The Pro is low because the uninformed buyer(holiday shoppers) will buy the cheapest model. Sony also has done a terrible job with explaining what the Pro is.

Oh ok i see. so we believe numbers from anyone as long as they are given? Got it. Disregard my post then.

Jesus man, did you skip the part where I said that their last numbers were hot.

They have at least one instance of being right. It's minimal, but for now they are 1/1.

There's no need to be upset about it. If the numbers turn out to be fake that's a shame, we'll just disregard them the next time.

At least it started some good discussion.

If true I'm really surprised by the low Pro numbers.

I guess getting a slim wasn't too bad of idea.
I was scared the Pro would sell so well, the slim wouldn't be cared about at all.

specs is total new gen compared to base x1. call it mid or what. it's a much better refresh than the pro.
No it is not.... ps4 to ps3 was ten times more powerful,. More powerul and more expensive has never done well in the console space, see PS1, Ps2. Ps4 was $100 less at launch, thus it sold more, plsu MS reveal turned people off. Even if it's 399 scorpio will be going against a cheaper pro, slims at 199....what do you thin the masses will buy?

Pro will have a lot more titles, by the time scorpio comes out optimized for it as well, where it has a year head start,

Scorpio already has games enhanced for it too right now, do you think support for Scorpio ends now and no game releasing from now till Scorpio will take advantage of it?
I said many more titles, I didn't say Scorpio wouldnt have any. PS4 Pro will undoubtedly have a lot more third party titles that have been enhanced already for it, compared to the Scorpio when it launches.

Just gonna echo a few posts here. Don't know what people expect with Pro and Scorpio. Seems people expect/expected these to act like straight up new console launches.

In the Pro's case it won't really start to sell in a major way until the prices drops, it's bundled with a high profile game etc. Not to mention Sony hasn't marketed this thing as anything more than a console for enthusiast gamers. Also these things won't have exclusive games for them. Just for that alone people will always go with the cheapest option.

Scorpio imo will sell on par with the Pro who knows, but I assume Pro will get a price cut by next fall. So we'll see.

The problem with that is it is competing with itself. It plays the same titles that the Xbox One Slim plays, but at a higher resolution and frame rate. As the slims price goes down it directly competes with the Scorpio. The platform has no exclusive titles since they are all coming out on PC, which is great for us as consumers, but is not great when you are trying to show people why to buy your product.

It could be said that it is essentially a Microsoft branded PC with a custom windows 10 OS.

It has its benefits obviously, which is it is very simplified in software patches etc, and it is is all in one, and just works. The detriments are that you can't upgrade single parts of the box as you go in the same way you can a custom built PC.

The water is muddied

A lot of people don't believe me when I say MS will treat it like a new gen.

Evidence for nay:
It supports the same accessories, same games.

Evidence for yay:
Power gap just as big as 360->XB1 was

Sigh...no it is not...the power gap is not as big as a new gen.

No because it's going to be $399.

But either way, those Pro sales aren't good for Scorpio.
How? I don't think these are bad numbers for the Pro. You mean to tell me contributing about 20% of overall PS4 sales for the month isn't good? Especially when considering the deals for the much cheaper Slim? It will be similar with the Scorpio in that people will try and make fun of sales less than the cheaper more robust model. I don't agree with that notion at all.
In fact, Microsoft will heavily market Scorpio.

I think Horizon will be the first bundle game.

Why would they get a better start when they have to deal with a console on the market that is similar in power (as similar as Xbox One is to PS4) that has many more titles enhanced for it already available at a lower price and possibly bundled in with a game?

We don't know this yet. If the Scorpio has 12gigs of ram it will could giant gap between the 2 especially in 4k. The one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb on the pro is the textures that are not really upgraded since Sony cheaped out on the Ram.

I think the Pro's low sales would be Sony not bothering to Market the thing at all. If I was not on these forums I would not know the pro existed or what it did. Sony should of spent some coin to advertise the machine. We can't say this makes in gloom and doom for the Scorpio since MS will actually advertise the piss out of the Scorpio.

I don't think Sony was particularly eager to push the Pro this past holiday season. It was definitely for hardcore crowd that didn't need much convincing. I expect them to push it harder next Fall as a less expensive competitor to Scorpio.

The only way they are going to treat it like a new gen is if they market it as such and launch it with software that either runs like shit on xbox one but looks amazing on scorpio, or is completely exclusive to scorpio period.

Those Pro numbers are...whoa.

So people werent waiting for the Pro. Xbox One was winning those months legit.

But those low Pro numbers don't bode well for Scorpio.
Lol you came to that conclusion with no data. I'm surprised it did nearly as well as November without months of preorders.

