I'm betting that Daddy Ryder is going to wind up being like Krall from Star Trek Beyond, probably unintentionally, which is not terrible per se, as long as they actually spend some time on him as the bad guy.

I somewhat disagree. IMO, based on the trailer they get attacked by the Khet when they arrive in the Helios Cluster and Alec goes rogue to fuck their shit up. I think it'll be a question of how far is too far in the defense of the new arrivals.

They made a veteran of the First Contact War for a reason.

I still hate how that's possible.

I swear to god they retconned that late in the process of ME1. There's a bunch of stuff that point to the FC War being like 50-70 years prior to ME1 instead of like 28, and it's always bugged me.

heh

Those banners/flags remind of DA:I enemy camps

Hmm, I wonder if you'll land on planets with primitive civilizations?

I wonder if the "Big Bad" is like a galactic filter in Andromeda, keeping all of the other races stuck in the Dark Ages...

It would explain why Swords and Hammers are weapons now.

Aww I want companions to be able to die. It was one of the hooks for the original trilogy.

Kind of a bummer.

I can understand why though; companions are huge slices of content (and apparently even more so in Andromeda) so it's probably better for the developer's sanity if their presence isn't optional in the sequels.

Having said that, I hope they compensate with better reactivity in the relationship - even if they can't die, might be interesting if a companion develops different attitudes to Ryder based on your choices.

I wouldn't be shocked to see this, as they played with it a little bit in DA:I (notably with Cole and Iron Bull).

Considering how badly it hurted ME3 that ME2 companions could die, I think it's for the best if they stay alive this time.

How did it hurt ME3?

It emotionally impacted me when Mordin sacrificed himself.

Or having to choose between Ashley and Kaiden.

Or knowing that I could lose people in the suicide mission if I didn't play it right.

Because they couldn't write detailed missions and storylines for ME2 characters because they might not be alive - and you couldn't have them interacting it's each other because there were so many possibilities about who would live and die.

I think ME2 had the greatest end game sequence I've played in the last 10 years, but I absolutely see the issue with it - it should be the end of the trilogy end sequence, not the middle. You want ME2 character building and focus in your first game, and it's ending possibilities in your final game.

Story wise it was ridiculous, but mechanically wise it was amazing. I always thought this was the future of Mass Effect 3, the same would happen like in the end of 2, but this time, instead of single characters, entire armies would be affected.

That's why I love the recruiting missions of ME3, it was like ME2's recruiting/loyalty missions, but bigger and better.
Tuchanka/Sur'kesh are one of the best moments of entertainment I've ever experienced.
And if the ending was like ME2, where all of our work is put to the test.... the dream.

I'm really really sad we won't get this in MEA.

What about Jack or Grunt? Thrown into some side mission, easily replaced by another human or krogan if they happen to die in ME2.

Oh what could have been a ME3 with Grunt having more exposition. He was great in the Rachni mission. At least we also got the Citadel DLC.

No driving a stupid model ship around a map.
A better sense of scale.
You can see the planets outside your ship.
A better sense of actually being in space.

I requested all of these things and I take full credit for all of them

Turians are in. Explanation for Krogans.

Ah! So, here's the thing about other races: 4 specifically came to Andromeda on the Arks (Turian, Salarian, Human, Asari). However, the Nexus (which is kind of like Andromeda's version of the Citadel) was sent ahead of the Arks, and the Nexus had a more varied staff.

I don't know specifically which other races (apart from Krogan) got to Andromeda via the Nexus, but theoretically, it could be any of them.

At the same time, because this is the fresh start for the series, I don't think the team wants to overwhelm players with a bunch of weirdo aliens, so don't expect ALL of them to show up. If I had to bet, I'd say Quarians will be there. I wouldn't be so confident in C-tier species like Vorcha, Batarians, etc...

I'm happy for all of that too :) plus no loading when you walk around the different levels of your ship.

So... randomly decided to pull out my copy of ME:3 on Wii U.

Logged on and played online for about three hours. Amazingly, there were people on and I never once had to wait to get into a game. Every time someone dropped out, someone else came in. I never went through a single wave with less than four players...

Who knew? Mass Effect 3 Wii U apparently still has a multiplayer userbase.

Howdy all probably not the best place to ask but I'm currently playing through ME2 and 3 on PC to prepare myself for Andromeda but the jaggies are annoying me a little. So I've tried using DSR and run the game at a higher resolution to alleviate it somewhat but I just get a black screen whenever I use any resolution higher than 1080p. Tried doing it on BFBC2 as well and I got the same issue. I'm on a 970.

Anyone else had this issue? Just thought it would be good to ask in here in case other people are doing the same as me the andromeda info dump on N7 day :p

For ME2, use GeDoSaTo.

Thank Durante for his efforts if you like it.

My ONE issue with ME3 Multi that I didn't notice back in the day is that the camera is way, way, WAY too close, at least on the smaller characters. Needs a higher FoV stat.

I tried to hold off kicking into another Trilogy run but the BC addition pushed me over the edge.

A little way through ME1 (Insanity, of course) and taking my time to re-smell all the roses, Level 20 and I haven't done any of the story missions yet apart from getting Liara: I'm going to so OP by game's end XD.

Performance is definitely better on Xbox One: texture pop is minimal and loading is waaay quicker: nice we upgrade thanks MS!

Still discovering new things this playthrough, even though i've completed the game 7 times previously lol, what an amazing time we live in.

I can't wait for ME:A to recapture the sense of landing on planets and not knowing what you may find on each one: except not prefabs that all look the same, and derelict ships with the exact same layout: if ME1 is amazing with all these flaws, just imagine how rad ME:A can be.... *swoon*.

Without having teammates who are capable of dying depending on your choices, not very rad.

Not really. The game is nicely balanced for difficulty, and I believe it's more or less impossible to get beyond level 58 in a single run unless you sit and just ground out levels at the few places with infinite spawns.

It takes about as much experience as it took to get from 1 to 40 just to go from 59 to 60.

Oh I'm not trying to go for a max out or anything, but definitely never like being underleveled for the
Benezia
fight on Noveria and the
zombie husks
on Feros....talk about intense if you're not geared and levelled right on Insanity with Vanguard in light armor.

Also, regarding the choice of Mac et al to keep companions through to the next ME:A, it's their creative choice, if it makes for a stronger story overall I'm 100% down for it. I never let anyone die anyway in any of the ME games, too completionist for that; so doesn't affect me XD.

Is it possible to get Bring Down the Sky for the PC version of ME1 still? I just had a chat with Origin support and they gave me Pinnacle Station (which btw is a separate download in my library???) but said they couldn't add BDTS because it "wasn't available anymore." Any ideas?

Try this page.

The download link is towards the bottom of the page. Ignore all the steps about needing to log in. Just download and install.

Thanks.

The install for ME1 finished and it actually says I already have BDTS installed. I checked the "DLC" folder and it's already in there. I guess they bundle it with the Origin version automatically now.

Ashley/Kaiden
some deaths were unavoidable. But maybe they want to make sure you're really attached before they start gut punching in the next game

While I agree with this, I wish he hadn't of flat out said it. I want that feeling of dread when the shit hits the fan, just holding tight hoping my best friends aren't going to die. I still will have those feelings, though only because I feel he miiiiight be lying. (Might just be me convincing myself to preserve the ever so magic Mass Effect immersion) I would've much preferred "Wait and see" answer from Mac.
