Let It Die |OT| F2P roguelike Dark Souls with a skateboarding skeleton

I did not know that the minibosses also respawn when you take an elevator back to the waiting room. Had to fight a dude twice on the 3rd floor :(

This game really wants you to progress forward and does not want you to get attached to a fighter.

You're fine getting attached to a fighter, you can always just farm some coins and scavenge them. However, eventually yes, you'll have to ditch them for a newer model.

How can you clean shut down the game?
They told me I need to choose "return to title" from the Options menu while in the waiting room, but I saw no such option...

I was late for work so I quit the application from within the XMB

go into the waiting area, press options, choose exit to main menu and wait 15 minutes for the game to shut down then close the application.

Isn't losing a character and not having the gold (maybe because you got raided) just incredibly annoying? I think I'd probably not want to carry on if that happened.

Exit to Main Menu doesn't appear though...I only have 4 options that appear in that menu.
And button prompts shown in the bottom don't offer to exit to main menu either.

Kinda weird.

So i recently beat the 10f boss and got access to level 2 characters. I've bought 2 more freezer slots and got some strikers and in trying to level them up by fighting coen and working my way back down to the waiting room, it now seems like i get haters in my game who regularly have guns. There was a point where i was coming off an escalator that lead into a thin corridor and right in front of me is a hater with a sniper rifle. I'm locked into the animation of walking off the elevator and i get shot and lose about 80% of my health. Then in trying to close the distance i get hit again and die.

I'm not even mad that they have guns, i just don't want to be put in unfair positions like that. I've also learned that haters tend to have a fixed spawn point depending on the layout of the area.

Yea the low level hater balancing is really off, it needs to be limited to certain levels based on floor ranges, I'm having to fight fully heavy geared guys with snipers, dual machetes etc. lvl 70+ on the beginning floors now. I hope it's just an oversight and they fix it.

Body slams on a level 10 char say even rank 3 will only do around 15% of their health. I'm not even sure what the point is.

I wanted to kinda go back and explore areas I missed before the first boss, but I'll have to be careful since I beat him now that high level haters will show up. I beat a level 46 one that had a sniper rifle by just abusing the AI by making it climb up, knocking him off the platform, then repeat. I got caught by a crossbow wielding one though.

Yeah it really sucks. Having haters that were 6x your level nearly had me write the game off completely. But once you close that level gap, haters are more of an annoyance then an actual deterrant. It also seems that everything up to the 10th floor is pretty much just a tutorial in the grand scheme of things. The difficulty ramps up quite a bit after that. Before i beat the boss i all the haters i've encountered seemed to be capped at 25 and they never had any guns. I haven't even explored anything on the 11th floor yet and now i'm seeing haters as high as 40 with rifles and sniper rifles.

Isn't losing a character and not having the gold (maybe because you got raided) just incredibly annoying? I think I'd probably not want to carry on if that happened.

Yeah this sucks and it's definitely a concern but you should atleast have other characters you can fall back on and then you can grind out some raids yourself to get some quick cash or you could use real money to buy them back, it is F2P after all.

I'm currently on 20 plus. Can confirm, significantly ramps up.

Also Nail guns are insane.

It will eventually appear, it is locked behind a mail/tutorial message. I terminated the game when I as at the waiting room and did not lose anything. Although I received a message when I returned informing that I did not shutdown the game correctly, all my items and fighter were fine.

Do you know what the crafting material MDF is and where to find it? Is it a common item or is it some kind of boss/enemy drop?

I'm right at the point where i can crafte a jungle machete E but im missing MDF

I had a high level hater i defeated that had a machete E and i was able to take and it hot damn does that thing do some serious damage.

It's fairly common on floors 11-16 or so. It looks like the iron scraps.

I wish you could get more than 10 quests. I really don't want to drop some quests I have a bit going on it, but I'd like to have some more shit since a lot of them can be done together in groups of 2 or 3. GOD ASSAULT RIFLE JUST TEARING SHIT UP IN 1-10F.

YO LONGSWORDS?
Are these quests bugged?

