Which current generation game holds the best graphics title?

It's got to be Uncharted 4. On a visual front there's just nothing I can fault it for, apart from the occasionally dodgy water-crashing-against-a-rock texture. The game is poetry in motion.

And no one can come close to Naughty Dog when it comes to animation. Those characters are so lifelike.

There are amazing looking games with great screenshots but in terms of playing them nothing comes close to The Order. Not a single jaggy, not a single (noticable) drop in framerate. The transitions between cutscene and gameplay are unbelievable, where I sometimes didn't even realize I could move the character now.

Uncharted looks great but it's not quite on that level of realism to me, while playing it anyway.

Of course not, those are all great looking games, but the title says "best graphics title".

And to those people, in their opinions, they have the best graphics. If IQ is the top thing for you then fine, but its not going to be the same thing for everyone.

AAA console exclusives have a tendency to look better than PC exclusives.

Uh, just, no.

They look amazing for the technology they run on but no. I may have argued that case last gen but no longer.

Realism: .The Order 1886, followed by Uncharted 4
Cartoon: Ratchet & Clank
Art Style: Bloodborne

Edit: I just realized I only listed PS4 exclusives....just to let you know I own all consoles (and a pretty good gaming PC) and I'm not a diehard Sony fan. I just happen to like the graphics on these games a lot.

I keep going back and forth between UC4 and The Order. I think my top 3 most visually impressive games are:

1) Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
2) The Order: 1886
3) Ratchet & Clank

I actually think that Ratchet will, for a lot of people, rank as the #1 most visually impressive title.

Paper Mario: Color Splash nails the papercraft look in a way that's appreciably different to tearaway. The lighting gives it a more grounded look:

Absolutely stunning! Love the use of color.

Save for something like Star Citizen, which PC games hold up to the standard of Uncharted 4, The Order 1866, and R&C?

Uncharted 4 looks great of course and Battlefield 1 and Battlefront are fucking astounding but why are we not talking about one of the best looking games ever both from a technical and artistic perspective?

It's still The Order 1886 and it will probably not be beat. The game compromises pretty much everything else to reach that target and it shows. In the case of a contender like Uncharted 4 ND went for bigger more open levels so it had to sacrifice for it with the quality of the assets (which look amazing but still not on the same level as The Order). Seeing some of the smaller interiors like Nate's home, in some areas it's definitely the best.

This makes hopeful TLoU2 since the first game had a lot of homes, and cramped interiors which they could definitely push to a level maybe even above The Order.

There is nothing on PC that looks as good to me as Uncharted 4, The Order, etc.

I guess it depends on a lot of factors, not the least of which is the quality and size of the display one plays on.

While I absolutely love the PS4 exclusives that keep being mentioned in this thread, it always pains me how their potential is diminished by the low res and IQ.

At the very least its less of a problem now with the Pro, especially on a 1080p screen where its supersampled

I'm no racing gamer, but Horizon looks brilliant. I was also pretty impressed with the cut scenes of Gears 4.

Forza Horizon 3 looks pretty great, especially considering it's a 1080P, open world Xbox One title with GI. Some Xbox One screens:

Surprised that there's no mention on Infinite Warfare in here. Haven't played it on OG PS4, but on the Pro it is something else, and running at 60fps. I was shocked at how good it looked, seriously.

Forza Horizon 3
Or
Battlefield 1

Edit:wait are we talking titles just on the PS4/Pro?

If that the case then I'd probably vote Uncharted 4.

Can you like name one PC exclusive, that isn't Star Citizen, to support your point ?

You can't just come in here and say "I'm surprised at people naming console games" and not actually give an example of a game that is PC exclusive and clearly technologically superior to what we have on consoles.

Infact even PC version of multiplat games don't fit that opinion in that the core technology remains largely unchanged, more so than last gen.

Yea Infinite Warfare campaign looks really really good. It runs pretty well even in standard PS4. The MP on the other hand actuslly looks worse than Black Ops 3, probably due to its art style and colours being very different from campaign.

The Order: 1886 was the first game that really impressed me this gen. Battlefront, P.T. and others looked great too, but they never looked as realistic as The Order: 1886.

Arkham Knight is really an amazing feat. The scene where Batman just throws a batarang up in the sky and the camera follows it all the way up just blew my mind. They got to really stretch their muscles after Asylum and City.

Not like zooming so far out is anything new, but it appearing in a game that also has this kind of quality up close was new to me

A list thread!

Uncharted 4 is the most impressive IMO with its insane level of details, incredible animations and lighting. Oh and the option to scale down the motion blur...

Ratchet & Clank also looks incredible, even more so on the Pro.

The Order still is fantastic graphics wise.

(I'm also a fan of Bound & Tearaway's IQ).

And well, BF1/FH3/DC also look pretty good.

I'm still saying the Order 1886 for more realistic visuals. Even though it's not implementing every single advanced graphics feature (no game is), it's art direction and custom shots make it stand out among the pack.

However, imo every other game looks similar in one way or another where none of them really stand out to be a mighty showcase. And that includes all the PC games as well.

Finally, with VR starting to spread it's wings, no other game has yet to make me "stare in awe" like Elite:Dangerous has.

Uncharted 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider are duking it out for me, but playing Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC puts it over the top. 60fps with max effects and 1440p down sampled looks amazing. I get dips from 60, but nothing terrible and I can drop a few effects if I want to and not really notice them missing.

Final Answer Rise of the Tomb Raider PC.

I would like to try Unity on my 1070 though.
