etc blah blah. It may not have had a big library, but it had the quality.

PS1 is definitely a close second though. I have no doubt I would have found a lot more games on PS1 if I had more exposure to it.

Based on an English only library i say ps1 followed by n64. But including imports while I would still say ps1 the Saturn is a close second

PS1 without a doubt, the Xmas morning I opened mine up with Tekken 3... Damnnnnnn. I still have some PS1 games in a wallet case including all 3 discs for FF7, not got my console anymore though.

is beloved, despite what anyone might say
PS1 by far, several of my all-time favorites (Star Ocean 2, Valkyrie Profile, Xenogears, Suikoden 2, SOTN) were made for the system. Probably the best RPG library of all time, and has some pretty great non-RPGs as well.

Ps1, it has all the games. Plus all the RPGs I could ever want. Also fft. So that makes it a really easy choice. Saturn second for the fighting games.

I've kind of turned on the PS1. I really liked it back in the day but as far as 100% console exclusive games go the only PS1 exclusive games I like to revisit now are MGS1 and the RE games. I had both a PS1 and N64 back in the day and while a I spent a lot of time with both I was definitely more into the N64 partially thanks in large part to the slew of great games with great split screen multiplayer modes. Weirdly, I would probably go with the Saturn now because I think very arcade-y games tend to be the kinds of games that will always hold up the best and Sega is behind some of the best arcade games ever made and the N64 would be my runner up.

I had/have all three.

I think my answer is N64, maybe. Saturn has one of my favorite games of all time in NiGHTS Into Dreams... though.

It's definitely N64 or Saturn in any case. There are games that I like on PS1, but not nearly as much as my favorite games on either of the other two consoles.

Now, if we bring emulation into the mix, the answer is clearly Saturn since I can buy old N64 and PS1 games on my WiiU, Wii, or Vita easily, but Saturn games are a whole 'nother story.

PS1. Pretty much for Square, MGS, Psygnosis games, Tekken, RE and Tomb Rider.

How could I forget my favorite game on that system: Castlevaina SOTN.

For its time, with friends and multiplayer parties, N64 was an amazing source of good times.

Now though as a dad/adult, Ps1 Rpg vault or bust.

Half the reason I got the Vita when I did was Ps1 classics.

Both Saturn and N64 have quality titles that would make anyone happy to play but PS1 just has so many more of them. I'd have to go with PS1 simply due to the number of quality titles on it.

Saying that one console is somehow the clear winner and there's no debate to be had is ridiculous. If you like RPGs, playstation franchises like silent hill, mgs, crash, spyro, etc, whatever else the ps1 had, then you'll probably prefer ps1. If you love mario, banjo, any of rare's stuff, then maybe you think the n64 unbeatable.

But, I have no idea how anyone can come to the conclusion that the saturn is automatically outclassed by either. Especially the people who don't even know the library. The system has literally some of the best 2D and 3D fighting games ever made, some of the best 2d shooters ever made, some of the best "beat em ups" ever, some of the best rail shooters, etc, etc.

Loving Rage Racer most certainly does not mean that same person will love Ridge Racer 64. That was the worst Ridge Racer in existence until the Vita came along.

Ridge Racer 64 is good albeit based on the first few more arcade-ish Ridge Racer instead of Rage Racer or Type-4.

N64 10000%

Games like OoT, Majoras Mask, Goldeneye, Smash Bros, Mario 64, Star Fox 64, and so many more. It's one of the greatest consoles of all time, to me.

I know what it's based on. I've been playing the series since the start. It's still the weakest link. Hell, I remember there being a 99 lap challenge in RR64, where my brothers simply put the car in a left drift and let it navigate the entire course for them.

It's good in relation to the average N64 racer (worse than its better ones though), but it's very low on the pecking order of Ridge Racer titles, whereas Rage, Type 4 and RRV are the probably the three best.

Too easy. PS1.

Final Fantasy 1,2,4-9, FF Tactics, Ape Escape, MGS, Crash, Spyro, Legacy of Kain, Syphon Filter games, Symphony of the Night, Chrono Cross, Vagrant Story, WipEout games, Silent Hill, Gran Turismo 2, Colony Wars Trilogy, Tomb Raider games, and the Suikoden games is enough to last me a lifetime, on repeat.

No One Can Stop Mr.Domino, too.

PS1.

Mgs, res evil, gran turismo, twisted metal, gta etc.... They are some of the best games ever made and I couldn't be without them.
