I have those posters on my wall and I didn't know about the secret messages.

I had money set aside for a collectors Edition but these don't interest me in the least. I expected something awesome not a RC car to scare the cat with.

I was hesitant to watch the video on the Kett, thought I'd seen enough. But I just wanted something more after N7 day. No regrets, it was enough to excite me but nothing there to spoil me.

They've been mentioned as the Antagonists, I'm wondering if that'll be for the whole game or more like the first arc of the story. And also is it like a group of Kett? Like some bad ones or do we think it'll be like the Kett government against the newcomers?

Very curious, though hoping they don't turn out to be just a bunch of bad guys, want some depth.

Mac said a while back the Kett's actions against the player and friends are indicative of a faction not a species.

Too tired to source it, will do tomorrow.

Please don't forget to spoiler tag everything.

EVERYTHING

Just to clarify, would you consider things in trailers/pre-release knowledge spoilers, or do you mean Trilogy spoilers?

Kind of hard to talk normally about Andromeda hype building if you're meaning pre-release knowledge surely.... (correct me if I'm wrong here).

I can understand the desire to spoiler tag stuff. Bioware is notoriously bad at keeping things under wraps. If you look at Mass Effect 2's press cycle, they pretty much revealed everything barring the final mission in early media.

I feel like there's a balance to talking about that stuff here versus the myriad of Andromeda threads that will be popping up, but that's not on me to decide where the line is.

Eventually, I think people will have to make a choice and if they really want to go in totally unspoiled, they probably should avoid all ME threads, including this one. I know that I'm planning on avoiding this thread after the gameplay trailer, assuming it shows what I want to know.

I think that's a solid idea: as with a subjective thing like spoilers (one man's spoiler is another man's little tidbit of info) there is no firm line in the sand apart from un-marketed plot points, character decisions and deaths I reckon.

The only thing pre-launch that could really spoil stuff for everyone is leaks, but as far as I'm aware, the leaked stuff is all covered already (and was bang on might I add), so hopefully that's the end of those and we can feel somewhat safe in here concerning any major spoilers.

I'm here till release unless there are story leaks....then I'm probably out of here faster than Usain Bolt down a running track :)

I mean, English isn't my first language so I don't know how wrong it sounds.

Do you mean that race of men should be changed to humans because women aren't in the title?
My bad, I didn't mean it that way - I was just spinning off the convo with the other guy about how referring to humans wholly as a "race" just comes from old English. It wasn't about men/women.

Mass Effect 2 tells you what needs to be done from the start, and the death/revival of shepard was just a marketing stunt anyway and only hurt the game story wise. I don't think there was something lost from revealing stuff in ME2.

However since we are in the "errmagawd one step for humanz one leap for teh galaxy Andromda is our new home and its full of secrets" mentality I'd figure we keep those secrets secrets.

If it's a video showcasing gameplay and stuff that is fully revealed from the start we're good. We should have some basis to discuss.

So, I talk a lot of shit about ME1, but I just started my X1 trilogy replay, and you know what?

I was far, far too kind. What the fuck is even going on with the cover system in this? And the guns, oh my god, these are AWFUL. Standing 10 feet away from a Husk, pouring round after round into them, to absolutely NO effect as the dice rolls put my shots juuuuust off target. Intensely frustrating. Glad I went Sentinel, so I can at least rely on my powers to make this go easier.

You shall have them!!!!

Now you know how I felt last month when I replayed it on PC.

Where did they actually refer to those items as the Mass Effect Andromeda Collector's Edition?

Idk to me it's whatever. It allows more people around the world to get the special items and less retail hell of having 5 giant boxes only for Xbox One, 5 only for PS4, etc

Yep, better structured for consumers and everyone.

I see the collectors edition toy but it straight up says it as one title referring to the toy and the picture is only showing the toy, no art. This isn't like the Wolfenstein Collector's Edition or Halo 5 Guardians Collector's Edition which didn't actually refer to a specific object but also didn't include the discs and were suggestive of being game bundles.

The way this one is written seems no different than Star Wars The Force Awakens Collector's Edition Kylo Ren Lightsaber. Like I would assume that is an item and not the movie itself. That's how this Nomad thing is written on Amazon so I don't get the surprise.

Look:

The Wolfenstein and Halo 5 ones legit worded it like it could have been referring to the game but they didn't actually include game discs. That isn't the case with how this item is listed so maybe go read that again.

I legit don't get how you would conclude that it is the game, should include the game, etc. It is no different from the numerous other special items they sell on the BioWare store to collect as fans.

Newest GI video didn't reveal much new except that Daniel Simon is designing vehicles.

