So 1080p Owners, what are your thoughts on the PRO?

Appealing. I don't even care that I don't have 4K for it. To me the downsampling IQ improvements half sold me already, and that's just a quick win developers can use, there are also "balls out graphics at 1080P" modes coming for a lot of games and a few 60fps or unlocked framerate modes.

There's oodles we can still do at 1080p. I wish TV makers decoupled HDR from 4K. I'm not down for spending more performance on 4K just yet, I don't think consoles should have made that move till the true next gen. 1080p for me is still fine for a few years.

When I have the money I'm getting the Pro. My friend's buying my old PS4 off me for $200 which is more than GameStop would take it for, and cheaper than he's been able to find anywhere else. It's a win-win.

I'm a graphics whore and I've been buying most of my games on PC, sort of ignoring PS4 exclusives. I'm getting back into the Uncharted collection so this Christmas I can play Uncharted 4 and The Last Guardian with the 1080p improvements the Pro provides.

okay I'm pretty sure the OP was asking people who already own the console and have a 1080P TV what they think about the Pro. I came in here to see their responses. I have my pro but I'm at work and didn't get to set it up yet so I'm curious to see the responses. Not the responses of people who haven't decided to get the console yet or people who are on the fence.

I've played Titanfall 2, Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted 4 on it so far.

The difference in Titanfall 2 is massive. Not so much for the other two.

Half step, focused on the minute 4k crowd over 1080p users. They messed up with their reveal marketing and focus. Scorpio will steal their lunch next year unless they're planning an early PS5.

Thanks for the positive feedback. jesus.

Anyways, I was considering one, but I might wait until I get a 4K TV as my old sony is starting to wane. It is tempting now though looking at some of these down sampled shots.

BF1 with a super smooth framerate is worth the price of admission alone to me. Though I traded my PS4 in for the Pro. For $200 I think it's a steal.

I'm getting one as my first PS4 console. For just an extra $100 I figure it's worth it, I actually expect 1080p60 streaming will the biggest boost for me.

I think everyone's deluding themselves into thinking the image quality improvements are going to be very worthwhile and strongly suspect Jeff Gerstmann's take is the correct one. I eventually will get a 4k tv so that's when I think it will actually be worth it outside of streaming.

If I had a PS4 already, I think it would be lunacy to upgrade for just 1080p TV. Hell, if my PS3 hadn't broken, I wouldn't be getting a PS4 yet because I really want it for Persona 5. But since I want it in February, figure imght as well get it now and play some of the exclusives I am in interested in - primarily R&C and Dragon Quest Builders. Maybe FFXV.

A lot of console people don't know how beautiful super sampling can be( or even what it is) . Going to be a lot of people blown away at the image quality.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
There's always one in every thread lol

Because if theres one thing we've learned over the past few days, its that echo chambers and bubbles can be a dangerous thing. Learn to accept different opinions.

Very happy with it so far, the super sampling alone is a game changer for me and makes far more of a difference than I was expecting.

To me the Pro is not a 4K system, (simply bullshit) but the Perfect 1080p console, its great.

This is such a silly comment. Some of the games look unbelievable on a 4K screen as well. I understand the point of this thread is not about 4K, but your comment is far too harsh and at odds with reality.

For a 1080p user here that has not a whole lot of interest in 4K gaming yet.

Finally consoles can get around to 1080p 60FPS.

It's amazing.
InFAMOUS, ROTR and Knack have an option to run at around 60fps. Supersampled games look amazing (as you can see with pics around here) and games like Titanfall just look a whole lot better (again, it does justice to the screens).

All in all, I'm impressed.

The new controller somewhat feels cheaper though.

Lmao seriously some folks.

Infamous: Second Son even without the Pro patch is still one of the best looking PS4 games even today. It looks fucking awesome with the Pro it seems.

What is Infamous running at internally? Pretty damn nice.

Not jumping for $400. Current PS4 is just fine. Will rather buy Switch.

Looks good for a very boring game and no I'm not trolling. Second Son is boring.

Ok dude. Besides, thats such an unwarranted comment, we are talking about the the benefits to 1080p but you gotta bring the quality of the game into question as a deflection.

Not particularly happy about a mid-gen hardware refresh, but hey, this is the way the wind is blowing. I think Microsoft's timing better reflects the state of anticipation/readiness for 4K gaming, but Sony had the balls to get their device out of the gate early.

I hope enough developers follow the trend of providing an option for enhanced performance over graphical fidelity, as that's one consoles-masquerading-as-PC's development I can get behind. Sad it has to come to this though - I'm sure we could have eked out more performance from current hardware (looking at Naughty Dog specifically).

However, to play the hypocrite, I'm not too unhappy about the prospect of a new God of War game, for example, on the Pro!

Very happy. But i play on a really large screen. It's so great to see almost no shimmering and no jaggies. The entire image gets so calm while you play. Normally a lot of shimmering in the distance makes the image noisy. I wish every game would get a patch.

Ratchet and Clank will be used a lot to show off at friends. Wow.

Makes sense. TF2 is 900p on OG. 900p games will have the most noticable benefits.

I'm probably gonna hold off on one until Horizon Zero Dawn is out. Nothing new except The Last Guardian for me this year anyway, and I think the standard PS4 will be just fine.

I bought a gaming PC just a few months ago, and as it's more powerful than the Pro, only exclusives can really sway me.

I honestly do not like Second Son. I could go in a full rant on how its a disaster. Seeing it on Pro doesnt impress me.

Not noticing much of a difference in patched games. PSVR however is a huge difference. Driveclub looks incredible.

Just got my ps4 pro today. I only have a 1080p TV. The image quality is so clean when playing Ratchet & Clank!

Wow it's a good thing this thread has nothing to do at all with how much you did or didn't enjoy the game

... *sigh* Let me flip things so things dont turn ugly. Uncharted 4 on Pro would be cool to experience to compare it to my original experience on PS4.

Downsampling will always provide an increase in IQ over the original rendered resolution. It just makes everything cleaner in general.

Based on my own experience in downsampling on PC I still don't think it's enough for me to warrant getting a Pro at this stage. I'll wait until I can get a 4K TV.

1080p? Believe in the fireflies too.

Maybe I'm seeing things, but the colors looks more vivid on my cheap monitor?
