how you gonna post a walking gif of a pretty landscape
but not the giant robotic trex shooting laser beams

edit: there we go

I hope there's enough creature variety. I think I read there are only 26 types or something like that and that sounds a little lower than I'd like.

I'm very excited for this game, but there's something about the combat that seems... off to me. It almost feels like your opponents are letting you kill them. I hope there's some challenge.

I watched plenty of players die in 2 hits to thunderjaw or whatever his name is.

SO are the vids that are not explicitly called Pro footage from the base PS4 version or is their model just unknown?

Everything that doesn't say PS4 Pro is from a standard PS4. People were only allowed to record like 2 minutes of Pro footage for some reason.

I can only think that Sony is afraid to piss off some ps4 base owner and making them feel left out or forced to upgrade if they show mostly pro footage

The character models look top notch, but the animation really brings it down.
Its not terrible by any means but the mouth movements just seem very jarring given the polish of everything else. Hopefully it won't bother me when playing.
That the cost of a huge open world with alot of side characters and 10 hours of so of dialogue .

I think 26 is a pretty good number for 1st game in a franchise, I just check wiki that first Monster Hunter game (the one on ps2) only have 30 monster at first.

I'm also hoping that 26 number doesn't include variants, because we already see 2 type of grazer each have different horn style. there's also apparently a bigger than normal sawtooth. hopefully other type of robot also have their own variant. we know there's a Fire Bellowback, so maybe there's other element Bellowback in the game.

many if not all of these also have corrupted version that are apparently more aggressive

The creatures are very unique in their abilities/movements & appearance though.

The GhostRobo dino guide in the OP does a good job of showing off a fair amount of the robots. There's some really unique ones, like the Stalker which is basically a super fast cheetah (watch that video, this thing is FAST) that snipes you from a distance, goes invisible, and also drops mines if you get near it.

I was skeptical that they'd make the creatures interesting enough, but I've been very impressed with the variety of creatures so far. There's some really, really cool ones.

I imagine the sequel could add maybe another 20-25 unique robot added and we end up with 50 robots total. that'd be amazing.

Hopefully the main story cut scenes are better.
Honestly I might be subconsciously and unfairly comparing it to TW3 dialog and facial animations.
Like I said everything else looks great, and the combat with the larger enemies gives me a DS vibe.

Yeah they put a ton of work into these machines.

Like I said before most of the machines took 6 months to complete.

Someone made a great post in the previews thread linking to cutscenes of various current gen WRPGs, and my impression that Horizon is pretty comparable to those examples. Mediocre in general, but more or less in line with its genre.

Probably the best looking game I've ever seen, even moreso than UC4.

GG are ridiculous. Heck, I bet the Pro version will stack up pretty well against the PC version of TW3. In other words, gg, GG.

Is this going to be a regular thing in this game? Having to constantly roll like that to evade enemies?

I don't think that's a common enemy, to be fair. That type of evading I've only seen in that one video with that enemy. She was probably underpowered there compared to the enemy she was facing.

Man, that's weird because I always felt the Witcher 3 animations were wooden as fuck. That whole game was such a massive let down for me.

This looks nothing like it, and that has me so intrigued.

Nah I don't think so. In that video, he mentioned he didn't even really know how to take on the Thunderjaw, so he kinda just winged it for the video footage. I'd imagine early on that'll be a near impossible enemy to take down then as you progress and get more abilities/gear it'll get much easier.

This game looks gorgeous.

You know now that you say that... there is a lot of rolling. Lol every video I've seen has rolling when facing big enemies.

17 things you didn't know about Horizon: Zero Dawn (new PS4 gameplay)

I liked how the watchers try to protect the herd by different means.

Nice. I like that they studied real animals. The animals look fantastic. The only con is the lip syncing .

There should be more tampons in gaming
No gif of the murder of crows that was in one of the preview builds?
