Treehouse Live 9:30AM EST on 1/13 Nintendo Switch Games

ARMS is interesting.

It seems like a straight up fighter. (Maybe meant to try to be competitive? It does have tradititonal controls option)

I'm sure other people noticed that there's like no party elements so far.
Smash Bros has items, hazards, other junk.
Mario Kart has the same.

But what they showed for this game was straight fighting. I was expecting some kind of "wacky" thing in the treehouse, or a mode but nope. Just fighting techniques were shown.

Thoughts...?

serious question: Have we seen anything yet that couldn't be on the WiiU? I do get that this is a hybrid where the WiiU wasn't and so that is an upgrade.

I assume Mario Kart would've been 1080p on Wii U if it could.... -_-

They're presenting it well but I'm mostly laughing at Nintendo trying to sell it for the price they are. Especially considering that it's one of the three launch titles. Just fuck off lmao.
Seriously. What about this looks like a $50 game?

This Pose Copy game is... not good. Its clear the game is only looking at the force and the location of the Joycon. In other words, you dont copy the body movement, you copy the Joycon movement. Which is easy to fake.

Thats what I was thinking, this would make a good kinect or ps move game with camera capture

Do we have any idea how many mini-games there are?

This Samurai Training one is the first game they've shown that looks mildly interesting imo

Do we know if is from the Rhythm Heaven team? It looks a bit like their style, perhaps they had 4 people doing it while working on something bigger

I usually really like Nintendo's minigame demo games but this just... sucks. I do not see myself buying this game, ever.

Maybe it's the presentation? Like what if they had given it a Wario Ware aesthetic? It just seems really really lame. Wii Sports and NintendoLand were MUCH better at showing off the new controllers and gameplay ideas.

We've already got a Fire Emblem Direct incoming, I'd be amazed if we didn't get at least one more before launch. Probably more.

One big one, or several small.

They have to do one pretty much weekly to catch up on the information vacuum they created...

With the Wii U they didn't have a clear message, this time that part is clear, but they didn't even manage to communicate the launch line up. There are games circulating in the air that should clearly be coming, but for some reason are not yet announced.

Everyone seems confused on what is there on launch, what is in development and how the system and it's services actually work. And that is completely unnecessary.

I think they wanted this to be the next Wii Sports, and make it super relatable to non-gamers.

I was a huge fan of Nintendo Land and even that was a pack-in. This is so far away from Nintendo Land. Everything about it just seems so cheap. Could be fun for sure but they really need to learn they can't get away with quite everything.
