Gamestop- Trade in your Wii U for $120 plus $75 extra

http://www.polygon.com/2017/1/13/14263174/nintendo-switch-preorder-trade-in-credit

I know there's a thread for when it was $50 extra, but seeing how the Switch got announced and people are considering it, I feel it deserves its own thread. Mods lock if you think otherwise.

Wii U 32GB= $120
Power Rewards Pro Member Bonus= $75
Cost of Pro Membership= $15 (if you don't already have it)

I wasn't considering the switch, But I saw this deal, went to trade in my Wii U with all of my games for Wii U, 3DS, XBO, PS4 that I don't play anymore plus my two pro controllers.

With the extra 10% trade in value of everything with the membership, I ended up completely paying off the Switch, Zelda, grip charger, and a carrying case for the joycon and only spending 30 bucks.

Couldn't pass up the deal.

edit: Also applies to the other consoles btw, so if you were thinking of selling consoles see the image above plus look at the trade in value in gamestop.

Call me crazy, but I feel like that Wii U will be one of those systems that are hard to find in the future.

Idk about trading it in, but that is a damn good price for it.

Yup, not good enough. Switch ain't backwards compatible either.

If we don't get DKC Double Pack on Switch you just played yourself OP.

I'm pretty sure I got my bundled Wii U with NSMB/NSLB for like $200 during black friday. I essentially lost what, $10-$15 with this trade in from when I bought it? It's a damn good deal.

Gonna clear my memory off it and trade it in. Screw it. For a system I bought at $300 to get back that much for owning it for years is worth it.

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
Hmm... I might have to bite. I barely touch my Wii U and I bought it refurb for not much more than that.

I can always use Dolphin & CEMU if need be.

gonna trade in my launch wii u because I have the wind waker console too. I need to get another wii u gamepad battery though, thing died from not getting turned on for years lol.

what if your gamestop has sold out of switch pre orders? Can I trade my xbox one and still get the bonus if I say I will put a pre order down/ buy one if they get more in stock?

$175 for a xbox one isn't a bad deal, and would be better if I got it on a gift card since it might be sold out in store.

Hmm. I have a few digital games on mine, and I don't like the thought of no longer being able to play Bayonetta 2.

It's a good deal for sure. But all my games are digital and no BC on switch means I will forever own a WiiU.

I checked my Log Book today- I played my WiiU for 9.5 hours in the ENTIRETY OF 2016.

I am getting rid of it, but will probably sell the games like Bayonetta 1+2 on GAF

I did it. How could I resist? $100 upgrade to a Switch. I was straight anti after the presentation but who am I kidding, I am done with my Wii U.

The WiiU combines Wii & GameCube plus VC.

I will hack it and never sell.

The original Wii also combines the Wii/GC/VC. I am keeping my $30 box of amazing, but my Wii U is gone. RIP Mario Maker. The only game I will likely miss.

So do I have this right?:
I bring my Wii U in, pay $15 for the Pro Membership whatever, and get $120 PLUS an additional $75, or pay nothing and get an additional $50?

Because $195 (Plus Mario Maker for like... $30) towards a Switch is pretty good...

I was the same

but then I remembered I'm a doggie whore who will do anything for money

Almost right. You'd get $120+ $75 - $15. So $180 total, but if you have trade ins you get 10% more on everything. You get an extra $10 for becoming a pro rewards member, plus more trade ins and cheaper preorders if you decide to preorder from gamestop from now on (10% off)

Damn, this is tempting because it applies to other systems as well. I bought a PS4 Pro and still have my regular PS4. I wasn't planning on getting a Switch right away but if I could get, what, 200 for the PS4 without having to worry about eBay, etc., damn....

Jesus I just realized that with the fall of the Wii U tha Smash, Hyrule, Splatoon, and Mk8 will never drop in price at GameStop.

This was what I was originally planning, since I barely play my WiiU anymore, and I am not sure if I will miss it beside maybe Bayonetta and Wind Waker HD. Ugh hopefully getting preorders will last a bit, so I can give more thought about this.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Am I correct that that would be $175 for a base 500gb Xbox one?

That's pretty great

smash games almost never drop much in price. All of my nintendo first party games trade ins sold for a decent amount.

If you're not a powerup rewards pro member, just substract $15 for the membership but you get a bit more than just the regular bonus.

Is Switch backwards compatible at all? Digitals I mean..

That is a tough sell to trade in a console with all of those excellent pricey games for a new console with no games. I'd hang onto to it if I had one.

But you will be waiting for them to put out a couple games a month and we know Wii U, DS and Wii games are off the table.

I mentioned it earlier. Take away Wii U and DS and you have what the $30 Wii can do. That was my justification.

If you're like me and the Nintendo console isn't your main console plus you have a gaming PC, PS4 and N3DS, you don't have time to replay old titles. I barely had time to play the exclusive titles. So I never got any of the VC titles.
does gamestop accept 8gb wii us?

You'd need to see how much they trade in for, check in their website.

This is my fear and why I'm hesitant about playing Russian roulette with my Wii U. Hoping soon that they announce Wii U digital games for Switch.

$195? Not bad. And that's just for the console, I still have a shit ton of controllers for it.

But I still need to know if my stuff will transfer over to begin with, whether pro controllers or gamecube adapter will work on the Switch.

That and the only thing keeping me from selling my Wii U day 1 is Twilight Princess HD, Smash Bros, and whether the games I bought digitally will transfer over, or if they are re-released on the Switch I can get them for free or at a reduced cost like they normally do.

:/ So many questions.

$75 + $50/$75 bonus.

$150 for a Wii U Jr. is pretty good still.

Imma tell you right now, nothing will transfer over. Sell the wii remotes elsewhere tho, gamestop has em for like $6 trade in. The Wii U Pro controller is still basically the best retro controller for PC so maybe hang onto it and maaaaaaaaaaaybe they will make the switch work with it but I very much doubt it. I feel like they are ready to have all new accessories for you to buy. No reason a DS3 wouldn't work for 99% of PS4 games but they don't.