Here's a screengrab to chew on though.

Despite my initial outburst of optimism on N7Day I wish I could be more excited about this. I waited almost 5 years for this game to come out and I'm not feeling any kind of interest in my heart for the game. Everything I've seen and read about just makes me disappointed.

Yeah, honestly, the Andromeda Initiative video with Papa Ryder and rando-woman standing on the Moon and talking about going to Andromeda was probably the only thing to get any sort of reaction besides boredom or irritation.

somebody at work was trying to tell me the same thing: why then, are the words "collector's edition" necessary at all? couldn't they have ended at "Mass Effect Andromeda Remote Control Nomad 1"?

instead they call it a collector's edition of the video game itself but since the video game itself isn't apparently part of it's own fucking collector's edition, there's a note there for the consumer to see that the "game is not included" - why call it "collector's edition" then? this doesn't make sense, at all

It doesn't say it is a collector's edition of the game. You ignoring the part where the item title is given completely and the item happens to be from MEA. There's a million items called "[Franchise or sequel name] Collector's Edition [Made in China mass produced thing that a marketing team knew you'd buy even though the actual characters you like in the games would never be caught dead with that kind of stuff in their house]"

There's legit nothing weird or misleading about that item being a collector's edition figurine or whatever. Nothing wrong with Mass Effect Limited Edition Lithogrpahs etc. You are reading it like "Mass Effect Andromeda Collector's Edition Nomad Replica" to convenience yourself. What the hell else are the going to call a special/limited/collector's edition collectible based on their game? Or are they not supposed to let people know if the item was conceived for limited or collector release from this day forward?

Like are you saying: Made a "Mass Effect Andromeda Special Edition Strategy Guide"? Don't call it that. It could mean it is the Mass Effect Andromeda Special Edition and is misleading. A "Mass Effect 3 Limited Edition Normandy 1:64 Replica" - not okay

then how is it a collector's edition at all if the core product is not included? the terminology for the retail release of a video game always had "collector's edition" of a video game release mean that it is the video game plus collectible items. always. this is the first i've heard of a "collector's edition" where the game isn't included and the description has to say so.

with this example here - why would they need to call this strategy guide, the "special edition"? wouldn't it just be "mass effect andromeda strategy guide"? calling it "mass effect andromeda special edition strategy guide" would make me only think that

a. it is a special edition of the release of mass effect andromeda that includes a strategy guide or
b. it is a special version of the mass effect andromeda game, called mass effect andromeda special edition, and a strategy guide was made for this version of the game

i'm afraid i'm with y'all here. it feels like my love & hype for ME started, peaked, and ended with Me2. maybe something about Me4 will get me back into the swing but there's nothing really that's got me longing for it, you know. not the same way I did for Uc4, or even Me3 way before it came out.
Mess with the bull *krrrrrrrrrrrrrrrsht*

alright, you win.

EDIT: sorry for double post

ME3 multiplayer was the best Mass Effect. That shit owned and i think i have like 700 hours logged into it.

Also, that Kett race in Andromeda is just the most lazy shit possible. We are in another galaxy and all Bioware can come up with is ''looks human but with white eyes and i guess wearing some sort of helmet?'.

Yeah, the Kett don't look very unique, but I'm going to try to keep an open mind. You can have a good angle to make up for a generic look I guess.

That's is some reductive bullshit right here. And I say that ignoring the fact that maybe we should wait a little until we know something more about not only the Kett, but also the other new races.

At any rate, I for one think they look pretty cool. Having a race be totally out of this world doesn't actually ADD anything substantial to anything. They need to look distinctive, and I think the Kett design achieves that. I mean, the most out of this world race in Mass Effect was probably the Hanar and the Elkor. But their appearance wasn't what I remember most fondly.

Even if they wanted to go with the ''human but slightly different'' look, they had better more original ideas in their concept art:

But they ended up with a slightly modified Prothean from ME3.

While I don't disagree with you that the concept arts look more interesting, unique, to say that the Ketts looks like slightly modified Protheans is ridiculous.

If I had to guess, Bioware didn't want them to look too alien because of their continuing belief that players cannot empathize with anything that isn't humanlike.

I wonder if bioware's heard the random thoughts of adding splitscreen multiplayer...

chances are it is extremely unlikely, but I still think it'd be a pretty cool idea.

I mean, there's a considerable portion of the population that can't emphasize with other humans because of stuff like facial structure and melanin content.

They're really not wrong.

Splitscreen can be very taxing on the system, because it has to deal with rendering two totally different scenes.

I doubt they'd want to take the visual hit to allow it.
