The Wii U is at 13 million as of October, and production has ended.

Nintendo's current data puts it at 13.36m.

That's actually quite shocking to me. With as much as people shit on it I was assuming it was hovering around the 5 million mark, tops.

Good question. PS2 shipped (not sold) 51,2 million as March 31 2003, but it did not enjoyed a worldwide release such as PS4 (well PS4 missed Asia at launch but it was less important). And from the PR, it looks like the PS4 is now slightly under the PS2 at the same time, otherwise it would have stated again that the PS4 is "the fastest selling PlayStation in history".

So it seems the PS4 has "fallen" behind PS2, but from very little and of course it does not change anything about the massive success that it is.

I really think near the end we'll have a few years of a Nintendo and Microsoft rivalry on the level of Sega vs. Nintendo back in the day. I don't think Sony will make it through all of next-gen and I truly believe PS4 will be their last console.

I also think people are really underestimating the power of Wii U. PS2 was the weakest technically of its era but went on the become one of the most successful consoles of all time. The first year of Wii U is really what is going to shape next gen. If the third-parties investing early support do well, I think a lot of the late current-gen third party stuff currently in development (Bioshock Infinite, GTA V, MGS: Ground Zeroes, MGS Rising, Lightning Returns, Star Wars 1313 and Watchdogs) will make its way to Wii U. None of those games are UE4 and if developers see they can continue making money and innovating on tech that's cheaper, they will for as long as possible.

Microsoft will become the go-to "tech-powerhouse" console and get the most support from Epic and the guys working on UE4.

I can't believe how strongly people thought Sony would fuck this gen up.....

There is going to be a shortage of crows this christmas that's for sure.

I think it's the other way around. With Scorpio, they wouldn't want this gen to end anytime soon. If the Scorpio only has 2 years of lifespan, it'll be a trainwreck.

With the number of people upgrading to PS4 pro, some of which have come from Xbone I can't see the Scorpio doing good numbers anyway.

People harp on about 4k blu ray players but the currently library of 4k blu-rays is so minimal....

I can't honestly think of a single reason you'd buy a Scorpio
