PlayStation 4 Pro |Launch Thread| PS4 Reloaded

got my ps4 pro
playing TLOU now and i found the high pitch sound noise DF referred during the game installs is heard or not heard depending on the angle of the system in relation to your head.
qTFilbPm.jpg

i have it set vertically and if i adjust the angle to where the system power led is facing me, i can't hear it. but if i rotate so the ps symbol faces me, i can hear the high pitched whine. (only while a disc is installing)

this may be why some are complaining while others may not hear it at all.

Tried it out first time today. So good. Titanfall2 downsampling is godly.

Also tried game sharing for the first time today. So awesome. My son and I can play online using the same ps+ account, and only had to buy one copy of the game. Crazy.

Switching between 60fps mode and 4k graphics on Tomb Raider made me realize I will choose graphics over FPS every time.

I wonder if others will admit it. Not saying you were one of those "give me 1080p 60fps over resolution" people, but I am finding friends saying that they prefer the prettier graphics over the better frame rate.

Is anyone else's HDD in the Pro really fricken loud? when my console is on it's loud enough but on rest mode when it's downloading it's all I can hear and it's driving me nuts

Mine is silent man. I literally had to lay my ear on top just to be sure it was actually on. I've had it in rest mode downloading for about an hour now.

Sorry if this was answered earlier but do you have to do something to activate 4K on Uncharted 4 and TLoU? Hitting info on my TV shows it running at 1920x1080 but if I close the game and go to the PS4's menu and hit info, it shows 3840x2160.

Mckmaster uses MasterCard to buy Slave drives
Should I hook up the HDMI cable in the Pro box in any particular way to get the best out of the Pro?

Is this HDMI cable special?

Depends the game.

Infamous barely looks any better while the framerate changes how the game plays.

I believe that if you set the frame rate to locked 30 in TLoU settings then the game will be displayed at 4K resolution and therefore the info will change.

Just got a pro and these are my settings below. Does it look okay or am I missing something?

The tv is an LG OLED 1080P CURVED 2015 model 55".

Looking for some insight here to make sure I'm getting the best I can!

When I go to the PS4 video output info on the Pro it says:

Resolution: 1920 x 1080 - 60 Hz
Color Format: RGB
HDR on your TV: Not Supported
HDCP: 1.4

Is this okay?

Thanks guys!

You should probably return your PS4 Pro if you can't tell the difference, downsampling is enabled by default in TLOU and First Light.

You could actually hear the HDD be written too from across the room on mine when it first started downloading while in rest mode it was really pissing me off now though it's gotten pretty silent.

Also it seems to have somehow downloaded the whole infamous second sun in under an hour....according the the download queue on the app anyway...must check it's still downloading cause thats way to fast for PSN lol

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Wow so here is something interesting to note with tomb raider. Check out the difference between enriched visuals 1080p native vs 4k mode downsampled to 1080p. I will still keep enriched visuals on because i do like the cinematic hair along with the other effects but the difference in clarity is huge on my tv! Well, this is what downsampling does! Decisions, decisions..... ooo and the high framerate mode is surreal! THIS is how you do a PRO patch.

Yep, same kind of deal with Shadow of Mordor.

Played through both modes and didn't notice anything explicit in the enriched visuals mode, keeping the game on 4K mode because the MUCH sharper IQ and no shimmering is a lot more obvious to my eyes.

Knack just got its Pro update. Now it lets you pick 1080p with a better framrate or 4K. The odd part is you pick as soon as the game launches. So if you want to change it you'll need to close the app/game completely and start it again to change that option. It's an odd way of doing it.

Just a few Dishonored 2 screen running on the Pro.
The game supports 4K, unfortunately no HDR

So I have Dishonored 2 and see no mention of 4K in any of the menus. They also didn't mention it on any updates. So pro/4K is just a part of them game I take it?

The thing is with "enriched visuals" you don't know exactly what you're looking for so it can be harder to tell. With 4K downsampling you know the effect consist of reducing aliasing and shimmering.

only if you have a gigabit network, technically if you only have a 10/100 network you'd get faster speeds on 5Ghz

OK second dumb question... I have a Netgear Nighthawk router which is gigabit... do I need special Ethernet cables to enable gigabit? Or is it the same? If I need special cables to do gigabit I'll just use wireless. Thanks!
