Sonic the Hedgehog Community Thread |OT3 & Knuckles|

Was that ever finished? I lost track a while back.

Hez seemed to lose momentum and debated on canceling the project. He seemed to think nobody cared about the game anymore, which is weird to me.

I don't think he ended up canceling it, but it's been a while since he's posted about it.

Hey guys. I just noticed Sonic Generations and Lost World are both out now on 3DS for half price. Are either of these any good on the 3DS??

Gens 3DS is kind of eh. The modern stages are pretty good Rush style levels, but the classic stages are the final nail in the coffin for Dimps's record with classic style Sonic.

The classic mechanics are far more faithful than Sonic 4, and possibly even console Generations, but they're held down by awful level design. The first 3 levels are straight copies of the original with no alterations to Green Hill Zone to account for the spin dash or to Mushroom Hill to account for no boss at the end. After that, Dimps throws the homing attack onto Classic Sonic and builds the levels around that.

The music is also hit and miss. It has the best track from the pair (Big Arm), and a couple of exclusive bonus remixes, but several levels have their original music with no remix and it also it has the worst track from the pair (Radical Highway Act 2, best described as radioactive fart noises.)

tldr: Passable modern stages, awful classic stages, far less attention to detail, sound track has higher highs but lower lows.

I saw that someone had posted a blurry list of video games and immediately started wondering what thing it was a fake leak for.

It didn't occur to me there was any other reason to post blurry lists of videogames.

That's cute. If you google "Sonic the Hedgehog," on the right-hand sidebar where it displays some images and basic information, it also shows a sprite of Sonic. If you click it, he jumps (and it plays the corresponding sound).

If you click it very rapidly (about 25 times or so), he turns in to Super Sonic.

Tried googling Mario, Mega Man, Pikachu and Pokemon and none of them get anything like that

Neat find!

"Super Mario Bros" apparently also gives you a ? block. Click on it, and it'll give you coins. Click enough, and you'll hear the 1Up sound effect.

I wonder if there are any more of these? Zelda, Kirby, Castlevania, Mega Man and Metroid are all a no go. It seems to be just Sonic and Mario.

The new Sonic Boom episode is about an obsessive Sonic fan who writes a shitton of fanfiction and paints Sonic with tan arms.

So...this looks pretty amazing.

Not sure if its a game though. The creator says this is all with game ready implementation so it could become a game someday.

The art and animation look nice, but as a game it looks like it would be bad. The parkour moves look like they'd be awkward to use and would overcomplicate Sonic's moveset. The air spin dash move could be neat, but in the form that it's shown in the video it breaks the game's pacing and could be overpowered.

That's a really neat concept that I don't think we've ever seen anyone else even attempt before, but it's clear that this is an animation and not possible as a game with some of the moves they have. Wall jumping and rock-hopping look really impressive, but I don't think they could ever flow that well in actual gameplay.

They saw an opportunity and they ran with it.

I look forward to the US version of the comic where Dr. Eggman instead collects all 7 Biblical Pages to form the Genesis.

Those covers look dope, espically the alt for the bunnie one.

That said, Oh hey its blaze we haven't seen her do anything for literal years in this comic... oh bunnie is the main character....

I'm going to go sit in my sadness corner. Blaze is the spike of sonic .

Amazing. It's like it's really 1996.

OH SHIT, I'M LATE FOR SCHOOL.

Oh shit , i'm 3 years old.
