hakchi2 tool on this thread worked great!

I uploaded a handful of NES games to the classic, and works perfect.

1/4 second is immense lag. That is not trivial.

>50ms input lag is generally considered poor for gaming. 250ms input lag sounds dreadful. If sound is also offset, that sounds like a pretty horrible experience.

Or have we accepted bad input lag as a fact of life now?

I may have exaggerated a bit. It's honestly not THAT bad. It is noticeable though.

If I had a way to time it, I would.

The TV set may be the main source of lag, but if you have a low-lag TV set, the Mini has a tiny input lag by itself. Probably because of the way they handle HDMI.

I thought the 8bitdo controller was not that great?

The 8bitdo controller is fantastic unless you need accurate diagonals. Contra and fighting games can be rough. Otherwise it's kinda great.

Anyone know the perfect size image for the box arts? The program sorts that out, I am sure, but for highest possible quality I'd like to sort it manually beforehand. I don't even have a NES Mini yet, so it gives me a while to get a folder with the cream of the crop NES games I want on there and the boxes to go with them.

Edit: Seems to be 140 x 204?

Is there a walk through?

Edit: when I tried that link install, it was infected with malware.

It's not infected with malware.

You will need to allow the download under Windows Defender first.

Second, you will need to go into Windows Defender settings, and add an exclusion to the folder since you need to install a tool within the program.

Settings -> Update and Security -> Windows Defender -> Add an Exclusion

Anyone tried rom hacks? Like legend of link, super mario adventure and Metroid Deluxe?

Would be super if these games also works on the nes mini.

I just uploaded a few normal nes games and they work :) I love it!

Wierd that the save states work exactly as they do on the standard 30 games. When it goes into "attract" mode it only picks a game from the 30 I noticed.

So there is no chance that this causes lingering effects for the system down the road, right? Wife and I are mulling over throwing on a few more coopable games onto it, but doing it on the first day of the exploit being out has me a little leary.

I want to know how accurate the emulation is compared to using a PC emulator or Pi emulator? Can you even tell a difference?

The Pi or a PC can do more, but what if you only care about getting accurate emulation without having to pull out or buy the carts and hookup the original to get it perfect?

Famicom Mini is $150 on Play-Asia, ugh. I'll hold out or just continue to use Virtual Console on my 3DS.

Just got it to work. Tecmo World Wrestling here I come!

And even i am moderately surprised
just tried putting in some japanese names for roms and i got a C8 error and the Famicom Mini no longer boots

So might be worth not trying that !

Just going to remove a few roms and see if that is the cause or maybe a duff rom

Is there likely to be more of these being produced or was it a one off just for Christmas? Piss poor availability in the uk for over a month now.

Randomly got it working. It was actually pretty easy once everything fell into place, and the results are seamless. I just spent the last hour playing Gauntlet II with my sister like we did when we were kids. If only there was a way to connect a four score.

Anyone get this working in a Virtual Machine. Things seem to be working in Windows 7 but the system always reboots with the stock 30 games.

I tried some but the mapper was unsupported so it didn't work.

Too bad, this kind of small nes games are not worth one slot alone, but would be nice to have in multi cart format. But if the 60 game limit is not a thing, it is fine.

I don't understand the point of this.

The Mini NES is honestly one of the best NES emulators currently available. The system itself has incredibly low latency when plugged into a TV through HDMI. This gets a closer 'NES experience' than the Raspberry Pi can produce. Filling it with your own ROM's is kinda cool...

I still don't understand why Ninty didn't allow some official way for more games to be added. Really short sighted.

They probably wanted to sell an NES Classic 2.0 next year with different games and junk. Casuals and collectors would still buy it.

Wait I meant scalpers

Read whatever you want to. I wasn't trying to piss people off; I saw an avenue that's likely to promote piracy (NOT the people posting here) and I commented on it. That's all. The kneejerk reaction is bewildering to me.

You are bewildered by negative reaction to a bannable offense? After a mod spelled it out to you? A more reasonable poster would be grateful that they were given notice rather than directly banned.

I wonder if there is a way for the emulator to pass all these emulation accuracy tests. Or if they already did, they could publish the results. Every commercial VC emulator should take part really for credibility's sake

Okay - good news - i went with the thought that maybe it was the
' in Recca or the !!! in Punch Out that were causing the issue, so renamed them first and

Success - now boots, and Challenger and Skykid both show the Japanese titles correctly.

Sweet.

Interested in this but the GF immediately warned me off it as soon as I told her in case it bricks ours ha ha.

Hoping restocks happen soon but imagine they'll go quickly. Have a few games between us I'd not mind looking a bit better.

Also, is it confirmed that Fami/FDS games work on the NES mini, inc. the ones with sound chips?

This is great, I'm so excited. I don't even own a NES mini, yet.

But it's funny. I can already play any NES rom I want on my WiiU, with a really good Classic controller... Or portably on my hacked 3DS.

I guess I just want that official NES controller and that awesome UI. Yup, that's worth it to me. The box art UI is really really slick.

Is there a list of the best of the best NES romhacks? The only ones I know about are the ones mentioned in the My Life in Gaming video on flashcarts. Mario Adventure, Zelda DX, Castlevania Prince of Darkness, and Mother 25th anniversary.
