Nioh embargo lifts on February 2nd (+ game size)

embargo47uvy.jpg

I guess they are confident in the game. Reviewers have 6/7 days to beat the game and write their reviews I guess, I'm not sure if that is enough, specially when the game seems to be loaded with content, the director said it will take 70 hours to beat the game on average (could be BS of course).

I don't buy developer's average playtime so I don't expect 70 hour and I am fine with that as long as there is good amount of content. They must feel pretty confident with the game looking at the embargo date... hope the game turns out great.

They are confident. The game is looking good and it is great that reviewers have it already so they get the chance of finishing it before the reviews go up. Although I expect some of them to not be able to finish it because of difficulty, there's some reviewers that play terribly.

Wow, very confident of the game. Judging by the demos they should be.

Edit: oh man, those PSN download speeds huh.

Cool that the embargo lifts pretty early, but metacritic could average a 1/10 and I'd still buy it day one based on what I've played across the alpha, beta, and final demo.

Reviews are going to be all over the place for this but I'm getting it anyway because the demo was quality.

Things holding this game back

- just like when Demons Souls came out, this game is a step up in difficulty some people aren't going to be able to get good in a limited amount of time

- the game isn't the most beautiful because the design team wanted to design a 60fps game. I think everyone will dock points for this.

- it borrows from Souls, therefore it's not as original.

However I'm sure there will be reviewers that love the game for its extremely flexible combat. The way Team Ninja combined Souls elements and Ninja Gaiden elements. And though I only played the demo, there's real potential here for Nioh to dethrone Bloodborne as the new king of action games.

I wouldn't be so sure of this. I think influence of Souls games could carry over to Nioh as far as critucs are concerned. Seems like a mid 80s score based on everything we have seen so far. Maybe higher if the story is any good.

I'm predicting a metascore within the high 80's bogged down by complaints of being too hard. Git Gud reviewers.

Reviewer Pros:

- Different from Dark Souls
- Similar with Dark Souls

Reviewer cons:

- Too much like Dark Souls
- Not enough like Dark Souls

Oh yeah..let's do this. I'm predicting mid-high 80s review wise. Based on my time with the last chance demo, i'd easily give it an 86-88

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
delicious game

give it to me

Man, I really wish this game had character creation. The only thing that makes it inferior to Soulborne series.

Still day one though.

On the plus side, we can an actual story with William and these characters, if the involved elaborate cut-scenes are any indication

They released 3 alphas and betas with one of the beta being a huge chunk and also review embargo release way before games release they are definitely confident in their product. But if that is true they are only given 6, 7 days to review it they need to delay the review embargo reviewers gonna rush it and stuff that won't be good

Only thing stopping me from buying this game is not knowing where the game goes. Have a fear it might feel repetitive so hopefully reviews will clear this concern.

I really hope the devs are full of shit when they say it's a 70 hours game. I tend to take longer than average, so I'm fucked if it's actually true.

Though in this game I probably won't be farming for all the loot just so I can read descriptions, so that should help a lot.

I know I'm gonna love it, but I don't trust reviewers to give it what it probably deserves.

"poor man's Dark Souls" even though it isn't

"it's sadistic and unfair"

75 metascore.

I loved alpha, beta and demo but there is no way this is going to have a 90+ Metacritic. It's a great game but it has self contained areas, it hasn't the open world approach and reviewers will not like that.

A lot of that is probably extra/side content. No way the main story takes 70 hours.

Like Demon's?

I actually think that works in its favor. It doesn't have to ape every Souls game in how they branched out to open areas.

I actually really like the level based system cause its easier to keep track of where you've been and where you need to go, that's why the Nexus still remains my favorite hub of the series

this is it I guess, so one question.

Ever since this game started being regarded as the hardest game of the generation, I stopped caring about it, some months ago.

has that been re-confirmed, that the game is indeed harder than everything else??

At first, with alfa it felt like unforgiving hard, much more than Dark Souls. The recent demo showed they made the game hard but it's not unfair anymore in my opinion.

It has good difficulty balance.
