Limited Run Games - Putting digital games into your hands

Several Ray Romano pictures from Doug's Twitter.

It's Utawarerumono 2, a common joke among fans is referring to it as Underwater Ray Romano. Was recently rated by the ESRB, and only the Vita version.

Hype!

If it is RayGigant I'll be really disappointed, but surely that game wouldn't demand a $40 price tag, right?

29.99 + 10 bucks over digital = 39.99... if they ever get a 39.99 digital game, expect to pay 50 bucks

Ray Gigant hype!

And if you had to ask, they're announcing the next game through TheVitaLounge. Probably through their e-magazine.

Hopefully that'll give Paul the push to devote a little more time to TVL lately and less time on Switch Player.

I'm just bitter since I've written two articles and one review for TVL since November and none have been published since he's so busy with other stuff :(

Well, if LRG begins publishing all the Bandai Namco titles that were already published in Europe and Asia, that's probably where I'll start skipping releases. I'm all for Ray Gigant and God Eater Resurrection, but if they decide to go for the Sword Art Online Vita titles or something like Digimon, I'm out. The Vita owners that are still buying games are the very ones that have already imported a copy.

Ya those twitter posts basically confirm Ray Gigant. Uta hasn't even been announced yet and I really do not expect it to be $30 digitally, let alone only for Vita. Ray Ramano is also not underwater in that tweet.

Probably very true, this.

I mean, you'll have one-time customers who will jump in for specific releases. But LRG's regular Vita customers have indeed likely already imported many of those region specific Bandai Namco games.

Yeah, agreed. It would be a good reason to start skipping releases. :-D
I don't mind them doing it, but my wallet already hurts enough.

I would love NA versions of games that have physical releases abroad, but thats me.

I wouldn't even bother touching English copies of games that already had English releases in Asian territories. I already import a good amount of them and the ability to use small dlc on a US PSN account by buying a new copy isn't worth it to me when I payed a premium to import them to begin with.

Maybe if the LRG release comes out at the game's launch they can charge $40? Do we expect things like WEE to be $50?

Also wasn't LRG's "mission" to "preserve digital games"? Then why bother with games that have already been preserved, right? ;-)

LRG charges $10-15 over what digital retail is, because they wouldn't make money otherwise. WEE is also a different situation because they're the ones working on the port, so they have a say in what the price for that will be.

That's only if you don't care about getting DLC. Sword Art Online Hollow Realization, Digimon and Gundam Breaker all got significant DLC.

NBG probably don't have anything to do with Ray Gigant, as Acttil is the publisher in the US.

I don't get how we jumped to this conclusion from it possibly being Ray Gigant? Have I missed something?

LRG picking up a game which has a minor involvement in which hasn't received an English physical release anywhere and that has been requested very often by fans =/= LRG picking up Vita versions of games which received English physical releases in one or more territories than not NA.

This reminds me of everyone jumping to the conclusion that they were doing a physical release for Attack on Titan because they hadn't ruled Atelier out lol.

If you start caring about DLC, you might as well just buy the game digitally. Of course unless they include all DLC on the cart. :)

To be honest, none of the upcoming three games being released (Jan/Feb) really grab me. Will have to research them a bit more to see if I really want them.

Thanks for sharing this. Much appreciated. Here's some stuff that didn't make it into the interview:

Q. Interestingly a day after closing pre-orders for Silver Case on PC, NISA announced a similar CE for the PS4. How come both weren't done by the same company i.e. Limited Run or NISA?

A. We don't really know what happened there. The PS4 release snuck up on us by surprise. As far as I know, we have some exclusive contents in our release that I'm actually really excited about – a two-piece manual set that mirrors what came with the Japanese PS1 release.

Q. With Sony seeming to be super flexible in terms of allowing disc manufacture  — to the point where you can, if the opportunity presents itself, do so for out of print games — do you see Nintendo and Microsoft offering the same courtesy or at least relaxing their policies to allow Limited Run to operate?

A. Yeah, there were actually companies like GameQuestDirect doing reprints of out-of-print games a long time ago. I don't know what stopped them from continuing that. I think Video Games Plus still does a ton of reprints. It's a sector I'm really interested in and I've asked Sony about it.

Q. Could we see Limited Run bring back out of print titles for consoles like the PS1 or PS2?

A. Given the opportunity, yeah, we're definitely looking into that.

Blame the weather!

Just so everyone knows- there is no release this Friday. We had hoped to have something ready but holidays and weather delayed manufacturing

When we have final release dates set, the games will be added to the front page of our site.

English physical for Dariusburst CS would still be nice. The game has very little language barrier, but the Arcade mode does have some alternate modes where lots of menus and text make it difficult to understand. It's an entire section of the game I've had to ignore. cancel and confirm being on the right buttons would be nice too.

Though, it's not something I must haz or anything, so whatever. Won't catch me pleading for it and wasting my vote on Goku, if you know what I mean.

As I expected, Atlus announced Utawararumono. This release is Ray Gigant, for sure. Time to free some space on my Vita memory card! (At least I got it on sale...)

Fuzzy

I would bang a hot farmer!
I finally got my Shadow Complex from the Black Friday sale. Even though I sent the payment on November 23rd they didn't ship it until January 6th. I know the holidays are busy but over 6 weeks before even shipping it was a bit much.

Since Microsoft already passed on a physical release in 2004, how about trying to get them to make a Limited Run of Phantom Dust (Remastered) for the Xbox One? Phil Spencer has hinted that it might be releasing before E3 and I can't find any indications of a retail release.

That one and Cuphead feels like the big Xbox One exclusives* that could warrant big print runs maybe. Microsoft is a big and scary company to deal with though but just showing my interest.

As I understand it, Xbox games are all off the table since the minimum print runs Microsoft demands are far too high.

Plus, I feel like there would be something "unsightly" about a platform creator like Microsoft looking to a small company like LRG for "help" in getting a game out physically.