Sony will advertise pro too...when they need to, right now they have no competition.

Ms is not going to treat it like a new gen because that will only confuse the masses, and most of the sales will come from Slim, they know this.

Sony and MS' goals with these mid refreshes seem to be to always have a premium ($399) product on the market, while offering a cheaper alternatives. In 2 years the Pro will be the slim and the PS5 will be the pro. Rinse and repeat. These companies likely want to keep their margins on hardware as high as possible and the old strategy of price drop after price drop on a single piece of hardware for 5-7 years and making it up on software sales is long gone.

I disagree. Sony has marketed the Pro about as well as one can. It is the PS4 you know and love with better graphics and better performance. I am not sure how they go about highlighting the differences when the vast majority of consumers are still using 1080p sets or worse yet, viewing commercials for it on their shitty work monitors off YouTube. The things the console improves on are the sort of things that most consumers would not notice or take for granted vs enthusiasts.

Dude what did i say there that triggered you to say that? I was agreeing with you.

How come everyone just takes it as fact that MS will heavily market the Scorpio? The Xbox division is seemingly getting less funding not more. They might market the hell out of it but I don't really get why people are so confident that they will.

Well, given how the Xbox One S performs on some titles, Scorpio titles might not have to be patched to run better.

Price is pretty much always the winner here, so no surprise Slim outsold Pro by a large margin, pretty sure Sony expected it though. Sony isn't pushing Pro as anything more than an extension of PS4 and they will be sold at a profit, so I'm sure Sony isn't worried about that.

Solid month for Xbox too, for what it's worth at this point, although with latest numbers saying XB1 is around only 26 million sold, pretty sure Scorpio is going to be pushed as next gen Xbox now, not just a mid gen refresh, plus MS are looking at new a CPU for it, not just an updated Jaguar.

Wishful thinking, there won't even be enough 4k adoption for the masses to care.

When it comes down to it I'm purely guesstimating and I'm at the mercy of whatever the future holds really

Did they heavily market the Xbox One S? That's your answer. Of course they will.

Three and four years into a cycle, people go for value proposition. PS4 w/ Uncharted 4 @ $249.99 was a great bundle. Pro seems like a play at getting PS4 early adopters with 4K TVs to spend money on hardware again. If that was ever more than 20% of the market in a given month, I would be surprised. Unless some surprisingly good bundle happens over the course of the year.

I'll bite.

How much by did X1S outsell PS4? How much has Pro sold?

Whichever is the greater figure should give you an answer to your assumption.

So is the Pro selling Low something Pro buyers should be concerned of?

Why? Nothing here looks out of the norm for me at all, and there are plenty of Pro enhanced games. I'm looking forward to GR2, RE7, Horizon, Persona 5, Neir, etc with Pro enhancements. Not worried at all. At the end of the day it's still a PS4.

Why wouldn't they? They're marketing the Xbox One S. It's something that baffles me when compared to Sony. Sony has the live-action ad making the rounds instead of trying to sell their premium product.

Was the Pro even advertised? I feel like everything I know about it, I learned on my own with the help of GAF and I still bought one and am a happy customer.

The enthusiast/early adopter crowd seems healthy to me and Pro sales will continue to grow with the software support they have lined up and the eventual additional push from ads.

ms might have failed with the x1 thanks to the shitty reveal.

but i know that they are pretty good at marketing premium devices. surface went from nobodywantthis to the best selling windows tablet that everybody copies now.

they also made a $150 controller that beat everyone's expectations. nobody thought people are gonna shell this much for a controller, not even ms.

they will market the scorpio just fine.

How does this make sense? Sony is marketing the slim too, of course MS is going to marker X1s, it is their only sku lol. MArketing won't be the same for scorpio, the X1s will continue to be the main driver. 4k won;t sell to the masses this fall.

Everyone copies now? LOL at best selling windows tablet, that's some low standards, compared to Android and ipads, it's tiny.

Look I really think marketing and message is a huge factor you're ignoring.

There seems to be a big wad of Sony fans attacking me for merely insinuating that Scorpio can have greater fortunes than the PS4 Pro (which didn't even do that bad?!)

Or for even daring to say that they have the capacity to call Scorpio the nextbox

I don't care WHO wins, honestly the only thing I care about is that the industry has an active interest in it.

The PS4 Pro and the Xbox One Scorpio are both mid-generation hardware refreshes, and I think more people will realize that once we see the official launch announcement.

He wasn't joking.

1.3 to 6 terraflops. more ram. better or new cpu.

ms can cancel the xbox one anytime and call scopio xbox two if they want.