-no144 armour limit 001 a ikegara tk imokawa-cho no armour kill all enemies
-no113 same deal as above but no dodging

I've run it 3 times as the quest won't finish. Only have health and weapons on me and I kill everything including the frogs wtf?
I think it took me on my 2nd try, but I popped both of those at the same time. The quests are weird for people yeah. Just try to make sure you kill EVERYTHING and kill things before haters.
How's the world/level design? Samey or a good bit of variety? Any outdoors areas? Do you have a sort of architectural sense of place in the world or do the levels feel very randomized without apparent structure?
Each level has its own distinct puzzle pieces that make it up. They're about 80% the same each time with some minor changes for each individual "level." I really appreciate that it's not full roguelike with you running into the same puzzle pieces with no real rhyme or reason. The puzzle pieces are all constrained to different floors. Every 10 floors seems to be a major environment change. I think the make up of design is really great. Just don't take too long in 1-10F or you might get bored of Sewers.

Sorry, posting again because still no answer. Can any one weigh in on this and any other tips for early expeditions? Just don't want to loose progress... Cheers!

Just wondering about expeditions... I'm at the start of the game, just cleared 2 1/2 floors and haven't fought a boss yet. I was going to send one of my fighters on an expedition (got some R&D gear on them) but I first need to choose the amount of time they'll be gone. Just wondering, if I close the game while they're gone, do they die? Sorry if this has been asked already!

Pretty certain you can't die from expeditions. The length of the expeditions just increases the potential loot you receive

They can fail by dying to NPC enemies or the player, but they wont be dead to where you have to revive/rescue them when the expedition time is up. Their equipment will also degrade if they use it if they are items you picked off the ground - ones you got through R&D wont degrade.

Edit: go everyone answering it already while the phone keeps ringing at work and interrupting me typing on here.

Just fought the level 20 boss for the first time... Could barely scratch him even though I was constantly beating the shit out of him. I was on a collector though and just had scavenged gear. Looks like I'll actually have to prep for this one. Thinking invis mushrooms and a powerful striker. Wonder how well a solid iron would work against him.

At first I got depressed because the recovery is 41k and I couldn't afford it. Thought "this is BS", but after cooling off for a few minutes. I realized I absolutely had that fight with the right setup. And I can farm out 41k coins in about 30 minutes. It's just annoying especially knowing my express pass will be gone by the time I wake up.

You can always go get them back by going to the floor they died on, and killing them. Uncle Death will reclaim the body and put it back in your freezer. This is the main method of getting your fighters back... Paying for salvage is just a shortcut.

I don't find it annoying, at least not in a game breaking sense. It's the impetus to not die, and the high stakes that keeps the game exciting for me. And there are always death metals if you want to circumvent the rogue like aspects.

Does being on a raid team that doesn't have any major conflicts with other teams lessen your chances of being raided?

I was on Washington for a while got raided a ton, joined Cali instead, haven't been raided much since. Those who do come, have a pretty tough time :D.

If imagine so, but not really because of any ingame mechanic. I find I purposely target people in the groups that have growing conflicts when they show up in the random list. I'm in California, and contrary to Aztechnology's experience, get raided all the time. Depends how much cash I have sitting around, if I've captured anyone, or if I've been raiding myself, putting my name on a lot of revenge lists. All those things affect if people want to choose your name in the random pool to raid.

Though if your group starts a fight, you absolutely will be targeted more, since your name will be in the target pool that the rival group will be assigned.

Hmmm. Im in NY and just got raided for the first time while i was on a run to grind XP. I haven't done any raiding outside of the tutorial. They didn't get much but it felt bad coming back to my waiting room being busted up.

I'm assuming the more you raid the more vulnerable that leaves you to get raided? I'm in this weird space where i want to raid and get some resources without potentially putting a target on my own head lol

Got ya. Makes sense. My priority right now is to increase my fighter slots. Whats the best way to go about resources without getting them raided? I'm guessing to just go on a bunch of raids til you get the amount you needed and then just spend it immediately?

