Too many people with iPhone's or something? I don't think people are following SD card prices lately...

It still amazes me that there are that many people out there who are going to play a portable console for more than 3 hours without having access to an outlet to charge it.

32 gigs in a home console?

You guys expecting this to have a HDD? My phone has 32 gigs with micro SD. I don't think Vita has ANY internal memory.

32gb?

Well you can kiss any hope of current gen third party support goodbye with that then. Games get patches bigger than 32gb these days, let alone not being enough for a single digital download of an actual game.

Guess that also confirms it's the original 7th gen version of Skyrim, not the remaster.

Fuck me but this is a cacophony of fuck ups by Nintendo. I mean you expect them to fuck something up, but they're setting a personal best here by quite a margin.

Yeah, with massive patches how is that going to work? And I really don't feel like buying a bunch of SD cards for patches and digital games. That's silly.

People also need to keep pretending this is a mobile only thing. It's both, and should work like both.

Try flying Spirit or being at a busy airport where the plugs are all taken. Many, many different periods one can go without charging.

Glad to see microSD cards are supported. I remember awhile back people saying it would just be the proprietary cartridges.

Internal Storage : 32gb

Not this shit again. Let me pay 50 more bucks to get a internal storage of 500gb, PLEASE.

(External storage doesn't count, it's slower).

yep, 3rd party support is dead before it even began

even if you wanna spend extra to get more storage I highly doubt nintendo is gonna let any game that has more than 32gb total release for the system

nintendo gunning for the worst console manufacturer two times in a row

SPOILER: Columbus finds America
I really thought that after the 3ds and Wii U they would go down a different path, nope they are doubling down.

This is insanity.

At least USB-C will make it easy enough to charge with an external battery.

And for the people complaining about storage, microSD cards are cheap, and will only get cheaper.

you can extend it, so it is ok i think

Sure. Lets compare:

PS4 and xbox one released 3 years ago, 500gb hard drive
PS4 and Xbox one today, for the same price as Switch, 1 TB hard drive
Wii U 5 years ago, 32 gb hard disk

So, yeah, no its not okay. Its a cheap cop out.

Who would say that? Nintendo has used SD since the Wii. The last system of theirs with proprietary memory was the GC and that was back when everyone was still doing that.

WTF are you talking about?

Does Zelda Breath of the Wild not indicate the size and scale that games will be able to be?

Can anyone tell me if Switch can be used in a tablet-only mode (via touch) without needing the Joy-Cons? I would assume so, but it was never mentioned...

I guess the patches are a legit concern. I doubt that 3rd parties will enjoy that limitation. Man Nintendo..

32 gigs

In 2017

Hey, the iPhone 7 base model is 32 gigs for $650, and there's *no* SD card slot for that one.

I understand, really, why the size is so small when you consider the fact that it's both portable and $300. You can't put a 500Gb HDD in there.

On one hand, the 3DS was fine with using SD cards for storage. On the otherhand, the Switch wants to be a home console, and console games tend to be much larger. (Partly because they can be.) A the very least, we won't have to worry about the 'free' Nintendo Network games filling it up!

Why are people complaining about storage when you can get a massive microsd card for cheap these days?

I'm not sure, do MicroSD have rubbish R/W speeds compared to internal memory? (They used to iirc, might be much better now) Might make an issue to run games satisfactorily from them if so?

Because it sucks to have to buy more shit to get the console to is full potential on launch.

You'd be paying the extra if it were included anyway. Better to start low for a good price and people who want more can pay for what they want extra.

Huh? Most ps4 and xbox 1 games are over 32gb in total.

It doesn't matter if Nintendo is able to compress their file sizes really well or not, other companies don't.

DOOM with patches is 80gb (although that is an extreme example)

Could a Mod please unlock the old hardware speculation thread? There are still many unanswered questions about the SoC details. This hardware thread is filled with people giving their opinions on storage space.

Wow, it has wireless AC, was not expecting that. That's pretty cool (and I think would be the only console on the market with AC wifi).

Storage is fine, they allow regular SD cards we can get a million gb for a dime these days.

At least it's not their own special brand of storage crap they can charge $$$$ for.

32 GB is low. I'm checking my steam folder and Vanilla Skyrim is 9.5 GB, Skyrim Enhanced 12,7 GB. Considering a bunch of the 32 will be reserved for the OS and whatnot it doesn't sound good.
