Horizon Zero Dawn | Cinematic Trailer

No one is saying better then the witcher, but far cry is not an RPG, it's a FPS with skills, the crafting is limited and basic, it has no dialog, choices, role playing at all. The comparisons are silly.

Most games these days for for accessible, Skyrim is accessible, would you say that's an RPG?

I never said that anybody is saying BETTER than Witcher. I'm saying by their own admission the mechanics won't be at the Witcher's level. I'm also not saying it's the same level of "RPG" as Far Cry. I'm saying that I have no doubt that, on a scale from Far Cry, way over to Witcher 3, this game will be further towards the Far Cry side. They are making sure to call it an Action RPG every time instead of RPG, they bring up the accessibility of mechanics, they say they don't want to get much into stats and things, quests won't be at Witcher level in scope or consequence, etc.

And, yeah, Skyrim is accessible in the sense the every western RPG is accessible. That doesn't mean they're on the same scale of accessibility.

This is all not to mention that it's not even a big deal to me if it's not a hardcore western RPG. I just hope it's a great game.

OK, the witcher is an action RPG too, a game can be a deep RPG and still be an action RPG. The two are not always mutually exclusive.

The game looks amazing, and is coming soon... I hope there is a version of the Pro in the works that plays 4K Blu Rays. I'm excited to play this in our theatre on the BIG screen.

I was in the Scalebound thread, and gave XBox fans some hope with a possible Scorpio delay I heard about. A delay would mean a better CPU for the box, so none of them really seem that upset about it. Personally, it might be better for them...

As for MS, I don't wish them failure, but a little dose of humility would be great. I work with MS quite a bit (networking), and get some information from time to time. Nothing from the game division but I am very familiar with MS as a corporation. I tend to hate all fanboys, and the MS fanboys I know are the worst. Sorry if my post was out of line. I will go back and edit it...

But this game looks AMAZING!!

Dialogue seems extremely one note and standard. I have such a low opinion of Guerilla's story telling abilities that they don't have to do much to surpass my expectations. I really hope this is better than I think it will be narratively.

Holy. Crap.

I wouldn't go that far. It has RPG elements like a lot of action/adventure games like to have. It's not an RPG. It's more of an open world Uncharted with skill trees. A third person Far Cry is a good example actually. Looks amazing though. I'm excited.

Bullshit. You should read/watch some coverage on the game.

Wrong!!

Killzone: Shadow Fall (Video Game)
Sinclair (voice)

Welp. The characters look exactly same with different voices then. I would have bet money on that.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Can we drop the RPG argument? Not to tell anyone how to post but this fucking argument pops up in every god damned thread about this game and goes nowhere fast with people nit picking what an RPG is and never coming to any kind of consensus because there is no hard definition in this day and age. Feel free to continue but god damned people just call it an ARPG Open World game and call it a damn day.

Also Sony should sell a PS4 Pro bundle with this game.

I see why people say it was spoilery, but I don't feel spoiled. Yeah I saw some new things, but the way it edited I didin't really learn anything new as far as they story goes. One new enemy design. We have already seen a deactivated version of that massive tank so I knew we would have to fight a live one at some point.

No he isn't.

Killzone guy was on Homeland. Lance Reddick is most famously from The Wire. Two different guys who don't really look all that similar.

I admitted I was wrong. They still look exactly the same in the games to me. Obviously not in real life.

one of 2017's biggest flops right there

I mean it does look extremely repetitive. What do you actually do other than fight robots?

Thats rope caster i know, but you can see in the shot or in the video , people cheering up in the background , its looks like an arena and the match is between the Scopionsque and the corrupted machine.

I think they just used these robots to corrupt the big one, we will probably have to fight it.

It'll be amazing if Horizon has better cities than FFXzV, and it just might.

Game looks absolutely amazing.

Do people consider FFXV an RPG? This seems like the same kind of thing - and that is wonderful IMO. This game may just be my most anticipated now, outside of SpiderMan

Kinda OT, but have a question -- hopefully someone here can help:

Why is it that I have to wait until the end of Feb to play this?

Any help would be appreciated - thanks!
Because you are required to play Gravity Rush 2 first to speed up time for release of Horizon ZD

Finally we find out this game has a story! Looks amazing, the whole thing looks a big step up from early footage.

The witcher 3 as much as I love it, doesn't exactly have a particularly deep and consequential character upgrading system. It is adequate but many of the upgrades don't make a significant difference beyond the first couple of nodes. I think the primary aspect that distinguishes a game like Witcher is more of a narrative driven rpg, by virtue of its focus on investing a lot of choice in deeply narrative driven quests. In terms of RPG mechanics it isn't especially deep, but deep enough to qualify. This game seems to be an RPG in the way that Mass Effect is an RPG. The Farcry series is not a good comparison. The world design in this already looks to have a more character than those games.

I've watched the video a few times now and I think I can safely say that this by far the most impressive looking game that I've seen on any platform. If somebody had shown me this video a few years ago I just wouldn't have believed that it was possible to ever be playing something like this.

Amazing looking game, it makes me wish that i had a PS4 Pro 2. :)

There are a couple of weird things happening in the video where it gets a bit strange though, I've noticed instances of artefacts appearing for no apparent reason. You can see them right at the beginning of the video in the rock behind Aloy.

It doesn't stop it from being the best looking game that I've ever seen but it's just a bit weird.

Looks great!

Too bad I went to preorder the limited edition at gamestop yesterday, but they were already sold out. I wanted the theme, assuming it has music. Soundtrack for this game sounds really good. If they offer a physical release of the OST, I'd be willing to pay good money for it.

Anyway, I'm probably gonna wait till the last minute until launch to see if they'll offer a Pro bundle with the game before pre-ordering.

Wait, Im confused, what makes witcher amazing is its dialog/story, as far as RPG mechanics it's very thin to be honest, it's not a deep rpg outside of its quest/dialog design. Did you play the witcher? t's an action RPG with a very simple/basic rpg foundation. Amazing game but deep rpg mechanics? Like? The scopre of RPG mechanics in TW are hardly deep or complex.

The same can be said of Mass Effect, all are still RPG's.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the music too?

The soundtrack in this game is shaping up to be great.