Sort of, if you capture another players fighter, it puts them on a rescue list for your team I think. So you're very likely to get raided. If you raid another and succeed, there's also a list for revenge. So they'll get a shot at you. I just wish once you've been raided they couldn't raid you again. I got raided like 5 times and when I got back on I had lost like 20k coins and 10k S

Got ya. I figured having a prisoner makes you more susceptible.

What does the metal and the number underneath it mean on a persons name tag? Does a higher number mean they're tougher or something?

Means they've raided or defended successfully. When you get raided and they succeed you lose points too. But most people who raid, are raiding others far more than they themselves are getting raided.

I'm sorry guys but this game is pretty awful hard lol...bad controls, slow and glitchy input, that little pause when you do everything gets you killed most of the time if theres more then 1 ennemy on you,the UI is awful, the whole way its set-up with the waiting room and deaths and haters is a huge exercise in frustration...yeah I know, get gud but nah,not for me I guess,I dont want to get gud for this game...have fun,i'm out.

Is it worth picking up blueprints that show the item? It just means they're duplicates right?

I don't feel like they are, unless you just have a bunch of empty slots in your bag. I would always replace them with materials if you're full, though. You pick up so many coins that what you get for selling them doesn't make much of a difference.

Thanks. This is helpful. So althought it's not a 1:1 relationship, generally speaking it's probably safe to assume a higher number is tied to a more experienced player that probably has better defenses?

Yeah, just spend before you log off. I don't worry about losing anything while I'm playing, you gain far faster then you will lose while you play.

Also, if you are really worried about retaliation, you can target players that haven't been seen in an hour or more (i.e. they are logged off), so they won't immediately see they got raided and look for revenge. Alternately, if any cpu players are available to raid, they won't ever revenge raid.

Getting raided is just part of the game. Shore up those defenses, and look at it as an opportunity to go get some revenge yourself!

Yes just because they have lots of resources from raiding and understand what works well or doesn't. However it's more likely they just spend a lot of time attacking other players bases. I've done quite a few revenges only to find they have almost no defensive force at all. So not necessarily a guarantee either.

When does the metal from robots actually become needed? That stuff is cramming up my item box and because half of the quests give it out I have way too much of the stuff.

Edit: Also, can you have more than one dead character out in the wild? Say your first character dies, and the one you send after them dies too. You can send a 3rd to get both back right?

I downloaded the game from Canadian store, is it ok that I buy 10 death medals from Canadian store and play with my primary, UK account?

Thanks for the tips guys. Last question, do you find more success putting all your defenses on the platform or waiting room? or is it better to split between them both

I feel like it's better to put them together in one room, but I am not sure if either room is any better than the other. Defeating characters 1v1 isn't usually much of a challenge, so the idea is you want to have a Defender character up first who can take long enough to defeat that your second character trickles out and makes it 1v2 (not sure how long this timer is). Try and stack your team so that invading players get overwhelmed in this way.

That said, I wouldn't even bother setting up defenders until you have all Rank 2 or higher characters defending. Rank 1 characters are just too easy to take down, it's a waste of time and resources. Better to just spend all your SPL before you log out, until you can set up a Rank 2+ team with good stuff like machetes and assault rifles.

Honestly, I think just traversing the areas on the 10th floor area give so much more resources. Every hater for me is like 4k coins and 2-3k Splith. Althought I don't know what the TDM rewards look like yet, so that may be worthwhile.

I put all mine on the platform first. My thinking is that the enemy will have to engage immediately. If all my defenders are in the waiting room (or the bulk are if they are split), the raider will have time to eat mushrooms to buff and heal before moving up.

I got 43k kill coins and 43k splithium for participating in (and helping win) the California vs UK fight. Being able to buy the 32k freezer upgrade in one shot was worth it to me!

Good to hear. Since the entire world is set within this giant tower, do you get an actual feeling in terms of area design that you are going up a massive structure or do the levels feel disconnected?

What part are you at? Wait till you get past the first boss at 10 lol.
