Forza Motorsport 6 |OT| Forza turns 10

Dat salt. :)

I will say that I was going to put this as the GAF car club description but there is only a 200 character limit.

Volkswagen just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about car culture (I'm an expert), but speed and sick air are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in Australia where you can become successful by being an Ute. If you screw someone over in Horizon, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the car lovers, after hearing about this, are not going to want to purchase a Jetta for hooning around, nor will they purchase any VW car. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but VW has alienated an entire market with this move.

VW, publicly apologize and sign up with Forza or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Too much?

I read on a conspiracy website that if you load the gif in to Photoshop and look the driveclubbed part is set to run at half the speed of the rest of the gif.

Yeah. No doubt, but it's been particularly $@#% these last few weeks.

Yes and the FFB is greatly improved over the FFB in Forza 6 imo. They did a pretty good job with it.

Ok I just tried F6: Apex with my G27 and I must say, either this is a horrible lie, or my settings are completely off, this is basically the worst ffb I've seen in my life.

Sure, the steering wheel shakes and all, but if the car goes into a slide, you have NO IDEA how far you have to counter steer to bring it back, it just shakes the same no matter what angle you put it in.

Have you tried Forza 6 on Xbox One? I'm comparing it to that. Before I tried the FH3 demo it was the worst FFB I've experienced. Apex is a clear step up so if you think that's bad you'd really be appalled at the FFB in regular Forza 6 lol.

I actually do get half decent FFB when I drift in Apex though so it sounds like our experiences are different. There is one car that has especially bad FFB in Apex (Ariel Atom) but everything else I've tried has been acceptable.

Everytime I see that carnage GIF I always feel bad for Soundscream and his poor Nova it always bring a tear to my eye

Jesus, how bad can it be?

I remember playing Forza 4 with my Microsoft wireless wheel and the ffb was actually really good!

I tried the 458 Speciale and the 60's Camaro, both are undrivable once they get into a slide.

It's every RWD car that has an easy time to overpower its rear wheels, higher body rigidity also plays into this.

Can you share your FFB settings from Apex? I think I tried everything, but once I lose grip it's game over, it's like somebody unplugged my wheel (even inverting the FFB doesn't make it feel any more or less terible, it's a complete disconnect for me), the only workaround is to turn the outdated, game-iefied traction control on, so I almost never lose so much grip that the forces are turned off. It's better (but of course not "good") in FM6 for me and I can't really put a finger on, why that's the case. Turn 10 changed something to dial down the snap oversteer, it was in the December update, I think (or was it November?). But in April it felt worse again for me, but couldn't find anything in the patch notes. Apex must have issues in the same physics calculations.

Yup, it's pretty frustrating. I'd be a level higher if it'd update properly. I need those extra credits and Horizon 3 bonus cars!

There are almost 40 members in the ForzaGAF club now, and a couple dozen more that have requested invites. I wonder how the turnouts to actual events are going to be?

I've posted my settings in the Apex thread since it might help other people there.

I didn't notice the change in December. I wonder if I had already switched to a controller by then. Forza 6 feels the same with a wheel now as it did when it launched based on my memory. It's a shame we can't revert back to older patches just to test stuff out.

I hope Forza 4 becomes backwards compatible. I've never played it with a wheel, I only played it with a controller. I sort of remember hearing that it had issues with 900 degree wheels though. Is that correct?

I'm sure Zorbs will schedule them during the football games.
I think he hates America. :p

Hopefully the club feature will make impromptu events more common too.

It's not me, it's those damn Europeans. :)

Beta Xbox app has been updated with clubs. Anyone can get it.

It finally happened. The Back of the Pack mod is mine!

wouldn't have thought of you as an achievement hunter.
(I got a little bit like that in the last week too because I wanted to be reward-level 8 before I start FH3, but I got 900 gamerscore out of Apex within 3-4 hours or so; lazy approach was totally sufficient for me)

I don't usually care much about achievements unless you have to do something really fun to get them but when I saw I was only a few hundred points away from Tier 9 Forza rewards I figured why not. Mission successful, I'm Tier 9 now.

It turns out I didn't even finish all the Porsche showcase events in Forza 6 so I did those too. I'm glad I ended up noticing that while looking for easy achievements because they were pretty fun. Now all I need to do before the Forza Horizon 3 Peasants Edition unlocks for me is finish up Storm Island. If it ends up being long I won't finish it on time though.

Storm Island is not that big on content imo (tiny map, very limited number of events compared to the main game's supergrindy 168 championships) and in my case only some of the showcases were problematic so I didn't fight for the achievement for finishing all of them.

Anyway getting 3000 points for FH2 (+500 from Fast & Furious expansion) in Forza Rewards is quite easy and enjoyable. I got everything after about 30-35 days of playing so I only had to keep logging in daily after that to get 100%. :)

I played the FM6 campaign through in the first week, wanted to save with the showcases for when I got my alcantara wheel, then played a few of those events, got angry with what they ask of you and how the game feels and handles with a wheel and from then on only played rivals here and there (and of course free-play in the same car division after they implemented that option, which was a blessing). I probably have a showcase completion rate of 25% or so.
Coming from the car handling of AC, rF2 or R3E back to Forza builds up this inner anger and frustration in me for like 30 minutes ...and then I either have a sense of achievement again and am willing to adapt to how Forza feels/handles and keep going or something tips me over and I rage-quit, damning how garbage this game feels and telling myself I should never play this thing ever again. ...and then I always do ...and probably for the wrong reasons.

I know this is late, but I'm sending this out to Petran today. Celebrating Wendal Clark for scale. :) Needless to say, had a blast racing every week with the crew and will do another league series with FM7 I'm sure. But seriously, can someone in North America win this time. Shipping to Greece, is not cheap :)

Yeah it's strange, I got the money in Horizon 3, but not in Forza 6 even though I was logging in almost every day since Friday. It's not a big deal, because I've won 3 million credits in the last 4 prizespins in Forza 6. :]

So I decided to go for Sebring 300. Man it was tiring - I ended it in around 2 hours 45 minutes. I chose the Peugeot and the visibility from the cockpit cam was very poor so I had to disable physical damage because the AI doesn't get out of your way when they're being lapped. :/ It was great, though (and I leveled up 12 times :D). I definitely plan on finishing all endurance showcases.

Copy-pasting from the FH3 thread...

I just noticed that ForzaGAF has about 75 outstanding invitation requests.

And that someone made me an admin -- not sure who though that was a good idea. :p

At any rate, I've accepted invites from all I recognized. If you're someone who still needs an invite, please post about it here on in the FH3 thread.

Oh that explains all the invites I've been seeing... Guess I'll keep an eye on this too sorry to everyone I've missed so far

The invites are just crazy. And I don't recognize any of the names. Also no one is actually telling us, "Hey, I've sent a request to join." message. Is there a xbox clubs thread here? Maybe we can lay some steps down so people don't wait forever. lol

May be I can get some help here, I am finally got over Microsoft compatibility bullshit and going to spend money on new wheel for Xbox One and retired my Fanatec and I see Thrustmaster TX on sale for 250 but some of the reviews are really rough on this product though they are all pretty old review from when the wheel came out 2 years ago. My questions are has the situation on this wheel improve and will I be able to mount this thing on top of my Fanatec wheel stand or do I have to fork out additional money for the stand.

Thank you for any help or suggestion. I know this thread is sort of dead lately.

The TX feels absolutely fantastic with the right rim, the original 458 italia TX rim is too light, the GTE and leather rim are a bit too heavy, the 599xx rim is pretty much perfect from the weight/diameter. Forza is not necessarily the game that makes the wheel shine though.

About quality, yes, there are a lot of people with broken TX and T300 Thrustmaster wheels, but I've used mine somewhere around 1000h and it's as good as it was on day1.
For wheel preservation I have mine set to 70-75% master FFB on the PC (and I think that gets saved wheel-side and isn't overriden on the XB1). Also, if drive WITH the FFB not against it, hold against the force, don't push into and past it. Stalling a wheel at high force output is hard enough on the motor coils. There is also a setting in the PC driver that lets you have the cooling fan all the time (the option is new), if you absolutely need the strongest FFB.

I don't know if it fits on a fanatec wheelstand, maybe you have to drill some holes yourself. Maybe this picture helps:
t300_07zuk5h.jpg

pic not from me (it's a T300, it mounts the same as a TX), measured by myself - might be off 1-2mm. The big hole closer to the front is for using the clamp instead of the 2 holes (I think it's M5 allen screws)

Thank you for the help much appreciated!

So if I am not going to use the wheel for PC sim racing would I just be better off buying something like the cheaper TMX or Logitech 920 and call it a day. I want something that have good FFB but I don't really need super accurate.

I never tried a TMX or G920, but I've tried a G27, which is supposed to be just like the G29/920. For me, no question I would want a belt-driven mechanic, it's much smoother from the FFB. There was a guy on the PC sim racing thread on GAF a few months back who said that he bought a G29, wasn't happy and tried the T150(the TMX version for the PS4) and preferred that over the G29 because of the belt , at the same time the wheel felt too cheap for him and now he has T300 and is super happy with that (it also has a lot lower resolutions precision-wise). Betta Lines - maybe the fastest sim racer on GAF - said he'd prefer the G29 over the T150 - (he himself plays Forza with TX though, if I remember that right).

My comment about "Forza not being the title to make it shine" is more about Forza's "philosophy" of FFB than about the console. It's not trying to replicate the forces you would feel on a real steering wheel like sims usually do, it's more of a helper that tells you where the limit is. If you just want this for Forza, a cheaper wheel would do. But there are other great driving games on Xbox too (DiRT and Assetto Corsa feel really good for example). There is also the eco-system aspect, all Thrustmaster pedal sets and all wheel-addons work on all Thrustmaster wheel bases, Logitech has you stuck.

Sorry if all that didn't make your decision any easier.

Personally I couldn't go back to a g27 or g25 after upgrading to a TX. Feels good with that differnt motor in it.
I assumed you don't have the problems that plague a lot of TX owners. I went to dismantle my Fanatec and the rubber they used for the shifter housing was pretty much melted.

Alright I think I am going for TX as there are a lot of option if I want to upgrade later on.

Now I just need to see if I can unload the Fanatec wheel and CLS pedals. (going to miss that pedals compare to the cheap plastic one that come with TX)

Thanks again to both you and Tyler for all the comments and suggestions.
